The effects of several variables on the column bioleaching of copper sulphide ore have been investigated. The copper ore contained chalcopyrite as the main sulfide minerals and bornite and chalcocite as the minor minerals. The experiment was carried out using bench-scale column leach reactors designed in Key Lab of Biometallurgy of Ministry of Education, which were inoculated with the pure mesophile bacteria (Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans) and thermophile bacteria (Sulfobacillus), respectively, and the mixed bacteria which contain both iron- and sulfur-oxidizing bacteria. The results show that the mixed cultures were more efficient than the pure cultures alone and the maximum copper recovery 53.64% was achieved using the mixed cultures after 85 days. The leaching rate of chalcopyrite tended to increase with the increased dissolved ferric iron concentration. The effect of particle size on the rate of the copper leaching was also investigated, and it was shown that the copper bioleaching rate decreases as the amount of fines increase, which limits the permeability, thus decreases leaching rate. Jarosite and elemental sulphur formed in the column were characterized by the X-ray and EDS.

The solutions containing ammonia allow for selective leaching of the copper from a copper ore. In this study, the leaching and kinetics of malachite ore were examined using ammonium acetate solutions as an alternative lixiviant. The effects of some experimental parameters on the leaching of malachite ore were investigated. A kinetic model to represent the effects of these parameters on the leaching rate was developed. It was determined that the leaching rate increased with increasing solution concentration, temperature and stirring speed, and decreasing particle size and solid-to-liquid ratio. It was found that the leaching reaction followed the mixed kinetic control model. The activation energy of this leaching process was determined to be 59.6 kJmol-1. Consequently, it was determined that ammonium acetate solutions could be used as an effective leaching agent for the copper extraction form malachite ore.

The copper oxide ore is high oxidation ratio and the high combination ratio with a low grade of Cu 0.71%. Copper concentrate of Cu 15.02% with a recovery of 38.55% was obtained by flotation. The optimum acid leaching conditions were investigated. Effects of lixiviant concentration, solid-to-liquid ratio, leaching time were investigated. The acid leaching efficiency was 78.75% relative to flotation tailings. By the combination of flotation and acid leaching flotation tailings, most of the Cu in the minerals can be enriched, the total recovery of copper reached 86.85%.

Experimental investigation was conducted on a low-grade copper ore in Tajikistan with grade of 0.89% and oxidation rate of 99%, which belongs to refractory oxide copper with low-grade and high oxidation rate. According to the property of process mineralogy, using vulcanization xanthate flotation process, determined once rough concentration, three times cubic concentration and three times scavenger concentration process, eventually obtained copper concentrate with grade of 15.26% and recovery rate of 85.90%.

A technology route of Reverse flotation of acid-consuming gangue mineralsAcid leaching for copperExtractingElectrodepositing is proposed for recovery copper from a tailings with high content of calcium oxide and magnesium oxide and high content of combined copper oxide. The effect of H2SO4concentration, leaching time and stirring speed on copper leaching was investigated. The leaching solution obtained under the optimal copper leaching conditions, was used to be proceeded for extracting and electrodepositing test. The best leaching conditions are stirring speed of 30 m/min, H2SO4concentration of 150 Kg/t ore, leaching time of 30 minutes. Under the best conditions, the acid leaching test presented that the production of per ton copper consumes sulfuric acid of 17.31 t, and Cu leaching rate is 84.70%.

Alkaline leaching is an important way for treating low grade metal oxide ore, which has some advantages such as low corrosion and low pollution compared to acidic leaching. In order to recover the zinc from a low grade complex zinc oxide ore in which the grade of Zn and Fe are 13 wt.% and 40.2 wt.%, respectively, and 52.8% of Zn is contained in siderite, 34.63% in limonite and 11.55% in smithsonite, this paper presents a preliminary investigation of this type of ore by alkaline leaching method. In this study, ammonia-ammonium chloride and ammonia-ammonium carbonate were used as the leaching reagents. The effects of alkaline concentration, leaching time, leaching temperature and liquid to solid ratio (L/S) were studied, respectively. The results show that 43.15% of initial Zn content was extracted adopting ammonia-ammonium chloride as the leaching reagent in 4.5M at 30°C for 3h with a liquid to solid ratio of 4:1, while 43.07% of Zn recovery was achieved employing ammonia-ammonium carbonate as the leaching reagent at 5M, 30°C and 4:1(L/S). The low leaching rate of Zn is probably attributed to that the zinc contained in siderite was not extracted completely because Zn and Fe exist as isomorphism in siderite.

Abstract Low grade phosphate-siliceous slates dump samples (about 11.98% P2O5) from Zhanatas deposit, Karatau basin, Kazakhstan were subjected to upgrading in the present study. The suggested upgrading route was to get rid of most of the inorganic carbonates via leaching using organic acids like acetic acid. The effect of leaching temperature, dissolution time, and solid/liquid ratio were studied as the main determental working parameters. It was concluded that a concentrate product containing about 21% P2O5 was produced after leaching with acetic acid at optimum conditions: 30 C0, 15 min, and 3:1 liquid/solid ratio. The calculated apparent activation energy of the leaching process showed that the process took place in the intra-diffusion region.

The effects of refractory zinc oxide ore which came from Lanping of Yunnan Province were studied using agitation leach method in laboratory in order to find out the optimum leaching conditions. The optimum conditions obtained are as follows: ammonia concentration 3mol/L, ammonium bicarbonate 1.5mol/L, granularity (-0.074mm) about 85%, solid to liquid ratio 4:1, and leaching time 2h. On this condition, the test obtained the better index of the zinc leaching rate 74.4%.

In order to extract lycopene more effectively, this experiment focused on the optimization of ethanol pretreatment method to study the effects of ethanol treatment on the extraction rate of lycopene and its antioxidant activity. The test results show that 2 times ethanol treatment is very effective for improving lycopene yield. The optimum conditions of ethanol treatment are temperature 50 ℃, treatment time 1 time 2h, 2 times 2h, solid to liquid ratio is 1:12. The lycopene yield can be reached 20mg / 100g above.
