The 1674 Inventory the Belongings Left by Przemyśl Pantler Jerzy Wołodyjowski The register of things left by Przemyśl Pantler (Steward) Jerzy Wołodyjowski, who was a model for Sienkiewicz’s “Small Knight” – the defender of Kamieniec Podolski in 1672 – can be found in the Grabowiec municipal records, which are kept in the State Archives in Lublin. The article presents the tradition connected with the legend of Colonel Wołodyjowski, basic facts from his life, and the circumstances of the compilation of the posthumous inventory used during the lawsuit against persons who illegally seized the real estates of the deceased. The author of the article concludes that the real Wołodyjowski resembled his literary, Sienkiewicz-created image only in some respects. He was indeed an excellent soldier and was killed in Kamieniec Podolski (like Michał Wołodyjowski, his book counterpart) but his death was an accidental one. He also was a colonel but he was not in charge of the Lauda cavalry company. He had probably never been to Lithuania, where this ethnographic-historical region Lauda (Liaude) was situated. The article contains the edition of the inventory made after the death of Jerzy Wołodyjowski.

Abstract Constitutional transformation in Poland, which took place at the turn of the eighties and nineties of the past century, was directed, among others, at creating a civil society and a free market. Changes in people’s mentality quickly brought about economic changes based on the concept of private ownership. Yet one should remember that in the period preceding this time, personal assets were significantly limited. Many people’s assets were repossessed by the state in nationalization or expropriation processes. Present regulations permit getting these assets back. This is possible in cases when the repossessed real estate was misused with the purpose of expropriation, or it became needless. Real estate is also reacquired via invalidation of administrative decisions or provisions of law. Real estate owners and their legal successors can apply to get back real estate. It is possible to get compensation for assets which cannot be taken back in actuality, which should correspond with the actual value of the lost rights. The level of compensation should be determined on the basis of real estate market value. This value is determined for the day the decision to determine compensation is issued, taking into account the state and purpose of the real estate on the day the document approving the repossession of the real estate was prepared. The authors present changes in law provisions connected with spatial planning in Poland from the year 1946, when the first decree connected with this topic entered into force, to this day. They describe documents kept in state archives which should be used by valuers. They also show, on the basis of examples, how important the correct determination of the intended use of real estate is, taking into account documents that have been created over the years.

The relationships between the state archives and various types of private archives are of diverse character. The way they are handled depends, to a large extent, on the willingness to cooperate on the part of non-public institutions and their archives, but also on the real interest of the state archives in the problems of broadly understood private archives.

Portugal has port, Spain has sherry, Sicily has Marsala –– and California has angelica. Angelica is California's original wine: The intensely sweet, fortified dessert cordial has been made in the state for more than two centuries –– primarily made from Mission grapes, first brought to California by the Spanish friars. Angelica was once drunk in vast quantities, but now fewer than a dozen vintners make angelica today. These holdouts from an earlier age are each following a personal quest for the real. For unlike port and sherry, which have strict rules about their production, angelica never gelled into something so distinct that connoisseurs can say, ““This is angelica. This is not.”” This piece looks at the history of the drink, its foggy origins in the Mission period and on through angelica's heyday and down to its degeneration into a staple of the back-alley wino set. Several current vintners are profiled, and they suggest an uncertain future for this cordial.

The article reveals the names of the prototypes of certain characters in Nagibin’s long story My Golden Mother-in-Law [Moya zolotaya tyoshcha] (the mother-in-law being A. Likhachyova, the wife of the director of the Moscow Car Manufacturing Plant ZIL). For the first time we read the names and learn about the destiny of M. and L. Kostromin, the real people behind the characters of Matvey Matveevich, the neighbour, and Nina Petrovna, the female protagonist’s best friend. The life story of these personalities, residents of the legendary Niernsee House in Bolshoy Gnezdnikovsky Lane, enables the authors, who are related to L. Kostromina, to explain the underpinnings of the relationships between the prototypes of Nagibin’s characters, often a mystery for the writer himself, and share first-hand accounts that confirm his amazing flair for imagination. The article uses materials of family lore, the authors’ private archive (letters and photographs), as well as hitherto unsearched materials from state archives.

With the rapid development of satellite technology and the need to satisfy the increasing demand for location-based services, in challenging environments such as indoors, forests, and canyons, there is an urgent need to improve the position accuracy in these environments. However, traditional algorithms obtain the position solution through time redundancy in exchange for spatial redundancy, and they require continuous observations that cannot satisfy the real-time location services. In addition, they must also consider the clock bias between the satellite and receiver. Therefore, in this paper, we provide a single-satellite integrated navigation algorithm based on the elimination of clock bias for broadband low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication links. First, we derive the principle of LEO satellite communication link clock bias elimination; then, we give the principle and process of the algorithm. Next, we model and analyze the error of the system. Subsequently, based on the unscented Kalman filter (UKF), we model the state vector and observation vector of our algorithm and give the state and observation equations. Finally, for different scenarios, we conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis through simulations, and the results show that, whether in an altimeter scenario or non-altimeter scenario, the performance indicators of our algorithm are significantly better than the inertial navigation system (INS), which can effectively overcome the divergence problem of INS; compared with the medium earth orbit (MEO) constellation, the navigation trajectory under the LEO constellation is closer to the real trajectory of the aircraft; and compared with the traditional algorithm, the accuracy of each item is improved by more than 95%. These results show that our algorithm not only significantly improves the position error, but also effectively suppresses the divergence of INS. The algorithm is more robust and can satisfy the requirements of cm-level real-time location services in challenging environments.
