Photocatalytic technology as a means of degradation of pollutants had been widespread concerned. In the past three decades, titanium dioxide (TiO2) has become one of the most extensively studied metal oxides because of its excellent photocatalytic activity and photoinduced hydrophilicity[1,. But TiO2only absorbs wavelengths in the near-UV region (λ<400nm), which is about 3% of the solar spectrum and 53% visible light was can not efficiently utilized for the degradation of organic pollutants. Therefore, it is crucial to explore visible-light-induced photocatalysts. In recent years, in addition to traditional oxides, some complex oxides have been found under visible light driven have a good photocatalytic activity, Such as, N-doped TiO2[, BiOX (X=Cl, Br, I)[, Bi2MoO6[and so on. Nevertheless, such efforts have not achieved satisfactory results aspects of making full use of the visible-light. Therefore, it is still a great challenge to design efficient visible-light driven photocatalysts.

ZnO/Bi4V2O[Formula: see text] nanocomposites were prepared via a facile hydrothermal method by loading different amounts of ZnO onto the surface of Bi4V2O[Formula: see text]. The resulting ZnO/Bi4V2O[Formula: see text] composites showed excellent photocatalytic activity than that of pure ZnO under visible light irradiation. When the ratio of ZnO to Bi4V2O[Formula: see text] was 1:1 (ZB2), the photocatalytic activity was best, which could degrade RhB almost completely within 30[Formula: see text]min. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of ZnO/Bi4V2O[Formula: see text] composites could be mainly ascribed to the efficient charge separation and the increased specific surface area. Based on the experimental and bandgap calculations, a possible photocatalytic mechanism was proposed.

CuInS2/Mg(OH)2 (CIS/Mg(OH)2) nanosheets have been prepared for the visible light activated photodegradation of tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH). The introduction of CuInS2 has proven to enhance the photocatalytic activity of Mg(OH)2 nanosheets. It’s ascribed to the enhanced transfer and separation of charge carriers at the junction interface between CuInS2 and Mg(OH)2. The photocatalytic activity of obtained CIS/Mg(OH)2 is greatly affected by CuInS2 content, pH value, and inorganic ions. Among these samples, 2-CIS/Mg(OH)2 exhibits the excellent photocatalytic activity and durability for the visible light driven removal of TCH after five cycle times. Atomic force microscope (AFM) images indicate that the surface roughness of 2-CIS/Mg(OH)2 is intensively influenced in adsorption-photocatalysis process. The •O2− and •OH radicals are vital for the visible light driven photocatalytic activity of 2-CIS/Mg(OH)2 for TCH removal.
