The article deals with the method of obtaining a hard chromium coating with using abrasive tool. The influence of the pressing force of the abrasive tool, the rotation speed of the part, the temperature of the electrolyte on the results of galvanomechanical chromium plating of rotating cylindrical parts has been studied. A special abrasive tool has been developed for use in the galvanic mechanical coating of metal parts. The tool is made on a polymer bond. The effect of the electrolyte temperature on the quality of the precipitated chromium is revealed.

The article deals with the method of obtaining a hard chromium coating on details of the "body of rotation" type with the use of an abrasive tool. The influence of the composition and hardness of the elastic abrasive tool on the results of galvanomechanical chromium plating of rotating cylindrical parts has been studied. Binder compositions for an abrasive tool used to improve the roughness of the deposited chromium layer have been developed. A series of experimental studies has been carried out with chromium plating of steel cylindrical parts with simultaneous abrasive processing. Beforehand, an abrasive tool with previously developed binder formulations was manufactured. The obtained results of the influence of the characteristics of the abrasive tool and its pressing force on the chromium-plated part on the quality of the precipitated chromium made it possible to determine the optimum modes for obtaining a coating of the required thickness. Also, a suitable abrasive tool has been chosen to obtain a coating of proper quality.

Bobbin FSW technique is assessed in terms of process productivity and robustness considering the metallurgical and mechanical qualities of the joint. Several different designed bobbin tools were applied to aluminium A6xxx alloy extrusions, at feed rate of 400-1000mm/min with tool rotation speed of 600-1000rpm. In case of A6068-T6, a joint efficiency of 68% was achieved at 600mm/min, which is almost equivalent to the productivity and quality of the conventional FSWed joints, hence the potential of bobbin FSW technique was suggested. The bobbin tool design was further optimized considering the practical process robustness to the part fit issue, and defect free welds have been achieved for the joints with a set gap up to 1mm. However, the oxide remnant, so called “lazy S” was observed in a joint made with an inadequate designed tool, which significantly deteriorates the mechanical properties.

The manufacturing process of metal parts is subjected to machining instabilities that can degrade the surface finishquality and the reliability of products. Some instabilities are of transient nature and traditional inspection systems areunable to adequately estimate the grade of affectation in the finished parts. Time-frequency analyses are techniquesthat overcome these limitations and have recently been incorporated in special industry inspection equipment toimprove the quality of the manufactured parts. Grinding is a process used to get high precision and very smoothsurface in flat or cylindrical parts because of the target applications such as the automotive industry where the higheststandards can be found. This paper reports a technique to estimate the quality of ground parts based on timefrequencytransforms that are used to enhance the defects. This makes it easier to implement the technique forsurface characterization in online pass/no-pass inspection machines. The fundamentals of the methodology arerevised and the technique is applied to the identification of vibration marks in cylindrical ground rods. Results showthat this approach identifies adequately imperfections of transient nature and it is able to estimate the extension andamplitude of the defects on the surface of the manufactured parts.

The influence of interstitial impurities in the Zr–Y target alloys (manufactured by two different techniques) on the quality of thermal barrier ceramic layers of heat resisting coating are studied in this work. The heat resisting ceramic coating manufactured in the UOKS-2 devices by magnetron medium-feculence plasma–chemical deposition on the surface of components that are used at the high temperatures (above 1150 °C). It was found that when the content of interstitial impurities in the target alloy is more than 0,1% (1000 ppm), the rate of the coating process decreases and has to be maintained by increasing the energy of argon ions. This leads to overheating of the target alloy and the surface of the parts (substrate) which impairs the adhesion of the deposited atoms.

Textured soybean protein (TSP) is a product made from cooking and extrusion of soybean protein, which has been widely used in food, feed and other industries. This text made soybean protein isolated (SPI) and soybean protein concentrate (SPC) as the raw materials to produce filamentous protein production. By experiment, the influence of puffing temperature, screw speed and feed rate on the quality of the protein products was studied. Finally it was concluded that when the temperature of the barrel was 152 °C, the screw rotation speed was 119 rpm, the feed rate was 0.426 kg/min, the TSP product had the biggest expansion degree.
