A new pedagogical approach called engineering education through degree-long project has been implemented in the mechanical engineering program at the University of Cincinnati as a part of the NSF CCLI project. The approach integrates selected courses across the undergraduate curriculum of the mechanical engineering program using a degree-long project (DLP) as the theme. Design of Formula SAE® race car was employed as the first DLP. In each course in the sequence, the concept of the DLP approach and the role of the assignment in the course in the overall DLP are explained to students. In early-year courses, assignments are simple problems designed to show how abstract concepts are eventually applied to engineering tasks. In later-year courses, more involved design projects are used aiming at nurturing the ability to solve open-ended engineering problems. In conducting the approach, the most difficult part was developing an interesting and challenging problem which is relevant to practical applications, especially in early year courses. Findings through student evaluations and a stake-holders workshop on the improvement of the approach are discussed.

This study aims to determine the effect of project-based learning methods on the development of the interpersonal intelligence of preschool children. Subjects in this study were preschool children especially 4-5 years old. The subject consisted of two kindergartens in Yogyakarta Indonesia, the participants consisted of 31 children. Thus, the data were used as a quasi-experimental research design. The experimental group was taught with a project-based learning method while in the control group with conventional methods. The data collection was an observation sheet. The research data obtained were analyzed using the t-test in the SPSS.16 program to see the differences between the experimental group and the control group. The results showed that there is a significant influence of project-based learning methods toward the interpersonal intelligence of preschool children. The recommendation was provided to parents, academics, practitioners in the discussion that especially emphasized addressing the need to increase opportunities for the interpersonal intelligence of preschool children in good stimulation.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to describe the use of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) equipment in the Production Process Practicum Subject of Mechanical Engineering Education students, Palangka Raya University. This type of research was descriptive. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and documentation. The object of research was all students of Mechanical Engineering Education, Palangkaraya University who programed Production Process Practicum Subjects. The results of this study indicate that 43% of students stated very well and 57% of students stated good use of OHS equipment in the Production Process Practicum Course. Thus, it was concluded that the application of OHS can support the implementation of practicum in the production process.

Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is a powerful quality tool, widely used in industry, for the identification of failure modes, their effects and causes. In this work, we investigated the utility of FMEA in the education field to improve active learning processes. In our case study, the FMEA principles were adapted to assess the risk of failures in a Mechanical Engineering course on “Theory of Machines and Mechanisms” conducted through a project-based, collaborative “Study and Research Path (SRP)” methodology. The SRP is an active learning instruction format which is initiated by a generating question that leads to a sequence of derived questions and answers, and combines moments of study and inquiry. By applying the FMEA, the teaching team was able to identify the most critical failures of the process, and implement corrective actions to improve the SRP in the subsequent year. Thus, our work shows that FMEA represents a simple tool of risk assesment which can serve to identify criticality in educational process, and improve the quality of active learning.

The purpose of this study was to obtain data on the implementation of the 2013 curriculum, whether it has been implemented well enough and has been applied for a long time at Al-Jamilah Sei Mati Private MTs Padang Tualang by involving students actively in learning and applying various learning methods. Teachers always try to innovate in managing learning by applying interesting methods and positioning themselves as facilitators according to the mandate of the 2013 curriculum. The principle of learning is to humanize humans (humanism), by nurturing children to grow cognitive, affective, psychomotor, life skills. social and spiritual. This research uses research with qualitative data approach in the data collection process and is described by describing the data obtained at the research location to the conclusion. As for the results of the research on educating with the ngemong system which is a form of guidance carried out by teachers to their students which is applied in madrasas. The students' ability to learn aqidah akhlaq has improved quite well with the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum, which can be seen from the active role of students when learning and student involvement during class discussions. Students' understanding of learning also increases which can be seen from the fairly good student scores and the application of religious values that have been studied, especially in students of aqidah akhlaq. Students show good morals in the Madrasa environment both to teachers and to fellow friends.
