In this proposed paper, a single band microstrip patch antenna for fifth generation (5G) wireless application was presented. 28, 38, 60 and 73 GHz frequency bands have been allocated for 5G mobile communications by International Telecommunications Union (ITU). In this paper, we proposed an antenna, which is suitable for the millimeter wave frequency. The single band antenna consists of new slot loaded on the radiating patch with the 50 ohms microstrip line feeding used. This single band antenna was simulated on a FR4 dielectric substrate have relative permittivity 4.4, loss tangent 0.02, and height 1.6 mm. The antenna was simulated by Electromagnetic simulation, computer software technology High Frequency Structural Simulator. And simulated result on return loss, VSWR, radiation pattern and 3D gain was presented. The parameters of the results well coherent and proved the literature for millimeter wave 5G wireless application at 38 GHz.

In this paper, several combination algorithms between Partial Update LMS (PU LMS) methods and previously proposed algorithm (New Variable Length LMS (NVLLMS)) have been developed. Then, the new sets of proposed algorithms were applied to an Acoustic Echo Cancellation system (AEC) in order to decrease the filter coefficients, decrease the convergence time, and enhance its performance in terms of Mean Square Error (MSE) and Echo Return Loss Enhancement (ERLE). These proposed algorithms will use the Echo Return Loss Enhancement (ERLE) to control the operation of filter's coefficient length variation. In addition, the time-varying step size is used. The total number of coefficients required was reduced by about 18% , 10% , 6%, and 16% using Periodic, Sequential, Stochastic, and M-max PU NVLLMS algorithms respectively, compared to that used by a full update method which  is very important, especially in the application of mobile communication since the power consumption must be considered. In addition, the average ERLE and average Mean Square Error (MSE) for M-max PU NVLLMS are better than other proposed algorithms.

Aim:: Computation of loss factors for one-bit RF MEMS switch over Ku, K and Ka-band for two different insulating substrates. Objective:: Numerical investigation of return loss, insertion loss, isolation loss are computed under both actuated and unactuated states for two different insulating substrates of the 1-bit RF MEMS switch, and corresponding up and down-capacitances are obtained. Methods:: The unique characteristics of a 1-bit RF MEMS switch of providing higher return loss under both actuated and unactuated states and also of isolation loss with negligible insertion loss makes it as a prime candidate for phase shifter application. This is presented in this manuscript with a keen focus on improvement capability by changing transmission line width, and also of overlap area; where dielectric constant of the substrate also plays a vital role. Results:: The present work exhibits very low down-capacitance over the spectrum whereas considerable amount of up-capacitance. Also when overall performance in terms of all loss parameters are considered, switch provides very low insertion loss, good return loss under actuated state and standard isolation loss. Conclusion:: Reduction of transmission line width of about 33% improved the performance of the switch by increasing isolation loss. Isolation loss of -40 dB is obtained at actuated condition in higher microwave spectra for SiO 2 at higher overlap area. Down capacitance of ~ 1dB is obtained which is novel as compared with other published literature. Moreover, a better combination of both return loss, isolation loss and insertion loss are reported in this present work compared with all other published data so far.

AbstractIn this paper, a balanced-to-balanced (BTB) branch-slotline directional coupler (DC) is firstly presented, which can realize an arbitrary power division ratios (PDRs). The coupler is composed by microstrip-to-slotline (MS) transition structures and branch-slotline coupled structures. The single-ended to balanced-ended conversion is simplified and easy to implemented by the MS transition structures, which intrinsically leads to the differential-mode (DM) transmission and common-mode (CM) suppression. Moreover, the different PDRs which are controlled by the widths of branch-slotlines can be achieved. In order to verify the feasibility of the proposed design method, two prototype circuits of the proposed coupler with different PDRs are fabricated and measured. The return loss and the isolation of two designs are all better than 10 dB. Moreover, the CM suppressions are greater than 35 dB. A good agreement between the simulation and measurement results is observed.

AbstractIn this paper, a tunable balanced-to-balanced in-phase filtering power divider (FPD) is designed, which can realize a two-way equal power division with high selectivity and isolation. A differential-mode (DM) passband with a steep filtering performance is realized by applying microstrip stub-loaded resonators (SLRs). Meanwhile, six varactors are loaded to the SLRs to achieve the center frequency (CF) and bandwidth adjustment, respectively. U-type microstrip lines integrated with stepped impedance slotline resonators are utilized as the differential feedlines, which suppress the common-mode (CM) intrinsically, making the DM responses independent of the CM ones. A tuning center frequency from 3.2 to 3.75 GHz and a fractional bandwidth (12.1–17.6%) with more than 10 dB return loss and less than 2.3 dB insertion loss can be achieved by changing the voltage across the varactors. A good agreement between the simulated and measured results is observed. To the best of authors' knowledge, the proposed balanced-to-balanced tunable FPD is first ever reported.

In this paper, an inverted F type antenna (IFA) for ZigBee communication of a sensor board has been designed and optimized, and it replaces the chip antenna on an RF (Radio Frequency) module that is not performing well enough for the ZigBee communication. The sensor board detects cattle behavior and identifies the breeding (estrus) period and transmits the data to the main station by the RF (Radio Frequency) module and IFA antenna. The proposed and optimized TRx (transmitting/receiving) IFA antenna of the ZigBee communication module has a return loss of −19 dB and a gain of 1.6 dB at 2.45 GHz. The size is about 2.5 × 0.5 cm in width and vertical length, and the height is 0.55 cm. The strength of signals with the chip antenna and the IFA antenna have been measured and compared. There is about a 20 dB enhancement with the IFA antenna compared to the chip antenna. The antenna is designed and applied to the RF transmission and reception (TRx) module. This antenna and sensor module can be applied to livestock in general as well as cattle.
