Paul and Matthew: A Descriptive Approach From A Post-New Perspective Interpretative Framework

El artículo analiza el intento del Estado Novo y el Franquismo por definirse como «democracias orgánicas» a partir de 1945 y lo sitúa en el marco de la lucha por conceptualizar el término «democracia» que tuvo lugar en la Europa de posguerra. Combinando la historia política y la historia comparada y utilizando los discursos realizados por los principales representantes de ambas dictaduras entre 1945 y 1957, el artículo proporciona el primer análisis de las principales características de tal discurso y sus conexiones con el desarrollado durante esos mismos años por los principales actores de la política europea. De este modo, el artículo aporta una nueva perspectiva para evaluar los procesos de integración de ambas dictaduras en la Comunidad Internacional posterior a 1945. Además, matiza el relato del proceso de conceptualización de la democracia en la Europa de posguerra. Finalmente, reta el marco interpretativo según el cual ambas dictaduras quedaron aisladas y completamente desconectadas de la historia europea tras la derrota del Eje.AbstractThis article analyzes the post-1945 attempt of the Portuguese New State and Francoism to define themselves as «organic democracies» and places it within the framework of the struggle to conceptualize democracy that took place in postwar Europe. By combining political and comparative history and resorting to discourses delivered by the main political authorities of both dictatorships between 1945 and 1957, the article provides the first account of the major characteristics of such a discourse and its connections with the discourses on democracy that the main European political actors developed during the postwar. In doing so, it provides a new perspective to assess both dictatorships integration process into the post-1945 International Community. Moreover, it nuances the account of the process of conceptualization of democracy in postwar Europe. Finally, it challenges the interpretative framework according to which both regimes became isolated and completely disconnected from European history after the Axis defeat.

With the developments in Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), the functional approach to translation studies (TS) has offered new perspective into understanding how translation can be viewed as the re-instantiation of Source Text (ST) in another language system as Target Text (TT).In literary texts, language variations such as literary dialects have long been considered challenges in translation, but literary dialects are also believed to be “valued” linguistic elements since non-standard language such as dialects are socially related and may trigger linguistic stereotypes among readers. In tune with the new development in SFL, the current research focuses on the English translations of dialects in Li Jieren’s Si Shui Wei Lan (死水微澜) which is rich in Sichuan dialects and are with linguistically varied voices. The purpose of this article is threefold: firstly, to briefly present the linguistic features of ST, revealing author’s intentional arrangement in his choices of dialects; secondly, with case studies to compare and discuss the translators’ choices in re-instantiating dialects from the perspective of coupling and commitment; finally, to offer suggestions for translating literary dialects. This paper argues that SFL helps translators pinpoint the linguistic features that are valued in ST and inform translators of alternative renderings. This paper adopts a descriptive approach to the triplet on how translators re-coupled and re-committed the language variations in the ST into TT, and it serves as a manifestation of how SFL applies to TS from a new angel.

<p><em>The Analects, Chinese original name Lun Yu, as the most important Confucius book, has enjoyed its powerful vitality with its enduring influence in Sinology home and abroad. People have made many attempts to explore its problems of translations, hoping to account for factors behind individual versions of Lun Yu. However, what the researchers based either on language-oriented or culture-oriented theory, a systematic study is on demand with the development on Confucianism research. This thesis explores two English versions of Lun Yu in light of the adaptation theory of Translational ecology. It provides a new way to interpret Lun Yu as the representative cultural classic. The research objective can be attained as: in light of Verscheren’s adaptation theory, different translations of Lun Yu can be investigated comprehensively at the Language-internal and the language-external levels. The adaptation theory can manifest the translators’ subjectivity according to different eco-translational environment. Moreover, the research focuses on Kung Hung ming’s translation version and Arther Waley’s version with their distinct features which can thrown light on the readers to understand Lun Yu from a new perspective. In this thesis, a descriptive approach is adopted in the comparative analysis on the two versions of Lun Yu. This research can provide an attempting and concept for the broader context of translation study.</em></p>

Abstract: The study of this paper originated from the author's anxiety about the appropriate method of training church members. The author tries to provide a new perspective in the formation of new members of the congregation in the form of transformative deacons. The author offers another way of evangelizing and developing a deacon, namely, a shelter for camps. The author uses a descriptive approach to narrating the facts in the field. Data is collected, reduced and then analyzed so that conclusions are drawn from the facts found. The result was that the halfway house had become a place to preach the gospel in the interior of Mount Meratus. This tent house is a learning space for children to know Christ. A halfway house is a place for children to be guided with skills and independence in various daily activities to become human beings with integrity. The facts found in the field show that there are still many children who come from Christian families who do not understand life as a good Christian. The halfway house, the blessed tent, is present not only as a place for learning for children but for parents as well—a halfway house to help children attend. Children are invited to help others in need.  Keywords: Halfway House, Evangelism, Transformative Diaconia  Abstrak: Kajian tulisan ini berawal dari kegelisahan penulis mengenai metode yang tepat dalam pembinaan warga jemaat. Penulis berusaha memberi perspektif baru dalam pembinaan warga jemaat yang baru dalam bentuk diakonia transformatif. Penulis menawarkan cara lain dalam penginjilan dan pengembangan diakonia yakni rumah singgah kemah. Penulis menggunakan pendekatan dekrriptif untuk menarasikan fakta yang ada di lapangan. Data dikumpulkan, direduksi kemudian dianalisis sehingga ditarik kesimpulan dari fakta yang ditemukan. Hasil yang ditemukan adalah rumah singgah telah menjadi tempat mewartakan injil di pedalaman gunung Meratus. Rumah kemah ini menjadi ruang belajar anak-anak untuk mengenal Kristus. Rumah singgah adalah tempat anak-anak dibimbing keterampilan, kemandirian dalam berbagai kegiatan sehari-hari dengan tujuan supaya menjadi manusia yang berintegritas. Kenyataan ditemukan di lapangan memperlihatkan bahwa masih bayak anak yang berasal dari keluarga Kristen belum memahami hidup sebagai orang Kristen yang baik. Rumah singgah kemah berkah hadir tidak hanya sebagai wadah belajar anak-anak tetapi orang tua juga. Rumah singgah membantu anak dapat madiri. Anak-anak diajak untuk membantu orang lain dalam kekurangan.  Kata Kunci: Rumah Singgah, Penginjilan, Diakonia Transformatif

The understanding of the interactions between the small metallic particles and ceramic surfaces has been studied by many catalyst scientists. We had developed Scanning Reflection Electron Microscopy technique to study surface structure of MgO hulk cleaved surface and the interaction with the small particle of metals. Resolutions of 10Å has shown the periodic array of surface atomic steps on MgO. The SREM observation of the interaction between the metallic particles and the surface may provide a new perspective on such processes.

This paper describes the concept of teaching articulation through words which have inherent meaning to a child’s life experience, such as a semantically potent word approach. The approach was used with six children. Comparison of pre/post remediation measures indicated that it has promise as a technique for facilitating increased correct phoneme production.
