The article deals with the problem of studying such an urgent and important issue as the state policy of supporting small and medium-sized businesses at the beginning of the XXI century and the results of its implementation in the territory of the Chuvash Republic. The author characterizes the content of main scientific works on this issue published over the past twenty years. On this historiographical basis, the aspects of the topic the content of which was contributed by one or another researcher are marked out. There is a significant differentiation in the exploration maturity of various aspects of the topic: the role of small and medium-sized businesses in the economy of the country as a whole and Chuvashia in particular is best reflected in historiography; many works list the main difficulties faced by entrepreneurs in their practical activities; as a rule, researchers list various forms of state support for small and medium-sized businesses, although most often only some of them are covered; the regulatory framework for state support of entrepreneurship in the Chuvash Republic is sufficiently fully characterized, the content of approved strategies and development programs is analyzed; many authors put forward proposals for improving the state policy of supporting small and medium-sized businesses. At the same time, other aspects remained poorly covered in historiography, for example, regional features in the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the territory of Chuvashia at the beginning of the XXI century. The author comes to the conclusion about current need for holistic studying the history of small and medium-sized businesses in Chuvashia and the role of state support in this process.

Introduction. The turn of the 1980s – 1990s in the history of our country is characterized by the liberalization of the social system, which changed, in particular, the relations between the state and the Orthodox Church. One of the crucial issues in this area is the consideration of state policy to involve the Russian Orthodox Church into joint partnership. It allows determining the place and role of the Orthodox confession in the life of post-Soviet Russia. The article analyzes the features of the historical development of the economic policy of regional authorities aimed at involving the local diocese into joint social partnership in 1990s – first decade of the 2000s. The purpose of the research is to reveal a comprehensive chronological framework of the historical aspects of economic policy carried out in relation to its involvement into social partnership. Materials and Methods. To achieve this goal, both unpublished archival documents and published sources were used. The main source for the article were the materials from the funds of the state historical archive of the Chuvash Republic and the state archive of modern history of the Chuvash Republic (documents of official records management of public authorities and religious organizations), which are first introduced into scientific use. The study is based on the principle of historicism, comparative-historical and descriptive methods, which revealed the content of the research. Results. According to the results of the study of economic policy of the Chuvash authorities to involve local Orthodox community into joint partnership in 1990s – first decade of the 2000s, the authors give a comprehensive description of the considered historical processes. In particular, two stages concerning the beginning of sate and church social partnership in the Chuvash Republic are proposed and described. The first phase is characterized by preconditioning (acknowledgement of the Russian Orthodox Church’s leadership in spiritual revival of the local population, economic support of the church revival, etc.) and the origin and growth of the social partnership model of state and church relations (the period of 1990s). The second stage (first decade of 2000s) is the time of approval and implementation of the social partnership relations model between the Chuvash authorities and Chuvash diocese. The main characteristic of the period are the agreements between the diocese and healthcare institutions, educational institutions, justice institution regarding the issues of spiritual and patriotic education, opposition to totalitarian sects, etc. Discussion and Conclusion. In general, the priority in social partnership in the Chuvash republic in the period of 1990s – first decade of 2000s was given (comparing to, for example, pre-Christian beliefs) to the Orthodoxy, which was determined mainly by its historic significance, its special role in the cultural life of the region. At the same time at the beginning of first decade of 2000s there are events (Chuvash diocese took part in the opening of the monument of the “Covering Mother”, the Russian Orthodox Church took part in discussions regarding the ban of pre-Christian beliefs publications), which proved the fact of considering the Russian Orthodox Church by the authorities not only from the position of social, but also from the point of political partnership.

Introduction. The turn of the 1980s-1990s in the history of our country is characterized by the liberalization of the social system, which changed, in particular, the relations between the state and the Orthdox church. One of the crucial issues in this area is the consideration of state support for the revival of the Church, which allows to determine the place and role of the Orthodox confession in the life of post-Soviet Russia. The article analyzes the features of the historical development of the economic policy of regional authorities aimed at restoring the position of the local eparchy, which was implemented in the late 1980s – early first decade of the 2000s.The purpose of the research is to reveal a comprehensive chronological framework of the historical aspects of economic policy carried out in relation to the Orthodox confession of Chuvashia. Materials and Methods. To achieve this goal, both unpublished archival documents and published sources were used. The study is based on the principle of historicism, comparative-historical and descriptive methods, which revealed the content of the research. Results. According to the results of the study of economic policy of the Chuvash authorities to revive The Cheboksary-Chuvash eparchy in the late 1980s–early 2000s, the author gives a comprehensive description of the considered historical processes. In particular, two stages concerning the transformation of state support for Orthodoxy are proposed and described. The first phase covers 1987–1993 and it is connected with the origin and formation of the practice of returning the monuments of Orthodox Church culture to the Cheboksary-Chuvash eparchy, periodic financial assistance for their repair and restoration work. The second stage (1993–2003) is the time of approval and implementation of the conceptual bases of restoration of the property confiscated from the Russian Orthodox Church during the Soviet period of history, fixed in the regional legislation. It is also established that the main directions of economic policy of the Chuvash authorities in relation to the Russian Orthodox Church were the return of the Church from the state jurisdiction of the property confiscated from it during the Soviet era, as well as the allocation of funds and construction materials for the repair of destroyed and the construction of new churches. Discussion and Conclusion. The consideration of the amount of economic assistance provided by the leadership of the Chuvash Republic to the local Orthodox Church testify to their important role in the full revival of Orthodoxy to the beginning of the first decade of the 2000s, which began in the Chuvash Republic in 1987. The process of state revival of the Church until 1993 was not systematic and was carried out as the need for ongoing democratic reforms. Only in 1994–1997 the decrees of the President of the Chuvash Republic were adopted, accelerating not only the free transfer of buildings-monuments of Orthodox architecture to the ownership of the Cheboksary-Chuvash eparchy, but providing significant financial support for its revival. Undoubtedly, by assisting The Cheboksary-Chuvash eparchy in the restoration of Orthodox architecture, the local authorities fulfilled their moral duty to make amends for the crimes committed by the Soviet state against the Orthodox Church in the Republic. Keywords: denominations, Russian Orthodox Church, Chuvash ASSR Orthodoxy, Chuvash Republic, Cheboksary-Chuvash diocese.

This article investigates the ways in which the work of The Body Politic (TBP), the first major lesbian and gay newspaper in Canada, comes to be commemorated in queer publics and how it figures in the memories of those who were involved in producing the paper. In revisiting a critical point in the history of TBP from 1985 when controversy erupted over race and racism within the editorial collective, this discussion considers the role of memory in the reproduction of whiteness and in the rupture of standard narratives about the past. As the controversy continues to haunt contemporary queer activism in Canada, the productive work of memory must be considered an essential aspect of how, when and for what reasons the work of TBP comes to be commemorated. By revisiting the events of 1985 and by sifting through interviews with individuals who contributed to the work of TBP, this article complicates the narrative of TBP as a bluntly racist endeavour whilst questioning the white privilege and racially-charged demands that undergird its commemoration. The work of producing and preserving queer history is a vital means of challenging the intentional and strategic erasure of queer existence, but those who engage in such efforts must remain attentive to the unequal terrain of social relations within which remembering forms its objects.

This paper intervenes in orthodox under-standings of Aotearoa New Zealand’s colonial history to elucidate another history that is not widely recognised. This is a financial history of colonisation which, while implicit in existing accounts, is peripheral and often incidental to the central narrative. Undertaking to reread Aotearoa New Zealand’s early colonial history from 1839 to 1850, this paper seeks to render finance, financial instruments, and financial institutions explicit in their capacity as central agents of colonisation. In doing so, it offers a response to the relative inattention paid to finance as compared with the state in material practices of colonisation. The counter-history that this paper begins to elicit contains important lessons for counter-futures. For, beyond its implications for knowledge, the persistent and violent role of finance in the colonisation of Aotearoa has concrete implications for decolonial and anti-capitalist politics today.

The review article presents data on the prevalence of respiratory allergy - allergic rhinitis and bronchial asthma in southern Russia, published over the past decades. The dominant role of pollen allergy is shown in almost the entire southern region of Russia. In the Chechen Republic, sensitization to house dust mites and grass pollen was found in patients with respiratory allergy equally (51.1 and 52.5, respectively), whereas ragweed and mugwort sensitization was 3 times less (26.6 and 20.7, respectively) compared with the neighboring regions of southern Russia. These data demonstrate climate-geographical, environmental and other regional features in the prevalence of respiratory allergies.

This article provides an overview of post-conflict justice (PCJ) as well as a detailed analysis of factors that impede or facilitate the implementation of mechanisms to address the atrocities of a conflict. Grounded in an extensive new dataset, developed over the past three years, covering all conflicts in Africa between 1946 and 2009, we extend previous research by including empirical testing of previously untested assumptions and variables impacting PCJ, most notably, the role of power, politics, economics, and geo-strategic interests at the state and international political levels as well as combining previously tested variables amongst and between each other. Further, the aspects of PCJ, including conflicts where mechanisms were not deployed are included in the analysis along with those coded as symbolic in nature. We conclude by discussing the pragmatic issues associated with testing the concept of realpolitik and policy implications based on our analysis.

This paper presents a short history of Polish formations protecting the governing bodies of the state, starting from the moment Poland regained independence at the end of the twentieth century. The considerations are presented against the rules and principles of the functioning of the state security system, with particular emphasis on the control subsystem. This paper demonstrates the need to research attitudes to safety in the past, in order to develop and apply effective contemporary solutions. The considerations contained in it also concern the existing threats to the management of state organs. They may contribute to further discussions on the purpose and rules of operation of the formation which is supposed to protect the most important people in the state.
