The socio-historical factors in the development of methods for studying the library fund through the prism of the formation of the conceptual and scientific-theoretical apparatus of fund science, as well as the process of improving the methodology of library science research are characterized. The formation of these methods is analyzed in connection with the development of the theory and methodology of fund science as an integral part of library science in the context of the transformation of the forms of library activity, the expansion of new methods of organizing and methods of analyzing the library fund, due to the emergence of information and digital technologies.

Authors analysed the characteristics of articles published by the Indian based authors in the ‘Information Science & Library Science’ subject category of Web of Science during 1991-2015. In this study, total 708 articles derived from the Web of Science database were analysed. The Indian contributions to the Information Science and Library Science quite meager in compare to world’s contribution. However, the Indian based articles were kept rising from 1991 to 2015. The articles published from1996 to 2005 have greater impact and the trend is towards multiple authors. The Scientometrics was the most productive journal; almost 25 per cent of the Indian articles were published during the period. Gupta, BM was the most productive author and articles published by the Bhattacharya, S, Nagpaul, PS and Rao, IKR had greater impact on the subject as well as fellow researches in the subject category of IS & LS.

Today the scientific research has become of increased significance for the library activities. This calls for implementing new research methods. The Abstracts Journal “Informatics” was analyzed for the publications on “Research methods” for the 10-year period; the findings are discussed, i.e. the rise of interest methods in the library and information community toward applying research, positive dynamics of the document flow with the 10-year doubling period. Over 100 research methods are identified. Thematically, the stable part of the document flows make approximately one-fifth of the total volume. Twenty three methods are used most frequently. The subject headings for these methods demonstrate stability which means permanent interest toward these methods and stable vectors of research methods development. Metric methods are dominating, including those being used in the digital environment. The increase of subject headings efficiency evidences on their increasing relevancy. Mobile document flows characterize the newest research methods. These are the methods being borrowed from other fields and used occasionally in the library and information studies. “The research methods” topic appears to be a trending and a developing one. The core methods are defined. Nevertheless, the major part of the document flow remains decentralized and comprises many new vectors that, while being quite relevant, have not found their niche in the library science research.

AbstractInterest in real-time fMRI neurofeedback has grown exponentially over the past few years, both for use as a basic science research tool, and as part of the search for novel clinical interventions for neurological and psychiatric illnesses. In order to expand the range of questions which can be addressed with this tool however, new neurofeedback methods must be developed, going beyond feedback of activations in a single region. These new methods, several of which have already been proposed, are by their nature complex, involving many possible parameters. Here we suggest a framework for evaluating and optimizing algorithms for use in a real-time setting, before beginning the neurofeedback experiment, by offline simulations of algorithm output using a previously collected dataset. We demonstrate the application of this framework on the instantaneous proxy for correlations which we developed for training connectivity between different network nodes, identify the optimal parameters for use with this algorithm, and compare it to more traditional correlation methods. We also examine the effects of advanced imaging techniques, such as multi-echo acquisition, and the integration of these into the realtime processing stream.

Previous studies have presented a radical change in library and information science research topics in North America. This article investigates library and information science doctoral dissertations in China in terms of their topics and interdisciplinarity in the past 20 years. The results do not find a significant change in library and information science dissertation topics in China but reveal that the increase of library and information science doctoral research in the area of information science is attributed to an increase in admissions to Information Science majors compared to other majors (Library Science and Archive Studies). This study also shows that the academic background of library and information science doctoral advisors does not affect the interdisciplinarity of their students’ doctoral dissertations in China.

The article deals with the assessment of the factors that determine the development of mapping pro- duction in Russia. There is now a need for a scientific methodology assessing these factors, in order to anticipate their emergence, determine the extent of influence and develop a management strategy. It is shown that the changes taking place in the production sphere are connected with the development of digital technologies and the introduction of new methods in arranging mapping production. However, in order to determine the trends in the geodesy and cartography industry, unforeseen external environmental factors which have radically changed the system of labor organization in many industries, such as Covid-19, need to be taken into account. The main factors influencing the map publishing in Russia during various historical periods, starting with the emergence of the first mapping publishing houses in the XVII century up to the present day, are considered. Their classification was carried out. The state regulation in cartography and the change of economics were studied in detail.
