Since the embedding of the principles of the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement) in national and international regulations on the use of animals, scientists have been challenged to find ways to reduce the number of animals in their research. Here, we present a digital platform, called ‘3R Backboard’, linked to a laboratory animal management system, which facilitates sharing of surplus biological materials from animals (e.g. tissues, organs and cells) to other research teams. Based on information provided, such as genotype, age and sex, other animal workers were able to indicate their interest in collecting specific tissues and to communicate with the person providing the animals. A short pilot study of this approach conducted in a limited academic environment presented strong evidence of its effectiveness and resulted in a notable reduction of the number of mice used. In addition, the use of 3R Blackboard led to resource saving, knowledge exchange and even establishment of new collaboration.

THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF GEOGRAPHY TO CITY TEACHING AND CITIZEN EDUCATION Abstract Cities have great economic, cultural and political importance in the lives of the people who inhabit them, or who in some way depend on them. This theme has been studied and presented in different ways by researchers from various areas of knowledge, configuring itself as a very expressive discussion in Geography. There are works in the Brazilian academic environment that aim at teaching the city with a focus on specific municipalities, which has brought the concepts inherent to the theme closer to the students' reality, enabling better understanding and learning. In addition, it is a subject from which teachers can work on various geographic themes and concepts. Geography, through city teaching, provides students with very rich discussions about urban living, the (re) production processes, the agents involved in this process, the struggles and conflicts expressed in these spaces. Thus, the objective of this work is to point out the contributions of city education to citizen education, expose subjects that can be studied in this content and present some productions related to city education and the relationship with Geography, published in the scope of graduations and in some journals. As a result, we have a bibliographic research on the subject in question, in addition to referrals that contribute to the teaching of the city. Keywords Geography, City teaching, Citizenship.

Self-identity is a structural and dynamic system that develops as one’s living environment expands. During vocational training, professional identity acquires an integrating role in this system. Professional identity develops in the academic environment, which is expanding due to digitalization. The research objective was to identify the features of professional identity development in students in the conditions of academic digitalization and to determine the ways of psychological and pedagogical optimization of this process. The theoretical analysis is based on the general provisions of cultural and historical psychology, as well as on the methodology of the environmental approach in education. The contemporary academic environment demonstrated a lack of interpersonal interaction, which makes it difficult to enter the professional community and identify with it. However, the interactive character of the digital academic environment makes it possible to optimize the process of professional identity development. It comprises various information and communication platforms into a single media environment. Psychological and pedagogical technologies develop awareness and acceptance of professional values in the process of indirect interaction between students, teaching staff, and professionals.

Background: The revolution 4.0 era affects aspects of life, including books. Humans must be able to adapt to changes that may occur in the future. This study aims to determine whether physical books have been replaced by e-books in the digital era along with the 4.0 revolution and the implementation of human technology for the advancement of book form in the digital era. The method used is descriptive qualitative method, interviews and using a purposive sampling strategy. Researchers identify the focus of research to make it easier to find data, then collect data by selecting data and sources with the criteria of informants having used physical books or e-books. The research sample is students aged 15 to 25 years. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman analysis model, namely by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results indicate that most students prefer physical books as their reading reference with the reason that physical books are considered more comfortable to use. However, in reality the frequency of using e-books is higher. In this case, it is feared that the level of public literacy will decrease if physical books have been completely replaced by e-books. Recommendation: This research is expected to increase the effectiveness of the use of e-books as a form of axiology implementation in the field of technological development. Limitations: data collection is only limited to respondents who are in an academic environment so that the coverage is narrow.

Critical thinking skills are fundamental for both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the academic environment. These skills allow students to question and reflect on the knowledge and information presented to them. These skills can be learned differently through various instruments. This chapter explores how this game can contribute towards teaching critical thinking skills. There are various indigenous games played in Vhavenda culture. The researchers focus on an indigenous game, Duvheke. The chapter employs game-based pedagogy as a theory that underpins this study. Methodologically, the chapter assumes a qualitative complexion because it seeks to collect in-depth information about Duvheke and how it can be used in teaching critical thinking skills first entering students in a rural university. The data collection method used is interviews which were collected from first entering students. Preliminary findings suggest that critical thinking is needed to play Duvheke. The chapter suggests that Duvheke can be a valuable tool in teaching critical thinking skills.

The success ofa business incubator in the university environment represents primarily its value for the university and for theeconomic environment and the ability to react quickly to changing conditions inside and outside and developing the entrepreneurial ecosystem at national level. The degree of development of university incubators, thecapacity and quality of their functioning depends not only on the intensity of the support of the environment inwhich they operate, but also on their efficiency through attractiveness, promoting viable businesses and atthe same time being an alternative source of financing and propelling potential entrepreneurs.

The article analyzes the process of formation in the academic environment of a higher educational institution of the desire to expand and diversify communication channels, which is significant from the standpoint of achieving the goals of sustainable development in the field of education. It is shown that one of the most accessible and open communication channels is ecological. This is due to the peculiarities of the very ecological approach to education and upbringing, which contributes to the involvement of students in the protection of nature, as well as the fact that this channel opens up opportunities for transition to other areas, including political communication.
