Silver doped titania-silica films were fabricated by two-step route of sol-gel method using Ti(OC4H9)4, Si(OC2H5)4 and AgNO3 as the precursor materials. The films were annealed at temperature from 350°C to 560°C for a period of time ranging from 15min to 90 min. Optical properties of the films were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy and the state of silver in the titania-silica films was investigated by XRD patterns. It was found that the annealing temperature and time have considerably influenced the coloration of the films, and with the increase of annealing temperature the [111] orientation of silver crystal occurred which make the color of silver doped titania-silica films deepened. The coloration stability of the silver doped titania-silica films was also investigated.

CuAlO2microcrystallites were synthesized by Sol-gel method at 1200°C with Cu (CH3COO)2·H2O, Al (NO3)3·9H2O and ethylene glycol as raw materials. The phase composition, morphology, and optical properties of CuAlO2microcrystallites were chatacterized by X-ray diffraction, Scanning electron microscope,Photoluminescence and UV-visible spectroscopy respectively. The results of XRD show that CuAlO2with delafossite crystal structure is obtained. The defect emission were observed through PL spectrum test. It can be concluded that Cu-vacancy may be the possible reason of the observed activated p-type conductivity of CuAlO2. Can be found three characterized peak (λ1=290nm, λ2=410nm, λ3=430 nm) on the spectra.

The effect of heat treatment on the optical properties of the bulk heterojunction blend nickel (II) phthalocyanine tetrasulfonic acid tetrasodium salt and Tris (8-hydroxyquinolinato) Aluminum (NiPcTs/Alq3) thin films which prepared by spin coating was described in this study. The films coated on a glass substrate with speed of 1500 rpm for 1.5 min and treated with different annealing temperature (373, 423 and 473) K. The samples characterized using UV-Vis, X ray diffraction and Fourier transform Infrared (FTIR) spectra, XRD patterns indicated the presence of amorphous and polycrystalline blend (NiPcTs/Alq3). The results of UV visible shows that the band gap increase with increasing the annealing temperature up to 373 K and decreases with increase the annealing temperature to (423, 473)K respectively.

TiO 2 thin films were deposited on glass substrates by sol-gel method. Nanocrystalline TiO 2 thin films were prepared at ambient conditions and titanium tetraisopropoxide [ C 12 H 28 O 4 Ti ] was used as a Ti -precursor. The effect of annealing temperature on optical properties of nanocrystalline TiO 2 thin films was studied. The as-deposited films were dried at 100 °C for 1 hr. The films formed were further heated in temperature between 200 and 500 °C for 1 hr. The films were characterized by different techniques: XRD, UV-visible spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy and FESEM. The characterization studies revealed that the films are crystallized as anatase phase and nano-structured with better optical properties α = 0.89 as compared to reported data. The optical measurement showed the indirect band gap between 3.31 and 3.35 eV with corresponding crystallite sizes between 8.9 and 3.7 nm. The FESEM image of film annealed at 400 °C showed spherical nanocrystalline structure of TiO 2 particles. The crystallite sizes obtained from FESEM image are found to be between 30 and 100 nm. It is also observed that refractive index of the film increases with increasing the annealing temperature. The smaller crystallite size gives larger band gap due to quantum size effects.
