In the post-COVID-19 pandemic wearing the mask and maintaining social distancing becomes the new normal where people have to strictly follow to keep themselves safe. In such situations, the apparel industry has to come up with new business imperatives to catch up with their business back to normal. The world has to face new strategies and new adaptation to overcome the pandemic time and move back to a new normal. The apparel sectors, brand, retail, the manufacture has faced many challenges and thus in this paper, the challenges of textile and apparel sectors and new norms and strategies followed by apparel brand, in retail sectors, buying and in supply chain management has been discussed and it is found that digitalization has become new normal in all of these sectors.

The world of logistics is changing and entering a new era. The advance of digitalization and technologization enables new business models, increased process efficiencies, novel planning approaches, and much more but, on the downside, there is also the risk of being lost in the maelstrom of developments. Within these developments, the automation of logistics processes and ultimately the design of autonomous logistics systems is one of the most defining trends that has far-reaching consequences for the planning and execution of future logistics processes. This Special Issue aims to contribute to the discussion and to get to the bottom of the question of how the path towards automated and autonomous logistics systems should be designed. This editorial lays a foundation by presenting application areas of automation and discussing the theoretical path towards autonomous logistics systems. The articles that follow provide highly practical insights into current research results on the automation and autonomization of informational and physical logistics processes.

Vietnam is currently among the top-five textile and apparel exporters, and the industry is considered quite attractive to foreign investors. Nevertheless, the global textile and garment industry is experiencing important changes. The three main producing regions in the world are China, Southwest Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Turkey), and ASEAN. In order to maintain its positioning and to establish stable and sustainable Vietnam textile and apparel development, there must be radical changes. Due to this necessity, the authors conducted this study by using grey forecasting to predict and reflect the condition of businesses in the period of 2017–2020, together with combining a DEA model to help businesses select the most appropriate strategic partner in the supply chain in order to achieve economic goals and promote the strength of the businesses partaking in the association. Besides, this helps businesses exploit market opportunities and take advantage of the capabilities of the textile and apparel industry.

PurposeWith the intense competition in the global textile and apparel industry and the uncertainty of the global textile and apparel business environment, sourcing has increasingly assumed a pivotal strategic role in textile and apparel supply chain management. Strategic sourcing is crucial for firms to obtain or sustain competitiveness in world marketplace. The purpose of this paper is to examine empirically how strategic sourcing and sourcing capability impact firm performance in the US textile and apparel industry.Design/methodology/approachEmpirical survey‐based research methodology was implemented to examine the research questions and model. Data were collected from the 152 firms in the US textile and apparel industry.FindingsThe findings show that strategic sourcing leads to greater emphasis on sourcing capability and positively impacts firm performance.Originality/valueThe study contributes to understanding of supply chain management using data from the US textile and apparel industry to investigate the relationships between strategic sourcing, sourcing capability, and firm performance and to test the research hypotheses by quantitative survey‐based research method. The textile and apparel industry is dynamic, global, diverse, and complex, and is a prime exemplifier of globalization. The study clearly demonstrates that strategic sourcing plays a vital role in a firm's business operations and puts greater emphasis on developing the sourcing manager's business capability.

Online shopping for customized garments has become the fastest-growing field of the Chinese eBusiness market. Most consumers not only limit themselves to buying standardized garments but also want to buy garments customized to their preferences. This phenomenon has pushed the fashion textile and apparel industry to change its supply chain operations to meet the customization demand. Besides, the fashion textile and apparel industry also want to study how different channel factors will affect consumers' perceived value and further influence consumers' purchasing decisions. We initiated this study and empirically tested more than 200 experienced consumers. This study collaborated with a fashion textile and apparel company that aims to implement customized product lines soon. Based on the perceived value theory and risk management theory, we investigated whether product involvement and channel identification on supply chain design will affects potential customized product consumers' purchasing decisions. The findings reveal that channel recognition affects consumer decisions by having a positive impact on their perceived value. The perceived risk and shopping channel involvement of consumers have a negative impact on their perceived values and channel selections. In addition, product involvement has a moderating effect on the relationship between channel's perceived risk, perceived values, and channel selections as well.

Implementation of business education in the world of education is very important. However, many theories and teaching monotonous nature led to the knowledge of the business is difficult to be well understood. Thus, to introduce supply chain management as the business processes of an enterprise, it takes a learning method that is more innovative and creative as well as promoting business practices. One method of teaching that can address these problems is with education game business simulation genre. Chocorillo: The Lost Recipes is an educational game that teaches the business of business learning, especially concerning supply chain management which is packed with gameplay that is fun and exciting game story. This game there are 29 characters that the player can interact with them, doing quests from them, and resolve social problems that occur. The creation of this work is expected to generate business educational game that can provide learning effects without compromising the beauty aspect of the graphics so players do not get bored easily in use.Keywords: Android, game edukasi, bisnis, unity, supply chain management. AbstrakPenerapan pendidikan bisnis dalam dunia pendidikan merupakan hal yang sangat penting. Akan tetapi, banyaknya teori dan sifat pengajaran yang monoton menyebabkan pengetahuan akan bisnis sulit untuk dipahami dengan baik. Dengan demikian, untuk memperkenalkan supply chain management sebagai proses bisnis suatu perusahaan, dibutuhkan sebuah metode pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif dan kreatif serta mengedepankan praktik dalam bisnis. Salah satu metode pengajaran yang dapat menjawab permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan game edukasi bisnis bergenre simulasi. Chocorillo: The Lost Recipes merupakan game edukasi bisnis yang mengajarkan pembelajaran bisnis khususnya tentang supply chain management yang dikemas dengan gameplay yang menyenangkan dan game story yang menarik. Game ini terdapat 29 karakter yang pemain dapat berinteraksi dengan mereka, mengerjakan quest dari mereka, dan menyelesaikan permasalahan sosial yang terjadi. At the beginning of the emergence of Covid-19, there was panic buying in Indonesia which caused an unusual situation in supply management. Although the handling of this epidemic has entered a "new normal", the availability of stocks of electronics, automotive, pharmaceuticals, food, and others is running low and out of control, so supply chain management is needed. The purpose of this article is to try to see the extent of the transformation in supply and demand in Indonesia. With this in-depth literature, the supply chain model is likely to transform globally, given that many companies are confused about management being unable to cope with drastic changes in the market. The demand patterns over the past period indicate a shift from offline to online storefronts. Even though it has now entered a transition to a new normal and shopping outlets are slowly opening up, online shopping or demand patterns are predicted to last a long time. Therefore, supply chain actors, especially farmers, logistics entrepreneurs, and shipping services, inevitably have to be able to quickly adapt to changing patterns in Indonesia. There is an imbalance between the demand and supply sides. Food supply chains tend to be unique in comparison to the supply chains of other products and services.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to (1) identify the sustainable practices developed by the textile and apparel industry and (2) investigate the gaps and opportunities in the sustainability implementation process by quantitively analyzing the sustainability topics and the relevant topic trends.Design/methodology/approachThis study employed text mining techniques. A total of 1,168 relevant magazine articles published from 2013 to 2020 were collected and then categorized according to their tones. In total, 36 topics were identified by reviewing the sustainability issues in the industry. The frequency of each topic mentioned in the articles and the correlation coefficients between topics' frequencies and published time were calculated. The results were used to examine if the three sustainability dimensions (environment, society, economy) were equally addressed and identify opportunities in the sustainability implementation process.FindingsThere were much fewer social and economic topics than environmental topics discussed in the articles. Additionally, there were not enough practices developed to reduce microfiber pollution, improve consumers' knowledge of sustainability, offset the carbon footprint, build a transparent, sustainable supply chain and avoid animal cruelty.Originality/valueThere is a lack of research focusing on the whole supply chain and sustainability when investigating sustainable practices and topic trends. This study fills a part of the gap. The results can be used by industrialists to identify sustainable practice opportunities and better manage their sustainable supply chains. Researchers can utilize the results to compare the topics in the industry with the topics studied in academia.
