Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is a powerful quality tool, widely used in industry, for the identification of failure modes, their effects and causes. In this work, we investigated the utility of FMEA in the education field to improve active learning processes. In our case study, the FMEA principles were adapted to assess the risk of failures in a Mechanical Engineering course on “Theory of Machines and Mechanisms” conducted through a project-based, collaborative “Study and Research Path (SRP)” methodology. The SRP is an active learning instruction format which is initiated by a generating question that leads to a sequence of derived questions and answers, and combines moments of study and inquiry. By applying the FMEA, the teaching team was able to identify the most critical failures of the process, and implement corrective actions to improve the SRP in the subsequent year. Thus, our work shows that FMEA represents a simple tool of risk assesment which can serve to identify criticality in educational process, and improve the quality of active learning.

This study aimed at developing cooperative learning method by using nyantrik setting of peer tutor strategy for validity and practicability need supported by the steps of performace formative assessment. . The development used 4D model which included define, design, and develop. Its not tested at other and other class. This model had limitedly tested at XI Mechanical Engineering 1 Class of SMK Negeri 3 Singaraja. It was consisted of syntax, social system, principal of reaction, supportive system, and instructional effects and escorts. Syntax composed motivation and porpose, informations study, create a group, group discussion, grpoup report, reward, conclusion, andd evaluations. The result of the validity shows with a high validity category. The result of the practicability from class trials shows that the students practicability reaches practical category with the number of 80% and teacher responses very practical category with the number of 87% keyword : assessment, cooperative learning method, development, nyantrik, peer tutor

The challenges proposed by the knowledge society requires a change of mentality and routines of our students. Consequently, a shift is also needed in the role played by teachers in their education. 34 secondary school teachers from three Spanish high schools, from Ceuta, Madrid and Asturias, working as part of a network, began to introduce project-based learning (PBL) and cooperative learning to facilitate this change. We analyze the correlations between the beliefs and the attitudes of teachers when they were initiating a methodological transition in their patterns of teaching. At the same time, we compare the competencies and strategies related with PBL that 372 secondary school students from these high schools consider being personally important with those who they believe necessary to improve their learning or to be successful with academic requirements.

In this paper the PBL model used at Aalborg University in the mechanical engineering is shortly presented. A specific semester with a both theoretical and practical content that allow the students to is presented in detail. It is then used as a reference project for a subsequent discussion on three potential concerns with respect to the continued succes of problem and project based learning in mechanical and mechatronics engineering namely: individual assessment, bologna (student exchange) model and research based teaching.

This paper presents the implementation of a learning methodology following a student-centred approach. The methodology is based on the use of project based and cooperative learning and mainly consists of commissioning students to prepare a presentation on a topic of their subject. Students work in groups, and later must deliver a real lecture to their colleagues. The proposed methodology was applied across 7 years and its implementation was monitored via day-to-day observations, annual surveys, the gathering of direct feedback as well as by analysing the students’ academic performance. Results show the ability of the proposed learning methodology to enhance motivation and engagement of students, facilitate the improvement of four soft skills (team-working, practical thinking, effective communication and critical thinking), eliminate absenteeism and facilitate long-term retention of the knowledge and skills acquired in a subject.

The research aimed at developing and implementing the PAIKEM method with Student centered learning, Project Based Learningand cooperative learning, effective learning, fun Learningso the learning in the accounting department  able to produce high quality human resources so able to compete  in the global  or international market. The research method was quantitative with data collection by using interview, questionnaire, documentation, triangulation from class room action  research.  Analysis method done with Manova to know the influence of the Paikem method implementation toward competence, quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of learning. The results showed that student centered learning, cooperative learning, fun learning influence insignificantly toward learning competence, while project based learning, creative learning, effective learning influence significantly toward learning competence.  Then student centered learning, cooperative learning, fun learning influence insignificantly toward learning quality, while project based learning, creative learning, effective learning influence significantly to the learning quality.  Then student centered learning, creative learning influence insignificantly toward the learning efficiency, while project based learning, cooperative learning, effective learning influence significantly toward learning efficiency. Toward learning efficiency.  Then student centered learning,  creative learning, effective learning influence insignificantly toward learning effectiveness, while project based learning, cooperative learning, fun learning influence significantly toward learning effectiveness.
