El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar el efecto de un programa de fuerza mediante tecnología isoinercial durante cuatro semanas, en la mejora del rendimiento en mujeres de deportes colectivos con carácter intermitente. La muestra estaba compuesta por seis mujeres con una edad media de 21±1.79 años. Se realizaron los test de cambios de dirección V-cut, fuerza explosiva counter movement jump y repeated sprint ability sobre 40 m. Los principales resultados muestran que se mejoraron todas las variables analizadas mediante el entrenamiento con tecnología isoinercial. Además, presentaron diferencias significativas (p<.05) en las variables de fuerza explosiva y de repeated sprint ability. Por lo tanto, un programa de entrenamiento de fuerza a través de tecnología isoinercial durante cuatro semanas de entrenamiento es suficiente para la mejora de los cambios de dirección, la resistencia a la repetición de esprines y la fuerza explosiva de piernas. The aim of this research is to analyse the effect of a four-week strength programme using isoinertial technology on performance improvement in women in team sports on an intermittent basis. The sample was composed of six women with an average age of 21 (±1.79 years). The tests of V-cut direction changes, explosive force counter movement jump and repeated sprint ability over 40 m were performed. The main results show that all the variables analysed are improved by training with isoinertial technology. They present significant differences (p<.05) in the variables of explosive strength and repeated sprint ability. Therefore, a strength training program using isoinertial technology during four weeks of training is sufficient for the improvement of direction changes, resistance to repeated sprinting and explosive leg strength.

Purpose: To analyze the effects of a 9-week plyometric training program on the sprint times (5, 10, 20, and 30 m), change-of-direction speed (modified T test and modified Illinois test), jumping (squat jump, countermovement jump, countermovement jump with arms, and horizontal 5-jump test), upper-body strength (right and left handgrip, back extensor strength, and medicine ball throw), and balance (Y and stork balance tests) of female handball players. Methods: Athletes were randomly divided into experimental (n = 21; age = 13.5 [0.3] y) and control (n = 20; age = 13.3 [0.3] y) groups. Training exercises and matches were performed together, but the experimental group replaced a part of their normal regimen by biweekly upper- and lower-limb plyometric training. Results: Both groups improved performance, but to a greater extent in the experimental group compared with controls for 20- and 30-m sprint times (Δ% = 9.6, P < .05, d = 0.557 and Δ% = 20.9, P < .001, d = 1.07, respectively), change of direction (T test: P < .01, Δ% = 14.5, d = 0.993 and Illinois test: P < .01, Δ% = 7.9, d = 0.769), vertical and horizontal jumping (P < .05), all measures of upper-limb strength (P < .001), and left-leg stork balance (P < .001, Δ% = 49.9, d = 1.07). Conclusions: A plyometric training program allows female junior handball players to improve important components of their physical performance.

The purpose of study was to resolve the effect of plyometric training and repeated sprint training on physical performance. The study was conducted on 41 subjects in two experimental groups (plyometric/repeated sprints training). Before and after the training program, subjects were subjected to diagnostic procedures that included standard test protocols. Results proved a statistically significant difference only after the plyometric training program compared to the repeated sprint group in countermovement jump (8.65% vs. 2.21%). In variable repeated jumps, an increased value was recorded (2.9% vs. 4.29%), like in sprint variables after the training program where certain trends of progress happened after the repeated sprint ability training and the specificity of the program (5 m = 0.89%, 10 m = 1.07% and 25 m = 1.35%), while plyometric training recorded unchanged values at 5 and 10 m, and a 0.27% improvement at 25 m. Stagnation of the 20-yard test was recorded in both groups. There was no difference between training programs in any variables of functional capacities, with similar measures recorded in repeated sprint ability. After six weeks of both training types, positive changes can be expected in explosive strength of lower extremities, increases in acceleration area, and maximum speed.

The development of muscle power should be taken into account in soccer training. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of a 6-week of mixed power training on the level of the motor skills of the lower limbs of young soccer players. The training was conducted during the starting period. The study included twelve 16-18-year-old players who regularly participated in specific soccer trainings and played in regional competitions. Their basic anthropometric features were measured. The assessment of the power of the lower limbs was carried out using two jump tests: CMJ and SJ. The maximum anaerobic power was calculated and was expressed in relation to body weight and lean body mass. In addition, Drop Jump tests were performed from three different heights on the basis of which RSI reactive strength index were calculated. On completion of the training program an increase in the level of the results of all the tests was observed: SJ (cm) (cohen's d: 0.43), CMJ (cm) (cohen's d: 0.33), SJPmax (W/kg) (cohen's d: 0.43), CMJPmax (W/kg) (cohen's d: 0.30), SJPmax (W/LBMkg) (cohen's d): 0,57), CMJPmax (W/LBMkg) (cohen's d: 0,44), RSI 0,2 (cohen's d: 0,59), RSI 0,3 (cohen's d: 0,45), RSI 0,4 (cohen's d: 0,58). An additional six-week ballistic-plyometric training program, used as a supplement to the basic training plan during the start period, resulted in an increase in the motor skills of the lower limbs of young soccer players. The application of combined ballistic and plyometric training methods helps to improve the strength and speed potential of young soccer players.

Plyometrics is a popular training modality for basketball players to improve power and change-of-direction speed. Most plyometric training has used sagittal-plane exercises, but improvements in change-of-direction speed have been greater in multidirection programs.Purpose:To determine the benefits of a 6-wk frontal-plane plyometric (FPP) training program compared with a 6-wk sagittal-plane plyometric (SPP) training program with regard to power and change-of-direction speed.Methods:Fourteen female varsity high school basketball players participated in the study. Multiple 2 × 2 repeated-measures ANOVAs were used to determine differences for the FPP and SPP groups from preintervention to postintervention on 4 tests of power and 2 tests of change-of-direction speed.Results:There was a group main effect for time in all 6 tests. There was a significant group × time interaction effect in 3 of the 6 tests. The SPP improved performance of the countermovement vertical jump more than the FPP, whereas the FPP improved performance of the lateral hop (left) and lateral-shuffle test (left) more than the SPP. The standing long jump, lateral hop (right), and lateral-shuffle test (right) did not show a significant interaction effect.Conclusions:These results suggest that basketball players should incorporate plyometric training in all planes to improve power and change-of-direction speed.
