Two-layer antireflective films were prepared on Na-Mg-Ca-Si glass substrate by sol-gel process starting from metal alkoxides: Si(OC2H5)4, Ti(OC4H9)4. The transmittance of glass was increased obviously (>95%), the reflective index was reduced to 1.95 through visible light range. TEM observation showed that SiO2 film is compactly joined to TiO2 film and TiO2 film to the substrate. TEM-EDX analysis of the films, film-substrate interface and substrate revealed that with the increase of Ti content, the content of Mg,Ca and Si decreases, however, the content of Na increases. The diffuse of Na+ from the substrate to the film is negative diffusion.

Based on TEOS system and sol-gel process, together with catalysts, Antireflective coating films prepared by sol—gel on glass substrate have been processed by rapid thermal annealing (RTA). the refractive index and thinkness of SiO2 film is exactly controlled. The films are characterized by ellipsometer and SEM respectively. The quantum states in these processions are found and discussed.

TiO2 porous film was dip-coated on glass substrate by sol-gel process using PEG1000 as template. The influences of calcination temperature and time were investigated. The absorption edges of the films calcinated at different temperatures have no obvious change, but the transmittances of the films can be affected. Methyl orange degradation rates are 30.1%, 33.8% and 38.3% on the films prepared at 450 oC, 480 oC, and 500 oC, respectively. The film calcinated at 500 oC for 2 h has the highest transmittance and the highest activity on methyl orange degradation, while the films calcinated for less or more than 2 h have much lower activities. After 30 min of irradiation, 38.3% of the initial methyl orange in the solution can be degraded on the porous TiO2 film calcinated at 500 oC for 2 h.

SiO2 antireflective films were prepared by two-step catalyzed sol-gel method with TEOS as the raw materials, acid and ammonia as catalyst. Effects of the ratio of acid-catalyzed and base-catalyzed silica sols on the transmittance and stability of SiO2 film were investigated. The transmittance can be adjusted by change the ratio of base-catalyzed sols, and a higher transmittance can be obtained in the higher ratio of base-catalyzed coatings. A higher stability of SiO2 film in salt spray can be obtained in higher ratio of acid-catalyzed AR coatings. AR coatings with excellent transmittance and stability can be obtained by adjusting the ratio of acid/base catalyzed silica sols.

ABSTRACT Thin layer and powder of lead titanate had been prepared using lead acetate and tetraethylorthotitanate as precursor by sol gel process. The thin layer of composite was obtain through layering the composite on glass substrate. Both thin layer and powder were calcined between 100-700°C and were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV and Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR). The diffraction pattern show that the structure of composite on glass substrate is amorf at 500°C and could not identified at 700°C while the powder is crystalline at 500 and 700°C. FTIR spectra shown the Ti-O peak at 1407 cm-1, the Pb-O and Pb-O-Ti peaks at 718 and 600 cm-1, respectively.

Based on TEOS system and sol-gel process, together with catalysts, the microstructure of SiO2 particles in the sol is exactly controlled. The films are characterized by ellipsometer and SEM respectively. The experimental results show that adjusting catalytic time can effectively effect the uniformly porous structures of SiO2 thin film on the glass substrate.
