This study aims to determine the meaning contained in the journalistic photo by Jessica Helena Wuysang which is published on the AntaraFoto website. As is well known, photojournalism is an image taken by a photographer or journalist for press publishing needs. Independent photojournalism is not only for complementary text. A picture can tell a lot more than a story. This study used Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic analysis method to examine photos of dying orangutans in Kalimantan. Pierce's semiotics is used to determine signs through the triadic model and its tricotonomic concepts, namely representament (sign), object and interpretant. The results of the study show that the object in the photo describes an orangutan who is in pain due to burns. Then, the interpretation is that orangutan is a rare animal, there is still someone who wants to help an orangutan who is in pain, namely a medical officer. In addition, the meaning that can be taken is to make a lesson for all audiences in Indonesia not to carelessly burn land that is occupied by rare wildlife. If the orang-utan as an umbrella species really ceases to exist, the ecosystem life and diversity that exists around it will be threatened.

This research is motivated by the development of the spread of symbols of satanism in the modern era that mushroomed in various mass media, especially video clips to give and deliver messages. One of the top bands named Dewa 19 has symbols associated with symbols of satanism and spread the symbol through the media video clips of the songs of God 19. The focus of this study is the meaning of video clip symbols scattered on each video clip kara band Dewa 19. The theory used is Charles Sanders Peirce Semiotics theory which has a triadic model and trichotomy concept consisting of Representamen, interpretant, and object. The research method used in this research is qualitative research with descriptive type. The results of the research found that the meaning of the symbols scattered in each of the video clips of the band Dewa 19 is the result of the symbolic representation of satanism, among others: Horus's Eye, Pyramid Terpanchung, Chessboard Chess, Photo of Satan Church Founder, God Ra, ANKH SymbolKeywords: semiotics, satanism, Dewa 19, symbols.

AbstractDespite major advances in the development of interventions for youth anxiety and depression, approximately 30% of youths with anxiety do not respond to cognitive behavioral treatment, and youth depression treatments yield modest symptom decreases overall. Identifying networks of modifiable risk and maintenance factors that contribute to both youth anxiety and depression (i.e., internalizing problems) may enhance and broaden treatment benefits by informing the development of mechanism-targeted interventions. A particularly powerful network is the rich array of family processes linked to internalizing problems (e.g., parenting styles, parental mental health problems, and sibling relationships). Here, we propose a new theoretical model, the triadic modelof family process, to organize theory and evidence around modifiable, transdiagnostic family factors that may contribute to youth internalizing problems. We describe the model's implications for intervention, and we propose strategies for testing the model in future research. The model provides a framework for studying associations among family processes, their relation to youth internalizing problems, and family-based strategies for strengthening prevention and treatment.

Self-Help Group, Microcredit and Microenterprise as a triadic model proved to be worthwhile to promote women empowerment and community development in India. This paper attempts to study the success and failure of this model in India and also to explore the possibilities of applying this to the Roma communities in Hungary to improve their socio-economic condition.

Forrester’s proposed seventh style of reasoning – thinking in cases – functions as an analogous, dyadic relationship that, whilst indebted philosophically to the logical reasoning and semiotics of Charles Peirce, is prone to creating feedback loops between induction and deduction, precluding novel abductive hypotheses from advancing medical knowledge. Reasoning with a Peircean triadic model opens up the contexts and methods of meaning-making and reasoning through medical cases, and the potent influence of their genre conventions, to intellectual critical scrutiny. Vitally, it offers a third mode – abduction – that this article argues needs to be reintroduced into Forrester’s model of reasoning with cases. This article demonstrates this by applying a Peircean triadic model of reasoning to Forrester’s own model, tracing a shared genealogy but one in which the abductive element was lost. The article goes on to illustrate the explanatory and predictive potential of Peircean abductive reasoning and the necessary re-theorising of the case this entails. This argument is supported through an analysis of early case reports of what would become HIV/Aids, drawn from the Case Records of Massachusetts General Hospital series in the New England Journal of Medicine.

This article discusses the creation of a new philosophical model of librarian-patron interaction. Directly influenced by the classical Indian text The Yoga Sutras of Patañjali, the authors have created the Triadic Model of Holistic Advocacy, which is supported by three yogic concepts: yoga (union), karuṇā (compassion), and āsana (pose). At its core, holistic advocacy encompasses both a philosophy and praxis of librarianship that is predicated on the belief that librarianship is fundamentally about service to others. Holistic advocacy requires a consistent, empathetic approach to librarian-patron interactions that is ultimately reflected in the quality of services rendered. The authors argue that engaging in holistic advocacy empowers library professionals to better advocate for patrons, specific libraries, and librarianship as a field. Embedding this ethos will help ensure that advocacy happens frequently and organically. Furthermore, holistic advocacy is a mindset that will help foster the growth of a more critically-thinking, compassionate society. The blending of eastern philosophical concepts (as outlined in the The Yoga Sutras of Patañjali) and western practices of LIS has not yet been discussed in the literature. The authors hope this discussion will encourage others to consider how eastern philosophy impacts western library practices.

A brand name is an important feature for a brand, serving as an identifier for a product and simultaneously attempting to shape consumers’ perception as a distinctive trademark. The present study explores branding in light of Peirce’s triadic model of signs in linguistics, using summary statistics and cross tabulation to empirically show trends in the choice of brand name and descriptor for 224 star hotels in Bali. The data shows that five trademark distinctiveness strategies are present in the core brand names of star hotels in Bali: generic, descriptive, suggestive, arbitrary, and fanciful—with arbitrary names being the most popular. Additionally, several trends are shown in regards to descriptors used in property names. The use of ‘Bali’ as a descriptor is still popular, while the use of descriptors ‘beach’ and ‘grand’ is declining. Using definite article ‘the’ as a descriptor is increasingly popular, as well as using descriptors ‘private’, ‘luxury’, and ‘collection’ to convey exclusivity and intimacy.
