One of the most promising technologies for restoring machine parts and cylinder liners is electric spark treatment as the most versatile technology that provides high-quality restoration of worn parts with wear up to 0.5 mm. (Research purpose) The research purpose is in developing a technology for restoring various cylinder liners by means of electric spark processing, selecting optimal modes and electrode materials that allow improving the quality of repair and increasing the post-repair life of the sleeve. (Materials and methods) It was taken into account when conducting research aimed at restoring the geometric parameters of the sleeve, that the coating must have sufficient adhesion strength to the surface of the sleeve under mechanical, thermal loads and long-term operation. Laboratory studies of the adhesion strength of electric spark coatings on the separation (adhesive) and on the cut, as well as tribotechnical studies of interfaces were conducted. Authors have found by analyzing the results of operational tests of restored and new cylinder liners the prospects for using electric spark treatment of worn parts, including diesel engine liners. (Results and discussion) It was shown by laboratory studies of the adhesion strength of electric spark coatings with a 0.2 mm thick BrMKc 3-1 electrode to the working surface of cylinder liners that their separation strength (adhesive) was 20-40 megapascals, and the shear strength (cohesive) was 50-80 megapascals. It was found that this provides the required functional strength of coatings with maximum operational load. The article presents the results of comprehensive research in graphs and tables. (Conclusions) The research conducted in the CCP "Nano-Center" of the FSAC VIM and operational tests in the 2nd bus fleet of Moscow confirmed the principal possibility of effectively restoring cast iron liners (blocks) using the technology of electric spark processing.

An increase in the volume of bulk cargo transportation through international transport corridors necessitates the commissioning of tank containers. Intermodalization of a tank container predetermines its load in various operating conditions depending on the type of vehicle on which it is carried: aviation, sea, air or rail. The analysis of the operating conditions of tank containers, as well as the regulatory documents governing their workload, led to the conclusion that the most dynamic loads acting on the supporting structures during transportation by rail. Namely, during the maneuvering collision of a wagon-platform, on which there are tank containers. In this case, it is stipulated that for a loaded tank container, the dynamic load is assumed to be 4g, and for an empty (for the purpose of checking the reinforcement) – 5g. It is important to note that when the tank container is underfilled with bulk cargo and taking into account movements of fittings relative to fittings, the maximum value of dynamic load can reach significantly larger values. Therefore, in order to ensure the strength of tank containers, an improvement of their structures has been proposed by introducing elastic-viscous bonds into the fittings. To determine the dynamic loading of the tank container, taking into account the improvement measures, mathematical models have been compiled, taking into account the presence of elastic, viscous and elastic-viscous bonds between the fittings, stops and fittings. It is established that the elastic bond does not fully compensate for the dynamic loads acting on the tank container. The results of mathematical modeling of dynamic loading, taking into account the presence of viscous and elastic-viscous coupling in the fittings, made it possible to conclude that the maximum accelerations per tank container do not exceed the normalized values. The determination of the dynamic loading of the tank container is also carried out by computer simulation using the finite element method. The calculation takes place in the software package CosmosWorks. The maximum values of accelerations are obtained, as well as their distribution fields relative to the supporting structure of the tank container. The developed models are verified by the Fisher criterion. The research will contribute to the creation of tank containers with improved technical, operational, as well as environmental characteristics and an increase in the efficiency of the liquid cargo transportation process through international transport corridors.

The building norms and standards of Uzbekistan on the reinforced concrete structures do not regulate the design of hollow-core slabs of formwork-free shaping, reinforced with prestressed wire reinforcement. The manufacturing technology of such slabs allows creating a wide range of products that increase the possibility of their use in various structural systems in residential, civil and industrial buildings, but in non-seismic areas only. The aim of this work is to develop a constructive solution for the cross section of a prestressed hollow-core floor slab of bench formwork-free shaping, reinforced with high-strength wire reinforcement, in order to create a wide range of products intended for construction in seismic areas. To achieve the goal, the problem of determining the optimal combination of height and configuration parameters of the cross section of such a slab is solved, meeting the normalized operational requirements and limitations of earthquake-resistant building standards. The main variable parameters are the height and the void degree of the section, characterized by the size and shape of voids. In calculating the cross-section of a hollow-core slab when substantiating the theoretical basis for the calculation, the cross section is reduced to the equivalent I-section. As a result of research, a constructive solution was developed for the slab cross section of the maximum parameter values (the span, operational load) set by the customer. The parameters of the slab cross-section are: the height 190 mm, the hollowness 38%, the height of the upper thickened flange (compared with the height of the lower flange) of the given section is 0.27h, the height of the lower flange is 0.17h, the reduced (total) thickness of all ribs “b” is 0.32 of the width of the upper flange. The voids in the section along the height of the slab are arranged asymmetrically. A patent for a utility model has been received for the proposed constructive solution of the slab cross section.

The reliability and integrity of components used in the marine offshore environment is paramount for the safety and viability of offshore installations. The engineering challenge is to design components that are robust enough to meet reliability targets whilst lean enough to minimise cost. This is particularly the case for offshore marine renewable installations which operate in the same, possibly harsher, environment as offshore oil and gas installations, and are subjected to highly cyclic and dynamic wave, wind and operational load conditions. The cost of electricity produced has to compete with other means of electricity generation and does thus not offer the same profit margins available as oil and gas commodities. As a result, components for marine renewable installations have to meet the target reliability, without the application of costly safety factors to account for load and environmental uncertainties. Industries with similar design tasks such as the aviation or automotive industry have successfully used a service simulation test approach to develop robust yet lean designs. This paper builds on an approach to establish and validate the reliability of floating renewable energy devices in which dedicated component testing using the purpose built Dynamic Marine Component test rig (DMaC) plays a pivotal role to assess, validate and predict the reliability of components in the marine environment. This paper presents a test rig for both static and fatigue tests of marine components such as mooring lines and mooring shackles under simulated or measured load conditions and provides two case studies from recently conducted mooring component tests. This includes an investigation into the load behaviour of synthetic mooring ropes and the ageing of mooring shackles.

Large, precise space antennas are important for space infrastructures. The Communication Research Laboratory (CRL) has developed an assembly-type antenna for future space communication infrastructures and has been studying the techniques that control space robots used to assemble this type of antenna. The first on-board experiments for assembling the developed antenna have been scheduled to take place on Engineering Test Satellite VII (ETS-VII), which was launched in November 1997. The most important concerns in using space robots are safety and reliability. Teleoperation of space robots is very stressful for operators, who work under significant time constraints. This is especially true since space robots cannot be repaired during operation. We tested two teleoperation technologies control techniques designed to reduce the operational load while allowing flexible and dexterous operation during the upcoming ETS-VII experiments. The first is audio feedback. The second is virtual bilateral control. Both techniques were found to significantly improve efficiency and reduce the risks associated with space assembly.
