This issue of supply chain management is very important for the stakeholder groups. Due to the complexity of the supply chain, its management often requires manual work and frequent sharing of information. This paper proposes a new approach that uses block chain technology to resolve the issue and improve the efficiency of the supply chain. Block chain is a distributed database that enables users to trust each other without intermediaries. Its decentralized nature and its ability to verify transactions through automated algorithms make it a safer and more secure alternative to the existing supply chain model. Due to the complexity of the coffee supply chain, the accuracy of the data collected during the CRC process became an issue. This study proposed the use of Block chain technology to address these issues.

Recently, with the environmental crisis, Green supply chain management (or GSCM), and in particular closed loop supply chain model, has received considerable attention by researchers. Closed loop supply chain model aims at reduction of waste and generating profit for enterprises through integrating forward and reverse logistics. Unfortunately, there is limited research on general models for closed loop supply chains in literature. In this paper, extending and enhancing previous models, a general model is proposed for closed loop supply chains using linear programming. The goal of this study is to minimize the leakage of a closed loop supply chain to avoid waste and reduce SCM costs.

This article is focused on a sub domain of quality, namely, quality of service. Considering supply chain management, the authors believe that it is important to distinguish between a quality of product (also service) offered by producers and service providers and a quality of service which is achieved between any supplier and customer, not only a consumer, along a supply chain. Quality of product represents producer’s/service provider’s commitment and is subject of various quality certificates issued by inspection authorities. This research examines the quality of service, which is provided by a supplier to its customer along the supply chain, between any pair of chain elements fulfilling this relation, including the common retailer-consumer relation. The authors introduce measurement points into a consumer-centric supply chain model for the defined criteria and defined the method of their monitoring and overall supply chain quality of service evaluation. Finally, the authors assess the envisaged impact of the results of their measurements on supply chain excellence, providing management with an opportunity to identify weak spots.

Supply chain management has been investigated for the configuring and controlling of material and information flows among different organizations. The trend has been toward even more flexible or dynamic supply chains to find suitable business partners and enter into profitable contracts. Previous studies have proposed a two-layered supply chain model consisting of two kinds of organization: clients and suppliers. This study proposes a new model representing multi-layered dynamic supply chains and a negotiation protocol in multi-layered organizations. The organizations in the middle-layers generate both orders of parts for suppliers and offers of products for clients. Production schedules in the middle-layers continue to be modified after orders are sent to suppliers. Suppliers simultaneously generate and modify sets of production schedules for individual orders to find the most profitable order of all. The effectiveness of the model and the negotiation protocol is evaluated through computational experiments.

Lean is a management philosophy to eliminate waste both in the inside and from the outside of factories. A supply chain strategy is a key issue for the improvement of the outside. Recent information technologies provide even small- and medium-sized supplier companies with a chance for entering into contracts with major supplier companies and large manufacturing companies in different Keiretsu groups, but will give the trouble for surviving in the dynamic supply chain environment at the same time. This chapter proposes a strategy for MTO (Make To Order) companies to find suitable business partners in the dynamic supply chain environment and to enter into proper contracts with the partners as well as to obtain appropriate profits. A supply chain model proposed in the chapter provides a negotiation protocol to determine suitable prices and delivery times for ordered products through the iteration of the negotiation process between the organizations, as well as through the modification processes of production schedules. A two-layered supply chain model is firstly proposed as a basic model for dynamic supply chain management of MTO companies. The model is extended to a three-layered supply chain model for representing the negotiation protocol among multi-layered organizations. A prototype of a supply chain simulation system is developed and computational experiments are carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of changing business partners and negotiating among the partners cooperatively.

Due to the intensely increasing competition and rapidly changing demand, Mass Customization(MC) manufacture has been the new trend for modern enterprises to respond quickly to the variational and individual demand in global market. To satisfy the operation of MC manufacture, its supply chain must be effective and flexible enough. Findings of researches and practices have shown that some intelligent activities, such as negotiation, decision and collaboration, have become the “bottleneck” to improve the performance of supply chain. This paper applied the Autonomous Intelligent System(AIS) to deal with the intelligent activities intelligently and automatically, and thereof provided a new method for the Supply Chain Management(SCM) on MC manufacture. First, a new supply chain model based on E-HUB was presented according to the requirements of MC manufacture, and then the structure and operation of AIS were designed to support that SCM. Finally, the development technology of AIS was discussed.

In recent years, product ontology has been proposed for solving integration problems in product-related information systems such as e-commerce and supply chain management applications. A product ontology provides consensual definitions of concepts and inter-relationships being relevant in a product domain of interest. Adopting such an ontology requires means for assessing their suitability and selecting the “right” product ontology. In this article, the authors (1) propose a metrics suite for product ontology evaluation based on semiotic theory, and (2) demonstrate the feasibility and usefulness of the metrics suite using a supply chain model. The contribution of our research is the comprehensive metrics suite that takes into account the various quality dimensions of product ontology.
