The awareness of communicative way of teaching English comes in different forms. This paper discusses the grammime, a new form of TPR which is mainly designed for eight parts of speech. It is used in some English training schools in China and is seen effective because it helps young learners to be acquainted with grammatical structure of sentences thus helping them to construct well-structured sentences with the help of different hand gestures which represent a structural rule. Incorporating oral drill with hand movements can augment the opportunity of memorizing the words, their meanings, and structural rule which makes learning much easier, interactive, and fun. The results which were obtained through experimental approach and self-made assessment instrument for pretest and posttest were used to assess grammime’s influence and impact on young learner’s learning process and outcomes. It is explored that the intervention using grammime really has an impact on young learners’ learning outcomes. Most specifically, the results suggest that when young learners are exposed to grammime and they practice it, the acquisition of knowledge and the learning process and outcomes increase.

Article visualizations:

The article deals with natural language processing, namely that of an English sentence. The article describes the problems, which might arise during the process and which are connected with graphic, semantic, and syntactic ambiguity. The article provides the description of how the problems had been solved before the automatic syntactic analysis was applied and the way, such analysis methods could be helpful in developing new analysis algorithms. The analysis focuses on the issues, blocking the basis for the natural language processing — parsing — the process of sentence analysis according to their structure, content and meaning, which aims to analyze the grammatical structure of the sentence, the division of sentences into constituent components and defining links between them.

The goal of this review was to study about the implementation of Mind Mapping in teaching grammar in the second semester of students of the Department of English Education at IAIN Surakarta. Observation and documentation were the instruments for collecting the data. These instruments were used to collect data on the Mind Mapping process in grammar teaching, problems and solutions. The data analysis technique started with data reduction, data display and verification. First, the findings revealed that the implementation of Mind Mapping in teaching grammar was only used to provide an overview of the material. It was developed by elaborating, questioning, and responding techniques or methods for transferring the material. Mind Mapping made the students active in giving feedback and become a measure in assessing how far the students understood the material during the teaching-learning process, the students were very eager to analyze the material using Mind Mapping. It could be seen from their direct reactions during the teaching-learning process and observed the work of the student in the classroom. Second, there are some advantages to using mind mapping in grammar teaching. They were; (1) giving students an overview of the concept of grammar material; (2) making grammar easier to understand; and (3) helping students to easily memorize the concept of English grammatical structure.

Many factors influence the low number of skilled vocational high school graduates. One factor that is the leading cause is the lack of instruments that can be used in the learning process, especially authentic instruments, to assess students' abilities in the psychomotor domain. Students who are dominant in the cognitive sphere are not necessarily skilled in the psychomotor realm, especially when using the equipment and making improvements to the brake system. The purpose of this study is to develop an assessment instrument that is appropriate to be used by the teacher in evaluating the psychomotor domain's abilities, specifically for the brake system competency. This research is development research that uses ADDIE models as a reference for research. ADDIE model has five stages of development that need to be considered, including analysis; (2) design; (3) development; (4) implementations; and (5) evaluation. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion of the psychomotor domain assessment instrument for the competency of the brake system that was developed to be suitable for use in the learning process. Feasibility is proven from the results of the validation of experts who get an assessment of 4.66 with a very valid category. The instrument reliability test results that get the Cronbach's alpha value of 0.895, and the value of inter-observer reliability is 0.740. In addition, the instrument is also practical when used in the learning process. This was evidenced by the acquisition of practicality test value of 3.31 and entered in the practical category.

Cooperative learning has been proven to be helpful in enhancing the learning performance of students. The goal of a cooperative learning group is to maximize all members’ learning, which is accomplished via promoting each other’s success, through assisting, sharing, mentoring, explaining, and encouragement. To achieve the goal of cooperative learning, it is very important to organize well-structured cooperative learning groups, in which all group members have the ability to help each other during the learning process. In this article, a concept-based approach is proposed to organize cooperative learning groups, such that, for a given course each concept is precisely understood by at least one of the students in each group. An experiment on a computer science course has been conducted in order to evaluate the efficacy of this new approach. From the experimental results, we conclude that the novel approach is helpful in enhancing student learning efficacy.

As an interactional encounter between a journalist and one or more newsworthy public figures, an interview program is a special type of discourse that is full of evaluative language. This paper sets out to explore evaluation in interview programs from the perspective of appraisal system. The corpus software used in this study is UAM CorpusTool 3.3— annotating software that is able to automatically annotate the grammatical structure and parts of speech of the text, meanwhile allows manual annotation of linguistic features based on various schemes. The results show that the use of attitudinal resources is closely related to speaker’s communication strategies. Invoked evaluation and positive appraisal resources are most frequently used in the interview to establish alignment with the audience. As will be explained below, the design of the program process and other information are also sources of evaluation.
