Teaching is indeed a complex provision, which requires teachers being competent in many respects. They should be very knowledgeable in subjects they teach; they should also acquire skills in transferring their subject matters; they need to be skillful in classroom management, and are capable of designing and developing teaching materials. For that reasons, teachers should always engage in professional development to guarantee their best performance. Understanding teachers’ ways of classroom practices is the first step for teachers’ professional development. Therefore, it is timely to conduct a classroom research to explore teachers’ performance, and thus this research explored teachers’ classroom practices in six vocational schools in Aceh. The data was collected mainly through observation of the instructional process in the classroom and in the workshop. The research found several effective attributes of teachers, such as creative, interactive, democratic, intelligent, smart, and well-prepared teachers. The study also identified ‘negative’ teachers’ attributes, such as authoritative, dominated, and withdrawn teachers.

This study aims to map the learning of Arabic in Senior High Schools and Vocational Schools in Malang Regency covering the aspects of 1) teacher qualification, 2) curriculum and development, 3) teaching materials, 4) teaching strategies, 5) instructional media, and 6) evaluation implementation. The research was conducted with a descriptive model. Of the population 183 Senior High School and Vocational Schools, 12 schools were taken using a cluster sampling. The data were collected using questionnaires filled by Arabic teachers in all sample schools. The data analysis was performed according to the steps a) identification of data, b) tabulation of data, c) data grouping, d) data quantification, and e) description of data. This study found (1) all Arabic teachers in Senior High Schools and Vocational Schools in Malang Regency have a standard qualification of Arabic teacher in school, (2) Senior High Schools and Vocational Schools in Malang Regency using the Ministry of Education and Culture KTSP curriculum which was elaborated by teachers into syllabus form and Lesson plans, (3) teaching materials used were in the form of textbooks and student worksheets with various titles and publishers, (4) reading and vocabulary learning was carried out with translation techniques; speaking skills were trained by giving students time to practice dialogue, and writing skills were trained through sentence exercises, copying texts, combining two sentences, and completing paragraphs; (5) teachers utilized instructional media, drawings, original objects, hearing, charts/scheme, or language lab; and (6) the majority of teachers evaluated the lessons at the end of each unit.

Shubinsky, Doctor of Engineering, for his recommendations regarding the choice of the theoretical background that provided the foundation for the practical research, as well as hisadvice and valuable observations that contributed to this paper.Abstract. Aim. Uninterrupted transportation process is ensured by the highly dependable and safe power supply system of railway transport. In addition, the railway power supply system provides power to external consumers. A risk-oriented approach to railway transportation management requires an infrastructure risk management and safety system. The main purpose of risk management in this area is to improve the dependability and safety of railway infrastructure facilities [1, 2]. Additionally, given the growing numbers of intelligent information systems, as well as automated railway transportation management systems, the task of ensuring functional safety becomes very important. In most cases this problem is solved by introducing redundancy that is understood as an exceeding complexity of the system structure compared to the minimal values required for the performance of the specified task [3]. The simplest way of ensuring redundancy is by creating backup capabilities, particularly standby duplication within the system of functional units and components. In order to evaluate the safety of the railway transportation power supply systems it is required to calculate the functional safety indicators of their components and system as a whole taking into account the factor of redundancy. This approach will enable the optimal redundancy architectures and ensure compliance with the assigned level of general system safety. That requires taking into consideration the complex structure of the evaluated facilities: presence of diagnostics systems, right-side failures, wrong-side failures, as well as their random nature. The paper aims to develop an applied algorithm of calculation and prediction of functional safety indicators using the example of railway power supply systems that can be used in both manual and automated calculation.Methods. The power supply system evaluated for functional safety indicators is, from the functional point of view, a sequence of function implementations, while the failures of its components are random and some of them cause hazardous events. In this case, system analysis commonly involves Markovian and semi-Markovian methods, as well as graph methods. The advantage of these methods consists in the capability to evaluate the functional safety indicators of complex systems that go into many states, which is also typical for railway power supply systems.Result. This paper examines the application of graph semiMarkovian methods for calculation of stationary and non-stationary functional safety indicators for components of power supply systems taking into account redundancy and right-side failures. This algorithm allows calculating safety indicators using the example of power supply systems and includes a set of incremental actions aimed at constructing the state graph, calculation of the initial and intermediate graph factors. An example is provided of calculation of the functional safety indicators of a graph of a traction substation power transformer.

Coronavirus spread around the world affects many things. Education is one of many affected sectors. Indonesia is a country which mostly effected by Coronavirus. Thousand students throughout the nations left the schools and start adapting a distance learning. It forces all teachers and students to learn and adapt to online learning. English teaching materials play a role in providing students with contextual knowledge. By far, English learning materials have only been inserted about moral values and other values. Though, English teaching materials are considered possible to be a means of learning students on issues related to disaster education. This research investigates the media platforms and materials used by English teachers during the pandemic in vocational high schools in East Lampung. The study used Cross-sectional Designs Survey with questionnaires as data collection techniques. Participants of 27 vocational schools of English teachers. The survey was done in the beginning of first semester. The aims are to know the materials and platforms which are used also to see the teachers’ understanding regarding the disaster education during a global pandemic. The findings gained are (1) Most teachers use WhatsApp in providing teaching materials. (2) The majority of respondents were aware of disaster education but only limited to COVID issues. (3) English teachers have not understood the overall disaster education. There are three main suggestions of this current work : Incorporating of teaching materials integrated with disaster education, environmental, and natural issues. Maximizing the fore on the application of online learning. Enhancing of disaster education at all levels of education.

Teaching materials are developed based on the characteristics of students, so that the specified competencies can be achieved. In general, students' problem solving abilities are still very low, students have not been able to understand the problem, so it is constrained in determining the mathematical problem solving model. This study aims to describe the validity, effectiveness, and response of students to Problem Based Learning-based teaching materials that are problem-solving skills developed.
