Infertility is defined as inability of a couple to conceive after one year of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. Incidence of ovarian dysfunction in the form of Polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD) has become a leading cause of female infertility in today’s era. Polycystic Ovarian disease (PCOD) is a heterogeneous, multifactorial and polygenic endocrinal disorder. Acharya Sushrut explained about Bandhya Yonivya pada where Nashtartava is mentioned as the one and only symptom. In Ayurveda text word Aartava has been used extensively in different contexts; menstrual blood, ovum and ovarian hormones. Therefore Amenorrhea, anovulation, hormonal dysfunction can be considered as visible manifestations of Nashtartva. So, here an attempt has been made to explore Samshodhan (Virechan) as a possible line of treatment for Bandhya (Nashtartava). Material and method: Following is a case report of a female who was anxious to conceive after 4 years of active married life, along with H/O delayed menses.  Her USG reports showed polycystic appearance of ovaries and anovulation was noticed in follicular study. During this case study evaluation of Shodhan therapy (Virechan) and Shaman therapy in infertility due to ovulatory dysfunction was done. Result: Before the treatment patient was a known case of infertility due to PCOD and after treatment she conceived and delivered a healthy female baby. Discussion: Line of treatment was to enhance potency of ovum and with the help of Virechankarma, regularize vitiated Vata Dosha, Shrotoshuddhi and Aartava janan. Conclusion: Ayurveda therapy can be used in patients of infertility due to PCOD for better outcome and no adverse drug effect was noticed.

Female infertility results from a myriad of causes – genetic and nongenetic. Sometimes a genetic aetiology is clearly evident. In other disorders heritable tendencies exist, but the precise genetic aetiology remains obscure. In this communication we shall consider the genetics of selected common causes of female infertility: premature ovarian failure; leiomyomata; polycystic ovarian disease; endometriosis. Not discussed here are disorders of gonadal differentiation primarily causing gonadal failure and disorders of female internal ducts, both considered elsewhere by the author and colleagues. The current contribution inevitably mirrors these other publications.

Solitary mastocytoma, a rare dermatological entity accounts for 10-15% of cutaneous mastocytosis. We report a rare case of solitary mastocytoma presenting at birth, treated successfully with topical tacrolimus. Along with reassurance and strict avoidance of triggering factors, no recurrence was reported within the one year follow-up period.

Infertility is the condition of about 15% of couples that cannot get a conception after one year of unprotected sexual intercourse. In females, the reduced reproductive capacity underlies the most varied causes. Dietary supplements (DS) might be used to improve the pregnancy rate and a wide range of DS are proposed today to support female fertility. Although many authors demonstrated the positive effect of some of these products, the real efficacy of this approach is still debated. In order to evaluate the potential efficacy of DS for female infertility, we analysed the products marketed in Italy, using an original approach. A review of literature was performed to evaluate the effect of nutraceuticals on various female reproductive outcomes and to detect the minimal effective daily dose (mED) able to improve at least one of these. Thereafter, we conceived a formula to classify the expected efficacy of each DS. Each DS was scored and included into three classes of expected efficacy: higher, lower, and none. Ten out of 24 supplements (41.7%) resulted in the higher and 8 (34.3%) in the lower efficacy group, the remaining 6 DS (25.0%) were expected to have no efficacy. DS marketed in Italy are usually blends of many substances that are frequently employed at a negligible dose or without any evidence of efficacy. These findings raise serious doubt about the potential effectiveness of most commercial DS for female infertility.

AbstractObjective:This paper describes a patient with recurrent unilateral nasal discomfort and pain due to an intranasal tooth. A short overview of the literature is provided in relation to the aetiology, symptomatology, diagnosis and treatment of intranasal teeth.Case report:A 26-year-old man was referred with a history of recurrent left-sided nasal obstruction, facial pain and discomfort, and chronic purulent rhinorrhoea. Computed tomography revealed a nasal tooth, which was likely to have been the cause of these symptoms. After transnasal surgical extraction under endoscopic guidance, the patient was relieved of his complaints (at the one-year follow up). Conclusion:An ectopic tooth in the nasal cavity is a rare phenomenon, and in most cases the cause of an intranasal tooth remains unclear. The treatment of an intranasal tooth entails surgical extraction even though such teeth may remain asymptomatic; several cases have illustrated the potential significant morbidity associated with their occurrence.

A 10-month-old, neutered male Saint Bernard presented for evaluation of acute, severe vomiting. A soft-tissue mass was noted within the stomach on survey abdominal radiographs. The diagnosis of pylorogastric intussusception was made during exploratory celiotomy. The intussusception was manually reduced at surgery, the pyloric antrum was enlarged, and the duodenum was permanently affixed to the abdominal wall in an attempt to prevent recurrence of the intussusception. The dog recovered, has gained weight (5 kg), and has had only one isolated episode of vomiting during the one year since discharge from the hospital. This report documents the fourth reported case of pylorogastric (i.e., duodenogastric, gastrogastric) intussusception in the veterinary literature and is the first report that details the surgical management of the disease.

Background: Cutaneous horn (CH) is a conical hyperkatotic projection of skin with keratotic material. A broad variety of lesions may be found with clinical aspect of cutaneous horn, including malignant tumors.  Case report: We report a case of patient with 77- year-old male, presenting an asymptomatic lesion with clinical aspect of CH in lower lip. The clinical diagnosis hypothesis was squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and an incisional biopsy was performed. The histopathological analysis revealed a keratoacantoma (KA) and the lesion was completely removed. The one year follow-up revealed no recurrence. Discussion: CH rarely is accompanied by KA. However, KA shows a greater degree of nuclear atypia than SCC making the differentiation of two diseases very difficult. This case highligh the importance of histopathological examination to rule out malignancy.

Abstract Aim The purpose of this case report is to describe a nonsurgical endodontic treatment of a mandibular left second premolar with two separate roots and three distinct root canals. Background In endodontics, the possible existence of extra canals must be considered before endodontic treatment is instituted. A wide morphological variation of the root canal system is known to exist. Case Description A 36-year-old male patient was referred for endodontic treatment on the left mandibular second premolar. Radiographic examination of the involved tooth revealed an unusual, complex root canal anato my. There was an irregular root morphology consisting of two distinct roots and three canals. Summary This case report describes the successful nonsurgical endodontic treatment of a mandibular left second premolar with two separate roots and three distinct root canals filled using size 35 Thermafil guttapercha carriers and AH Plus sealer. On the one-year follow-up radiograph, the tooth was asymptomatic, confirming adequate healing with no complications. Clinical Significance Even in a tooth with an extremely complex root canal morphology, conventional endodontic treatment without surgical intervention can result in adequate healing without any complications.
