This study assessed the errors in English comprehension by Senior Secondary School Students. Errors in Englishpunctuation in this study were categorized as mechanical errors in comprehension with particular emphasis onpunctuation marks and spelling. This study adopted a descriptive research design of ex-post-facto type. The targetgroups for the study were Ogun State Secondary Schools in Nigeria. The samples were drawn from four (4)geo-political zones in Ogun State of Nigeria (Ijebu, Remo, Yewa and Egba). Multi-stage stratified samplingtechnique was used to select five co-educational Secondary Schools from the four geo-political zones. Five schoolswere selected with fifty (50) Secondary Students III (SSS 3) per school totaling two hundred and fifty (250) male andfemale students in each of the divisions. Two instruments, Errors in English Language Comprehension (EELC), andan achievement test in English Language Punctuation (ATELP) were used to collect data from the one thousand(1000) students who were randomly sampled as participants. The validity and reliability of the instrument weredetermined by trial testing. The data were subjected to Chi-square, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and PearsonProduct Moment Correlation coefficient. The data were tested for significance at the 0.05 level. Based on thefindings, it was detected that students made more errors in punctuation than in spellings. This could be attributed tolack of knowledge and understanding of common mistakes made in English. Part of the recommendations made wasthat; teachers should concentrate on areas of difficulties such as comma, colon and semi-colon for students.

The purpose of this study was to determine the validity of KCPE as a predictor of KCSE scores among public secondary school students in Kisii central Sub-county, Kenya. This study was guided by a conceptual framework where KCPE was the independent variable and KCSE the dependent variable. It adopted Correlational and Ex-post-facto research designs. The study population was 3,897 KCSE candidates from 55 public secondary schools. Stratified random sampling based on school type and size was used to select 16 public secondary schools for the study. Saturated sampling was employed to include all KCSE candidates whose KCPE marks were available in each sampled school, yielding a sample of 1,391 students.  Data used included 2006 KCPE scores and 2010 KCSE scores of the same students under study. Data was collected using a researcher made pro forma. It was analyzed quantitatively using correlations and regression analyses. Results showed a strong positive Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r=0.693; n=1391; p < 0.05) between KCPE and KCSE scores. It recommended that; KCPE should continue to be used as selection tool for secondary school admission and school evaluation using KCSE examination scores should be based on students’ past KCPE scores.

This study was conducted to investigate the influence of guidance and counseling programme on academic performance of secondary school students in Maiduguri metropolitan council. An ex post facto and survey research design was adopted in this study. Data was collected through administration of questionnaires to the selected respondents. The collected data was then processed and analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency and percentage. The study established the following findings: Secondary schools in the study area differed in the number of guidance and counseling services that they had implemented. Teacher counselors had little training in guidance and counseling. Stakeholders adequately supported guidance and counseling programme in the schools. Students were aware of the role and importance of career counseling in their schools (89.39%). Guidance and counseling programme has a positive impact on the academic performance of students. Based on these study findings, the following recommendations were made: There is need for the teacher counselors to implement all the services required for guidance and counseling and improve the level of training of teacher counselors in guidance and counseling. Guidance and counseling programme should be strengthened in order to improve the academic performance of secondary schools in the area.

This study aims to identify the level of educational values that are practiced by the secondary school students' in Bani Obaid Brigade in Irbid city based on their point of view. This study seeks to identify the differences in the responses of the sample members on their practices of educational values ​​according to two variables which are gender and streams. The study covered the total number of all students in the 11th grade of secondary school in Bani Obaid Brigade which is (1884) in the second semester of the academic year 2018/2019. Then, A random sample was chosen from the study population which consist of (754) equal to (4%) percent. After the researcher completed the investigation, the number of respondents who answered the questionnaire was (700). In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher prepared a questionnaire which was finalized after the procedures of validity and reliability for (36) paragraphs. The paragraphs were divided into four scopes: worship scope, moral scope, the national scope, and the aesthetic scope. The results of the study are summarized in the following points: 1- Practicing of the secondary school students in the Bani Obaid Brigade for educational values ​represents the highest average which is (3.89) 2- There are statistically significant differences for the educational value ​​ attributed to the gender variable. The responses of the sample members showed the differences for the male students at level (α = 0.05) 3- There are not statistically significant differences at level (α = 0.05) in the responses of the sample members on the fields of educational values ​​due to the streams variable. 4- Based on the results of this study, the researcher recommends the teachers at the secondary schools at Bani Obaid Brigade in Irbid city to help the students to be more conscious about the necessity of the educational values which play a major role in their personal and social life. Similarly, the national value is one of most important values that the schools have to take care about it by encouraging the student to participate in the national events and festivals. Moreover, the researcher recommends the teachers to encourage the students to buy the national products in order to support the national economic. 5- The researcher suggests holding training courses for the teachers at Bani Obaid Brigade in Irbid city to improve their ability for learning students about the national values. Additionally, he recommends them to conduct researches that help to follow up the students’ behaviors for the educational values in the secondary schools.

The study investigated the effectiveness of multimedia learning packages in improving the attitudes of students toward learning Biology in secondary schools. The study employed a quantitative and qualitative research approach. The population for the study consisted of all students offering Biology as a subject in the senior secondary schools in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Nigeria, from where a sample of 80 students was randomly selected from three secondary schools and assigned to three groups (one control and two experimental groups). Two multimedia instructional learning packages (MILP) were designed for the study. The topic treated was Cell Division, and the study lasted for six weeks. The packages and all instruments used were validated for content and construct validity, and reliability test was also done. The results showed that multimedia instructional packages used in teaching and learning Biology in secondary schools enhanced better students’ engagements and positive attitudes toward learning. It was concluded that students developed positive attitudes toward learning Biology after using the packages and that multimedia instructional packages are an interesting and creative method of teaching, learning, and enhancing positive attitudes towards learning among secondary school students.

This study examined the errors of pronoun usage among Nigerian Secondary School Students. The study looked specifically at pronoun types, and identified and examined the errors that secondary school students make in their use. The research subjects were students of public secondary schools in Oyo West Local Government Area. There are fifteen (15) public secondary schools in the Local Government Area. However, out of the fifteen (15) public secondary schools, five (5) were chosen. The researcher made use of stratified sampling technique in order to classify the respondents’ view into different characteristics for clear and better results. A total of one hundred (100) students were selected for the study, with twenty (20) students selected from each school. Test questions with options were designed specifically for the students in the selected schools. The test questions focused on all the aspects of pronoun usage, especially the areas where students make errors such as subjective case pronouns, objective case pronouns, possessive case pronouns and tactic pronouns. The test was adequately supervised to see that the respondents did not consult their mates for any assistance before they could respond to the test. It was administered in the classroom for their convenience and proper supervision. There were twenty (20) questions in the test, four questions each were on the subjective case, objective case, possessive case, problematic pronouns usages and unique pronouns types (indefinite pronoun and reciprocal pronouns). At the end, the test scripts were collected and marked. The errors made were identified and categorised and examined. The study clearly showed that secondary school students in Nigeria use pronouns that are inaccurate or incorrect in their expressions. In this vein, the study showed that these errors occur because the students have not fully learned the correct use of the pronouns. The study also found that the teaching method applied in the teaching of English grammar in secondary schools is not very effective and English language teachers need to set up a workable teaching and evaluation method that will show how well a learner has learned. The study concluded that the students need constant exposure to the English language to fully develop communicative competence in it.

This study investigated the influence of fishing related activities on academic performance of secondary school students in Rachuonyo North Sub-County. The specific objectives were to examine the activities associated with fishing and determine how they influenced academic performance of secondary students in the Sub-County. The study targeted students and principals of the 49 secondary schools in Rachuonyo North Sub-county. The research used simple random sampling to select 14 public secondary schools and 20 Form Three students from each of the sampled schools. The total sample size was 292 respondents. Primary data was collected and analysed using quantitative and qualitative methods and then presented in tables in percentages. Data analysis was done using SPSS and the Microsoft Excel software. The study established that students participated in fishing activities while attending school. Major fishing activities that students engaged in included: actual fishing an agreement  index of 82.9% of students; repairing of fishing nets which was supported by 74.2% of students; setting of nets in the lake which was supported by 84.4% of students; and removal of fish from the nets which was agreed to by 83.9% of students. Some (91.7%) of the students believed that their counterparts who engaged in fishing activities tended to perform poorly in their classwork.  The study has recommended that parents, School Boards of Management and the communities along the beaches collaborate with each other in order to keep students from engaging in fishing activities for this likely to improve school attendance and academic performance of students. The Government should enforce compulsory basic education as well as provide it free to all children at this level of education.

This study was conducted on 1170 students at 10 secondary schools in 5 provinces in Vietnam. Survey results determined student's clarity on others at medium level. The Clarity to others of surveyed students was correlated with factors such as: communication style, communication trends and temperament of students in communicating and learning from others. The results of multiple linear regresion model of factors have been determined the prediction of the effects of the above factors. The predictive discovered models in the study have been useful suggestions for parents, teachers and students, helping them to improve Clarity in social intelligence of secondary school students.

The purpose of this study was to investigate resilience and gender as determinants of entrepreneurial intentions among secondary school students in Kwara State, Nigeria. Descriptive research design of ex-post-facto type was used in the study. Five hundred respondents were selected randomly from 5 Local Government Area in Kwara State, Nigeria. The respondents were measured with validated scale and the data obtained was analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) statistical analysis. Two research hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05level of significance. The result showed that there was significant relationship between the resilience and entrepreneurial intentions among secondary school students (r = 0.817; p < 0.05) and there no significant difference in the entrepreneurial intentions of male and female secondary school students (t = 0.71; p > 0.05). In view of these findings, the study recommended that the entrepreneurship training should be made compulsory at all levels of learning from primary schools to the tertiary institutions and curriculum should be tailored towards learning the skills for starting businesses after graduation from school, thus changing the orientation of the students at an early stage towards entrepreneurship.
