In order to provide stable connections among nodes, a routing protocol is necessary in VANET system. Dynamic topology and frequent disconnection makes difficult to design an efficient routing protocol for VANET to route information among nodes. The survey of routing protocols in VANET system helps in understanding the concepts of smart intelligent transport system (ITS). It is observed that carry-and-forward is the key consideration and main function of an efficient routing protocol in VANET system. This paper explains various routing protocols for VANET system.

VANET is vehicular Ad-hoc network which is used for intelligent transport system for the drivers the ad-hoc network is used to transmit various types of message over the network. Safety message has to transmit for the security reasons on the vehicle and road transportation various routing protocols have been utilized for the purpose of message transmission. GPRS, AODV, DSR, PUMA these are various routing protocol utilizes for message transmission vanet scenario is used for mainly V2V and V2R purposes. Due to low bandwidth safety messages have been get congestion and information transmitted get loss. This information loss causes various problems in VANET that cause accidents, miss-communication between sharing information from V2V and V2R. To overcome this issue cognitive radio bandwidth can be utilize for data transmission by channel sensing and message can be transmit through cognitive radio channels.

Mobile Ad Hoc Network(MANET) is an infrastructure less network. Any node may enter or leave network at anytime. MANET also has less resources and limited security. MANET is vulnerable to attacks because of its lack of centralized infrastructure. Security in MANET can be achieved by Anonymous routing which hide source, destinationand route information to provide. This paper provides a review on efficient anonymous routing protocols used in MANET and also compares the security in terms of identity, location and route anonymity. An anonymous routing protocol that conceals the essential details and satisfies the basic protocol properties has to be proposed.

With the expansion of the network, especially in the case of the nodes frequently moving, clustering routing protocol can reduce the impact of the changed topology on routing protocols, and improve the network scalability and reduce routing overhead. Based on the analysis of the problems of CBRP clustering routing protocol, this paper presents a CRBAC clustering routing algorithm based on ant colony algorithm. The simulation results show that, in the circumstance that the algorithm doesnt significantly increase the routing overhead, improved clustering routing protocol CRBAC get better performance than CBRP. They reflect on the clusters structure more reasonable and stable, the average end-to-end delay and network lifetime significantly improved.

A vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is a technology in which moving cars are used as routers (nodes) to establish a reliable mobile communication network among the vehicles. Some of the drawbacks of the routing protocol, Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV), associated with VANETs are the end-to-end delay and packet loss. We modified the AODV routing protocols to reduce the number of route request (RREQ) and route reply (RREP) messages by adding direction parameters and two-step filtering. The two-step filtering process reduces the number of RREQ and RREP packets, reduces the packet overhead, and helps to select the stable route. In this study, we show the impact of the direction parameter in reducing the end-to-end delay and the packet loss in AODV. The simulation results show a 1.4% reduction in packet loss, an 11% reduction in the end-to-end delay, and an increase in throughput.

Based on the traditional DSR Protocol has obvious drawbacks such as short network lifetime in the small reconnaissance UAV ad hoc network, a routing protocols called UEDSR(UAV Energy Dynamic Source Routing Protocol) suitable for small reconnaissance UAV ad hoc network is proposed. This protocol introduces the energy balancing mechanism into the algorithms based on DSR, then improves the situation of excessive energy consumption of hot nodes and prolongs the network lifetime. The simulation of protocol by NS2 illustrates that comparing to DSR the UEDSR protocol achieves about 7% increase in the network lifetime and the packet delivery and the average of network throughput are effectively improved.

A Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is a sort of wireless ad hoc network which are used to provide communications between nodes. The frequent topology change is considered a unique feature of VANET nature due to the high movement of its participating vehicles. Thus, the design of a routing protocol that could cope with VANET characteristics is very challenging. Position-based routing protocols are the most suitable approaches for VANET. In this paper researcher broadly discussed Beacon-based Non-Delay Tolerant Geographical-based routing protocols for VANET. The main concern is to discuss the characteristics disadvantages of those protocols. Finally, several research directions relevant to the focus of this survey are identified that define preferred features of the appropriate routing protocol that can cope with VANET challenges.

Mobile Ad hoc Network is a collection of mobile nodes in which the wireless links are frequently broken down due to mobility and dynamic infrastructure. Routing is a significant issue and challenge in ad hoc networks. In Mobile ad hoc network, due to mobility of nodes network topology change frequently and thus, routing become challenging task to transfer the data from source to destination. A variety of routing protocols with varying network conditions are analyzed to find an optimized route from a source to some destination. This paper is based on performance comparison of two popular mobile ad-hoc network routing protocols using simulator i.e. DSR, ADOV. On the network simulation platform, a systematically simulation and research has been carried out on the performance of two routing protocols, and how the network environments impact on the performance of routing protocol.

Wireless Ad hoc Network is established by a collection of mobile nodes without any fixed infrastructure, where each node plays a role of the router. There are not any centralize control to handle the routing process of network, due to the dynamic tropology and infrastructure less network the network is vulnerable to various kinds of attacks. Therefore, numerous proactive, reactive and hybrid routing protocols have been recommended, among which one of the well-known a protocol is AODV due to its high-performance gain. This research work contributes towards mitigating network layer attacks on routing protocols in Wireless Ad hoc Networks. Problem and it's security issues because its consequences and existing mechanisms for detection and prevention with the context of AODV protocol is a challenge in Wireless Ad hoc Network, particularly in MANET and Sensor network. We present an AODV based secure routing algorithm for detection and prevention of different network layer attacks such as blackhole and rushing attacks. We use different types of security parameters like node sequence numbers, hop count, trust value, path value, acknowledge time, the threshold value and ALERT packet message to design a secure algorithm for AODV routing protocol. It shows enactment evaluation of AODV with the enhanced secure routing algorithm and existing routing algorithm through simulations which will confirm the effectiveness and accuracy of the algorithm by considering performance metrics like throughput, packet delivery ratio and end to end delay. Using network simulator NS-2.35 the experimental results have been shown an improvement in throughput, packet delivery ratio (PDR), and end to end delay using IDSAODV and results are compared with normal AODV routing protocol for blackhole and rushing attacks. The comparative results have been also shown with proposed IDSAODV and existing method

There are a lot of speculations going on about the interests for privacy in mobile network. Many research works have been proposed in the aspect and these works concentrate more on the anonymity part and there are quite a few implementations of these research works on some applications. Ad hoc routing protocols must have provision for both anonymity providing nature and restriction of information collection from unauthorized nodes. Till recent times, there are a number of ad hoc routing protocols that have been introduced. But, they have lack security features or authentication features or in some cases both. The lack of proper security features leads to a state of vulnerability which at any given point, will act as a threat element. In this paper, we propose Security Mandated Analytics based Route Processing with Digital Signature protocol [SMARPDS]. It is an anonymous and authentication providing routing protocol in Mobile Ad hoc network. In addition, routes are discovered based on analytics done on the node and its present location in the network. SMARPDS provides authentication during the route discovery and transmission process by employing digital signatures on node front and also on packets front.
