The aim of this paper is to identify the various managerial issues encountered by UK/Irish contractors in the management of materials in confined urban construction sites. Through extensive literature review, detailed interviews, case studies, cognitive mapping, causal loop diagrams, questionnaire survey and documenting severity indices, a comprehensive insight into the materials management concerns within a confined construction site environment is envisaged and portrayed. The leading issues highlighted are: that contractors’ material spatial requirements exceed available space, it is difficult to coordinate the storage of materials in line with the programme, location of the site entrance makes delivery of materials particularly difficult, it is difficult to store materials on-site due to the lack of space, and difficult to coordinate the storage requirements of the various sub-contractors. With the continued development of confined urban centres and the increasing high cost of materials, any marginal savings made on-site would translate into significant monetary savings at project completion. Such savings would give developers a distinct competitive advantage in this challenging economic climate. As on-site management professionals successfully identify, acknowledge and counteract the numerous issues illustrated, the successful management of materials on a confined urban construction site becomes attainable.

Directional drilling technology is an important and very promising trenchless pipeline crossing technology. On the basis of the related literature research at home and abroad and our pipeline construction site investigation, focuses on several common soil properties are introduced, and then the formation adaptability of directional drilling is analyzed. The drilling selection methods are made when drilling in the specific geological conditions, and the possible risks of the construction process have been classified in the directional drilling.

IBS application had claimed to offer a faster construction, high quality, cost saving, cleaner and safer construction site. However, several challenges in management during the construction phase had been identified by researchers. This paper aims to analyze the challenges and issues arise in managing IBS construction projects. The challenges and issues identified can be categorized into pre-construction, construction and post-construction phases. Categorizing the challenges and issues will help to increase the contractor's understanding and help them to be prepared in handling the situation that they may encounter during the project phases. Keywords: Issues, construction phases, construction process, project management.eISSN 2398-4279 © 2018.
The development of architectural industry has promoted construction’s scale development, and the internal structure is also getting more and more complicated, the development status quo of construction works often decides the increased difficulty of construction, therefore, in order to ensure the effectiveness of the overall construction quality, there is a need to adopt reasonable measures to increase the quality standard of construction site management during construction process, to ensure that construction projects can be completed successfully. This article had made specific discussions regarding methods to increase the effectiveness of construction site management, in hope to provide practical references for specific works in the future.

The advent of the Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act (SARA) Title III, or the Emergency Planning and Citizen Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) has forced facilities to keep track of hazardous materials as never before. EPCRA contains five major reporting requirements, including planning notification, emergency release notification, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) submission, chemical inventory reporting, and toxic chemical release reporting. The complexity and vastness of these requirements all but require a computerized system for hazardous material management. Peterson Builders, Inc., developed a computerized hazardous materials management system capable of meeting the requirements of EPCRA. After one year of operation, the system has proven successful. This paper discusses Peterson Builders' experience in implementing the system, system design, and future considerations for the system.

In order to treat oil and other pollutants in downstream surface water causing by the construction process of a hydropower project, many methods were used. Besides that, a set of flocculation and precipitation facilities was designed as an emergency device for entire construction site. Good results were achieved in the treatment of construction wastewater, which has obvious economic and environmental benefits and has reference value for similar projects.

The combinative bridge with V-type rigid frame continuous concrete beams and concrete filled steel arch bridge is a hyperstatic structure at internal and external, the construction process is complex, the structure is occurring system transformation with construction process. The tensioning process of hangers has a direct impact on the force of suspender final bridge and the stress state of the structure. The influence of deformation and stress of structure are studied with one-step tensioning and multi-step tensioning, Based on finite element simulation of construction process for the combinative structure with V-type rigid frame and arch of Nianchu River Bridge. The tensioning construction process of suspenders is forward on considering the actual situation of the bridge.

ABSTRACT Objective: To contextualize the performance of nurses/nursing team in the dispensing of materials to assist users in home visits, in primary care. Methods: Dialectical qualitative study conducted between March and April 2018 in which 24 nurses from primary health care units in the Gloria/Cruzeiro/Cristal District of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, completed the self-administered questionnaire, whose data were treated by thematic content analysis. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee. Results: Two categories emerged from the empirical corpus: logistic chain of material management for home user assistance; production of services and capacity of the team. Conclusion: The work processes related to materials management for home user assistance and the resulting health services production require a look at specificities such as workload and technologies involved, as they move the performance of the nurse/nursing staff.

This paper provides a design of the Information System architecture to support a connected construction site. In order to master the diversity and the complexity of construction site processes, theories are needed that separate the stable essence of the smart construction site from the variable way in which it is realized and implemented. For that, construction site processes were mapped before linking each data path with the existing technological tools using correspondence matrixes. The results enable the definition of a proper system able to deal with the resources allocated to the construction process functionalities. The main challenge faced in this research was to identify which pertinent data is needed that activates the resources to complete each given construction task.
