The present article concerns with the modern state of things of the conflict resolution specialists’ training in the US universities. The analysis is based on the informational and promotional materials which were picked up from the 11 American universities’ websites. The aim of the analysis was the examination of the four sections, which are: the orientation of the academic program, the content of the program or the scope of the skills, the main methodology of the academic program and the educational technologies. Together with the analysis of the US universities’ academic programs the article provides the comparative analysis of these programs with the Russian academic programs. On the back of this comparative analysis the authors come to the comprehensive conclusion according to which the specialists’ training in the field of the conflict resolution and peacebuilding in the US does not have significant differences from Russian ones and is carried out within one international academic trend in regard to its main features which are: the orientation, content, educational methodology and technologies. The key distinction of the Russian training from the American one is that the Russian academic tradition does have the core subject matter around which the whole academic program is being developed and which is the conflict. This subject matter is being taken in its entirety and the conflict resolution is considered as the closing stage of the conflict studies specialists’ training whereas the academic programs of the US universities embrace the conflict resolution as the subject matter of the academic training and therefores leaves beyond the scope of the training both the theory of the conflict and the forms practice of its manifestation in a number of the programs. The letter is peculiar to both short-term academic programs and the full-time two-year academic programs as it is accepted in the educational space of the Russian Federation. Furthermore, the authors of the article make up the conclusion of the coinciding major educational methodology which guides the academic programs of the American and Russian universities and which is developed on the principles of the interdisciplinarity.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the reported or perceived impact of studying in Nepal on student’s academic program, personal development and intellectual development. The study draws upon adult learning theory to analyze survey instrument data, interviews, and case studies to discern the impact of the program on college students and to contribute to the body of longitudinal research on U.S. study abroad programs.

The Civil Engineering course teaches different subjects in its academic program, which has in their educational task to offer knowledge to students, their intervention in the environmental space, within the framework of their actions as future civil engineers. The objective of the research is to reflect on the knowledge acquired in the environmental training of students of the civil engineering career. For this purpose, the standardized survey technique was used with structured questions that collected the work of the educational program of the race and was applied to 75 students of the different levels. The result obtained allowed to know to what extent the environmental training of students, has repercussions on the preparation of future civil engineers, in addition to the degree of concern for environmental problems and the predisposition to work in order to reduce the impacts derived from the professional practice of The Civil Engineering, taking into account the implication of the sustainable development in the academic formation. During the investigation it was verified that students are aware of the importance of preservation and respect for nature through the use of clean energies, where they have expressed concern about contamination and depletion of natural resources. The results obtained can have a positive influence on the constructive future of the province, depending on the implementation of an appropriate sustainable development policy.

This study sought to fill a gap in the literature by considering the role of motivation in post-secondary aspirations of adult learners, specifically full versus part-time status, previous level of educational attainment, years of work experience, and the selection of an academic program. The data from this study came from adult students ages 25 and older at 8 institutions in the Midwest. Statistical analysis determined there were significant differences in gender motivation, level of education is predictive of type of educational credential being pursued, and type of adult learner motivation influences which degree, academic program, and enrollment status is pursued by adult learners. Furthermore, this research revealed as adults acquire more work experience, their postsecondary educational aspirations are more likely motivated by extrinsic factors. These findings have meaningful implications for linking motivation with continuance and graduation from collegiate programs for which this paper identifies and discusses in the context of postsecondary education.

The relationship between healthcare organizational accreditation and their leaders’ professional certification in healthcare management is of specific interest to institutions of higher education and individuals in the healthcare management field. Since academic program accreditation is one piece of evidence of high-quality education, and since professional certification is an attestation to the knowledge, skills, and abilities of those who are certified, we expect alumni who graduated from accredited programs and obtained professional certification to have a positive impact on the organizations that they lead, compared with alumni who did not graduate from accredited programs and who did not obtain professional certification. The authors’ analysis examined the impact of hiring graduates from higher education programs that held external accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). Graduates’ affiliation with the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) professional healthcare leadership organization was also assessed as an independent variable. Study outcomes focused on these graduates’ respective healthcare organization’s performance measures (cost, quality, and access) to assess the researchers’ inquiry into the perceived value of a CAHME-accredited graduate degree in healthcare administration and a professional ACHE affiliation. The results from this study found no effect of CAHME accreditation or ACHE affiliation on healthcare organization performance outcomes. The study findings support the need for future research surrounding healthcare administration professional graduate degree program characteristics and leader development affiliations, as perceived by various industry stakeholders.


The Canadian Association of Neuropathologist – L’ Association Canadienne de Neuropathologistes (CANP-ACNP) held their 59th annual meeting at the Delta Kingston Waterfront from October 23rd to 26th, 2019, under the leadership of Dr. Peter Gould, President of the CANP-ACNP, Dr. Julia Keith, Secretary Treasurer of the CANP-ACNP, and Dr. John Rossiter, local organizer. The annual banquet was held at River Mill Restaurant in Kingston.The academic program comprised 14 Abstracts, 14 unknown cases, a Symposium on Neurodegenerative Neuropathology, and a Neuropathology Practice lecture by Dr. Gerard Jansen entitled CJD, CJD Surveillance, and Occupational Risk. Can worms ever be re-canned? The interactive forum on Neuropathology Practice was moderated by Dr. Gould and Dr. Keith and focused on safety around autopsy diagnosis of CJD, the Neuropathology workforce analysis in Canada 2019 presented by Dr. Patrick Shannon, and accreditation of neuropathology laboratories in Canada. Digital pathology images from the 14 unknown cases are available for viewing online (www.canp.ca) thanks to the CANP webmaster Dr. Jason Karamchandani.The Presidential Symposium 2019 on Neurodegenerative Neuropathology featured the Jerry Olszewski Lecture given by Dr. Douglas Munoz on Using eye tracking to identify behavioural biomarkers of neurodegeneration, the David Robertson lecture given by Dr. Tom Beach on Staging systems for Lewy body diseases, and the Gordon Mathieson lecture given by Dr. Ian Mackenzie on C9orf72: FTD, ALS and beyond. The program was completed Dr. Gabor Kovacs’ presentation on Tau pathologies in the aging brain and Dr. Carmela Tartaglia’s presentation on Dementia; the times they are a changing.The award for best clinical science presentation by a trainee (Dr. Mary Tom Award) in 2019 went to Dr. Suzy Kosteniuk (Supervisor Dr. Lothar Resch), and the award for best basic science presentation by a trainee (Dr. Morrison H. Finlayson Award) was won by Hoang D. Nguyen (Supervisor Dr. Maxime Richer).The following abstracts were presented at the 59th annual meeting of the Canadian Association of Neuropathologists – Association Candienne des Neuropathologistes (CANP-ACNP) in October 2019.
