Purpose: This study set out to empirically examine the relationship between inventory management and private hospitals' financial performance in Western Uganda. Methodology: The study adopted a positivist approach and a cross-sectional research design to collect data from 32 Private hospitals in Western Uganda. The study used a closed-ended questionnaire to collect data and simple linear regression for data analysis. Findings: Results revealed inventory management as a significant predictor of private hospitals' financial performance in Western Uganda. The study recommended that private hospitals adopt robust and scientific inventory management systems and models that aim to optimise stock levels and minimise costs if they are to achieve substantial financial performance. Contribution to Practice and Policy: The study has deep-rooted the urgent need for private hospitals to adopt more stringent inventory management systems that will ensure adequate stock levels, minimise costs and enhance superior financial performance. However, the study was positivistic, thus subject to methods bias that could have affected the results' validity.

Purpose: To ascertain the relationship between credit management systems and financial performance of SACCOs in Mid-Western Uganda.Methodology: A cross-sectional research design and positivist paradigm were used to collect data from 93 SACCOs in Mid-Western Uganda using a closed-ended questionnaire. Standard linear regression analysis was carried out.Findings: The study findings reveal a moderate, positive and significant relationship between credit management systems and financial performance of SACCOs in Mid-Western Uganda.Unique contribution to practice and policy: This study suggests to management a need to put into place effective credit management systems if SACCOs are to improve their financial performance by ensuring that favorable terms and conditions, and adequate client appraisal process are in place. In addition, government should support SACCOs by providing staff trainings on credit terms and conditions formulation and improving their competencies in client appraisal

PurposeThe purpose of this study is twofold (1) to establish the relationship between inventory management, managerial competence and financial performance and (2) to test whether inventory management mediates the relationship between managerial competence and financial performance.Design/methodology/approachWe employed cross-sectional and correlational research designs. A questionnaire survey of 304 small businesses in Uganda was utilized. Hypotheses were tested using a bootstrap analysis technique with the aid of Analysis of Moments Structures (AMOS) software.FindingsResults indicate that inventory management and managerial competence are significantly associated with financial performance of small businesses. Further, inventory management partially mediates the relationship between managerial competence and financial performance.Originality/valueRather than focusing on only the direct effects of managerial competence and inventory management, moreover independently, the indirect effect of inventory management is tested. Further, the behavioral perspective of inventory management, as opposed to financial ratios, is utilized.

Correlation and standard linear regression analyses were conducted.Findings: The study findings reveal a strong, positive and significant relationship between control environment and financial performance of SACCOs in Mid-Western Uganda.Unique contribution to practice and policy: This study emphasizes the need for top management to emphasize the importance of designing and implementing effective and efficient control environment. In addition, the government of Uganda needs to review its strategies that are geared at ensuring that SACCOs achieve sustainable financial performance

Purpose: This study aimed at examining the mediating effect of competitive advantage in the relationship between working capital management (WCM) and the financial performance of private hospitals in Western Uganda. Methodology: The study adopted a positivist approach and a cross-sectional research design to collect data from 32 Private hospitals in Western Uganda. A closed-ended questionnaire was used to collect data from hospital administrators, accountants, storekeepers and pharmacists in private hospitals who were purposively selected. Hierarchical multiple regression was used for data analysis. Findings: Results indicate that competitive advantage is a significant mediator in the relationship between working capital management and private hospitals' financial performance in Western Uganda. Unique Contribution to practice and policy: The study has deep-rooted the urgent need for private hospitals to adopt more innovative strategies to attain a competitive edge and hence superior financial performance. This study aimed to measure the incidence rate of brucellosis in dairy cattle at Batu City based onserological tests (seroprevalence) and to determine the relationship between the incidence ofbrucellosis and reproductive disorders. Cross-sectional epidemiological research was conducted todetermine the prevalence of brucellosis in dairy cows. Serum samples were obtained from 130dairy cows over 6 months of age, reproductive disorders data using a questionnaire on 21 farmers.Serological testing used the Rose Bengal Test (RBT) and continued with the Complement FixationTest (CFT). The data analysis used Pearson's Chi-Square correlation statistical test. Theseroprevalence of brucellosis at Batu City was 0.7%. The prevalence of reproductive disorders indairy cows was 29.2% consisted of 8.5% abortion and 20.8% repeated mating. There was acorrelation between brucellosis and the incidence of abortion (2 = 10.90; P<0.05) and a correlation between the incidence of abortion and the age more than 3 years (2 = 5.35; P<0.05). The conclusion of this study showed that the prevalence of brucellosis at Batu city was low (<2%).The results of this study could be used as the basis for implementing a vaccination program anderadicating brucellosis at East Java

Having a board of directors is very important to ensure the smooth running of business processes and have an impact on the company's financial performance. This study to determine the impact of board characteristics namely board size, board ownership and board composition on the financial performance of organizations as measured by Return on Assets. The study employed a descriptive-explanatory research design based on a cross-sectional approach. Correlation and regression analyses were conducted to determine the depth and extent of the relationship between the variables. The study revealed a positive and significant association between the board size and financial performance on an average of 9 board members. Board composition revealed that having more external directors had no effect on the financial performance, it neither increased it nor decreased it, leading to the rejection of the hypothesis. On the other hand, board ownership was found to be beneficial in terms of having directors as owners of the business, corroborating the Stakeholder Theory. The studies showed that there was still a need to select board members with caution striking a balance between the number of directors as well as their composition to ensure that the organization reaps maximum benefits from the board.

Objective: The inventory management faces a trade-off which affects firms in the relationship between whether maintaining high inventories and decreasing the probability of stock-outs or keeping inventory levels lower and applying the excess cash to other investments. Thus, this paper investigates the relationship between inventory management and performance. Method: The sample is comprised of non-financial Brazilian firms listed in the BM&FBovespa from 2010 to 2016, and due to inventory is not to be a relevant factor in the revenues of all the firms of the initial sample, it was applied a procedure to refine the sample through a simple linear regression to only comprise firms with a significant relationship between inventory and sales. To test the assumptions declared by the study, we used a quantitative approach based in a regression analysis. Results: The results indicate that the model which considers value added measurement of performance shows that there is no relationship between inventory and performance. However, a robustness check was done using the ROA to measure the performance and, in this scenario, there was a statistically inverted U-shaped relation between the profitability, the net trade cycle and its square. This means that a non-linear relationship between the variables were found, which follows the idea of an optimal level of inventory and performance. Contributions: To the best of the author’s knowledge, this is the first study that investigates an inflection point between inventory management and performance in Brazilian firms. The findings have relevant practical guidelines to the Brazilian firms and researchers in the analysis of the performance related to the net trade cycle, which it can be suggested that the Brazilian shareholders are not concerned about internal factors, as the inventory management, but if the firm is being managed profitable.

Abstract Background: Workplace climate is great significant element that has impact on nurses’ behavior and practice; moreover, nurses’ service behavior contributes to the patients’ satisfaction and subsequently to the long-term success of hospitals. Few studies explore how different types of organizational ethical climate encourage nurses to engage in both in-role and extra-role service behaviors, especially in comparing the influencing process between public and private hospitals. This study aimed to compare the relationship between the five types of ethical climate and nurses’ in-role and extra-role service behaviors in public and private hospitals.Methods: This study conducted a cross-sectional survey on 559 nurses from China. All participants were investigated using the Ethical Climate Scale and Service Behavior Questionnaire. SPSS 22.0 was used for correlation analysis, t-test and analysis of variance test, and Mplus 7.4 was used for group comparison.Results: The law and code climate has a much greater influence on nurses’ in-role service behavior in private hospitals than on that in public hospitals (β = -.277; CI 95% = [-.452, -.075]; p < .01), and the instrumental climate has a stronger influence on nurses’ extra-role service behavior private hospitals than on that in public hospitals (β = -.352; CI 95% = [-.651, -.056]; p < .05). Meanwhile, the rules climate has a greater effect on nurses’ extra-role service behavior in public hospitals than it does in private hospitals (β = .397; CI 95% = [.120, .651]; p < .01). Conclusions: As the relationship between the five types of ethical climate and nurses’ in-role and extra-role service behaviors in public and private hospitals were different, the strategies used to foster and enhance the types of ethical climate are various from public to private hospitals. The caring and instrumental climate are the key to promote extra-role service behavior for nurses in private hospitals. And independent climate has great effect on extra-role service behaviors for nurses in public hospitals.

LEADERSHIP STYLE, MOTIVATION IN EFFECTIVE PATIENT ROUNDING TECHNIQUESBackground : The Nursing round is the way for a nurses to discuss more about the problems and needs of patients and is a learning process for nurses it hopes of improving cognitive, affective, psychomotor and motivated bias. The results of the interview with the head of the Raden Mattaher General Hospital operating room in Jambi found that nursing rounds were very rare.Purpose: The study is to determine the relationship between nurse motivation and leadership style of nursing rounds in the Surgical Inpatient Room of Raden Mattaher Hospital in Jambi City.Methods: The research was used a quantitative research with cross sectional approach. This study was conducted in the Surgical hospitalization rooms. The population of this study were all of nurses who worked in the Surgical Inpatient Room of Raden Mattaher Hospital in Jambi which totaling 38 nurses. The samples were taken in total sampling thenique. The data collection did by filling out a questionnaire. The data analysis used univariate and bivariate by using chi square test.Results: The results of this study indicated that of 38 respondents, 55.3% had low motivation, 71.1% with good leadership style and 57.9% who did a nursing round. There is no relationship between nurses' motivation for the nursing round with p value 0.122> 0.05. There is a relationship of leadership style to the nursing round because the p value is 0.002 <0.05.Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the leadership style influences the nursing round.Latar Belakang: Ronde keperawatan merupakan media bagi perawat untuk membahas lebih dalam masalah dan kebutuhan pasien serta merupakan suatu proses belajar bagi perawat dengan harapan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif, afektif, psikomotor dan bisa termotivasi. Hasil wawancara kepada kepala ruangan bedah RSUD Raden Mattaher Jambi diketahui ronde keperawatan sangat jarang sekali dilakukan.Tujuan: Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan motivasi perawat dan gaya kepemimpinan terhadap ronde keperawatan diruang rawat inap bedah RSUD Raden Mattaher Jambi.Metode: Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantiatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Penelitian ini dilakukan diruang rawat inap bedah, dengan populasi penelitian seluruh perawat pelaksana yang berkerja diruang rawat inap bedah RSUD Raden Mattaher Jambi yang berjumlah 38 perawat. Sample diambil secara total sampling. Pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan pengisian kuesioner, analisis yang digunakan adalah univariat dan bivariat dengan menggunakan uji chi square.Hasil: Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dari 38 responden, 55,3% memiliki motivasi rendah, 71,1% dengan gaya kepemimpinan baik dan 57,9% yang melakukan ronde keperawatan. Tidak terdapat hubungan motivasi perawat terhadap ronde keperawatan dengan p value 0,002 > 0,05. Terdapat hubungan gaya kepemimpinan terhadap ronde keperawatan karena nilai p value 0,002<0,05.Kesimpulan : Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan mempengaruhi ronde keperawatan.
