This thesis discusses about the improving students’ vocabulary mastery by using pictures media to the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 21 Medan. This study applies pictures, one of media which can be used by the teacher to build students’ mastery of vocabularies. To master the language, vocabulary is important element in learning process. This statement is supported by Thornbury. He said that without vocabulary nothing can be conveyed. This study is a field study in two cycles; each cycle consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. In collecting data, I used qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data are observation sheet, and questionaire and field notes. The qualitative data were collected through observing the teaching learning process, holding the discussion with the teacher, and taking photographs of the teaching learning process. The quantitative data are pre-test and post-test to measure the students’ vocabulary mastery by using pictures media. The instruments for collecting data were observations checklist, field notes, and photographs. This study concludes that the students’ vocabulary mastery is improved by using pictures media. It can be seen from the means score of pre test is 65, and post test is 78. In additional, the implementation pictures media are successful to help the students memorize and understand new words easily.

<p>This research is done at SMK Negeri 1 Aramo. The subject of this research is the tenth grade which consists of 16 students, 8 girls and 8 boys. While the objects of this research are the implementation of Debate Technique, and the students’ ability in speaking. It is conducted by using Classroom Action Research (<em>CAR</em>) that consists of four stages in each cycle. They are planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data will be analyzed in qualitative data and quantitative data.</p><p>The result of the data analysis in the first cycle is not satisfied. That’s why, the researcher continues to the second cycle. In the second cycle, the students get improvement in speaking. One student (6%) in the less level, 4 students (25%) in adequate level, 11 students (69%) in good level. The average of the students’ score is 65. Then, the result of field notes in the first meeting, the percentage of the students who are active is 75%, creative is 69%, and cooperative is 63%. While, in the second meeting, the percentage of the students who are active is 94%, creative is 94%, and cooperative is 100%. The average of the students’ score in the second cycle gets improvement and reaches the Minimum Competence Criterion (<em>MCC</em>) target fixed at the tenth grade of SMK Negeri 1 Aramo. Then, the researcher does not continue the research to the next cycle.</p>From the result of this research, the researcher concludes that Debate Technique is an active and creative learning process in teaching speaking, working in a group and also sharing knowledge and ideas to others.

The aim of this research was to improve the speaking learning process of eight grade students ofSMP Islam Terpadu (IT) QurrotaA’yunPaluin the academic year of 2019/2020 through animation movie. This study was an class action research study. It was conducted in two cycles, from the 4th of March to the 12th of March 2020. Each cycle consisted of two meetings. The steps of the research were planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were 30 students of VIII D class, the English teacher, and the researcher. The data were in the form of qualitative data and also supported by quantitative data. The qualitative data were obtained by observing the teaching and learning process, interviewing the students and collaborators, holding discussions with the collaborators, and taking pictures of the teaching and learning process. Meanwhile, the quantitative data were obtained through post-test, the field notes and interview transcripts were analyzed qualitatively through four steps namely data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusions. The results of this research showed that the implementation of animation movie in the speaking learning process was effective to make the students become enthusiastic in the Englishspeaking activities. The use of animation movie that was combined with speaking performances and group works made significant progress in the speaking learning process. The students were interested towards the materials, could understand the materials easily, and spoke more confidently. In reference to the number, the students who was completely the score of speaking skill was improved from 70% to 80% and the number of the students who has a high confidence in speaking was improved from 78% to 82,66%. The students’ interest level toward speaking was improved through the use of animation movies because they could learn speaking English through fun activities with their friends. Therefore, they were not bored in the teaching-learning process.

Abstract This study is revealed based on  the observation on the tenth grade of X HT 1 Sangkuriang 2 Vocational High School.  The subjects of this study were consisted of 31 students. This study was aimed to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery using Cooperative Script Method. The research design was Classroom Action Research (CAR) which following from Kemmis and Taggart model. It is used to obtain the results of quantitative and qualitative data using 2 cycles described through planning, action, observation, and reflection on each cycle. The result of the study showed that there was a development on the student’s vocabulary mastery. It could be seen from the result of the test. The Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) of English lesson was 70.  The students mean score in the pre test was 50,  in the first post test the mean score was 65, and in the second post test the mean score was 85. In addition there were 2 students (6,4%) who passed KKM on pre test. In the first pretest there were 9 students (29,03%) who passed KKM. In the second pretest there were 29 students (93,55%) who passed KKM. Then, from the result of field notes and interview it showed the positive responses from the students. The students can be more active and improve their ideas. The researcher conclude that Cooperative Script method could improve student’s vocabulary mastery. Keywords:  Vocabulary, Cooperative Script, Descriptive Text, CAR

This research aims to find out what improvement dyadic essay technique results in solving the problem of paragraph coherence of students’ imaginative writing. To describe how dyadic essay motivates students in doing teaching learning activity of imaginative writing in classroom. The approach used in this research is a classroom action research. The action research was conducted in two cycles, there were 4 meetings in each cycle. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation, questionnaires, interviews, and field notes as the qualitative data, and test for the quantitative data. The researcher also analyzed the mean score of each test to find out the improvements of students’ paragraph coherence in imaginative writing after the action was conducted. The mean scores of the test result are 67.42 for the pre-test, 78.09 for the post-test in cycle 1, and 86,18 for the post-test in cycle 2. The students were motivated in doing teaching-learning of imaginative writing in classroom. It was proven that the students felt enthusiastic in reading text and watching video and the students’ activeness during the teaching learning process.

This research is conducted in order to improve the eight grade students’ competence in using question tag through Discussion Method at SMP Deli Murni Medan. It also helps the English teacher of the eight grade students of SMP Deli Murni Medan to manage learning and teaching activities in the classroom. In conducting this research, the writer used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the method of research. Thisresearch consists of two cycles and each cycle consists of four steps, they were planning, action, observation and reflecting. The data were in the form of qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data analyzed the learning process. The quantitative data counted the students’ score in pre-test and post-test. The result of this research shows that in teaching question tags through Discssion Method at the eight grade students of SMP Deli Murni Medan could improve their competence in using question tags. Moreever, the students’ achievements in pre-test and post-test showed a significant improvement. The total score of quantitative data in pre-test was 1998 with the mean score 54, while the total score in formative test was 2630 with the mean score 71,08  and the total score of post-test was 3004 with the mean score 81,18. From the result, the writer concluded that Discussion Method could improve students’ competence in using question tags.

The objectives of this study are to capture the implementation of Think Pair Share (TPS) in teaching-learning process, to identify the improvement of the students' writing skills, and to find out the strengths and the weaknesses of Think Pair Share (TPS) in the teaching-learning process of the seventh-grade students of MTS AL Islahuddin Kediri. This research is a classroom action research. The researcher used qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data was interview and observation. The quantitative data was tested. The step to analyze the qualitative data used data reducing, data display, and conclusion drawing. The step to analyze the quantitative data used mean formula. The result of the research shows that there are positive improvements in either student" writing skills or the class situation during the teaching-learning process.  It can be seen from the result of the test which is improved,  from the students" writing score and the post-test conducted after the action. The mean scores of students" writing scores are increased. Besides, the situation of the class is more conducive before implementing it. From the class situations improvement, it can be drawn some strengths and the weaknesses of the Think Pair Share (TPS) implementation in writing class. The strengths include that the Think Pair Share (TPS) can build critical thinking, motivation, classroom interaction, easy to discuss, -self-confidence, and active learners. The weaknesses are required special attention in classroom use, and it needs a mediator.

This study concerns on improving students’ achievement in writing procedure texts through word webbing technique. The research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (CAR). The population was the 2012-2013 nine grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Batang Kuis. The number of students was 36, consisting of 21 females and 15 males. The procedure of the research was administrated into two cycles where each cycle consisted of three meetings. Each meeting included four steps namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. There were two kinds of data collected during the study, qualitative and quantitative data. The instrument for collecting the quantitative data was the writing of procedure texts test while the qualitative data were gathered by using interview, diary notes and observation sheet. Based on the data analysis, the mean of students’ score in Test I was 53,47, for the Test II was 63,05, and for the Test III was 75 The qualitative data showed that the students were interested in the applying of Word webbing Technique. The conclusion is that Word Webbing Technique in writing Procedure Texts improves the students’ achievement in writing procedure texts. This study attempted to improve the students’ reading comprehension achievement in descriptive text through Team Games Tournament (TGT) method. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class IX SMP PAB 10 Medan Estate which consisted of 25 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and the first cycle consisted of four meetings the second cycle consisted of two meetings. The instruments for collecting the data were quantitative data (reading evaluation) and qualitative data (diary note, observation sheet and interview sheet). Based on reading scores, students’ score kept improving in every evaluation. In the test I the mean was 65,33, in the test II the mean was 71,72 and the test III the mean was 84,54.Based on diary note, observation sheet and interview sheet, it was found that teaching-learning process ran well. Students were active, enthusiastic, and interested in reading. The result of the research showed that Team Games Tournament (TGT) method significantly improved students’ achievement in reading comprehension especially in reading descriptive text.

This study was attempted to improve students’ achievement in writing narrativetext by watching movies. This study was conducted by using classroom action researchin two cycles. Cycle I consisted of four meetings while Cycle II consisted of twomeetings. The subject of the research was class VIII-A SMP SWASTA IMMANUELMEDAN. The number of the students was 34. To collect the data, the instruments werequantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data was the scores of the studentsand the qualitative data was interview sheets, observation sheets, and diary notes. Basedon the writing score, students’ score were improving in every test. It can be seen inOrientation test, Test I in Cycle I, and Test II in Cycle II. In Orientation test, the meanscore was 37.94 then it was improved to 65.85 in Test I. In the end of cycle II, the meanscore for test II was again improved to 83.41. Based on interview sheets, observationsheets and diary notes, it was found that teaching-learning process ran well. In line withthe data, it showed that the application of watching movies significantly improvedstudent’s achievement in writing narrative text. English teachers were suggested to givemovies to be watched as guidance on students’ narrative writing in the class.

This study deals with the way to improve students’ achievement in speaking particularly through Two Stay Two Stray Strategy. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of of the research was class X-AP SMK Swasta Harapan Danau Sijabut in Asahan Regency that consisted of 34 students. The research was conducted in two cycles consisted of three meetings in each cycle. The instruments of collecting data for quantitative data used Speaking Test and instrument for analysis of qualitative data used observation, interview and questionnaire sheet. Based on the speaking test score, students’ score kept improving in every test. In the test I the mean was 61,47, in the test II the mean was 67,41 and the test III the mean was 78,52. Based on observation sheet and questionnaire sheet, it was found that teaching learning process run well and lively. Students were active and interest in speaking. The using of Two Stay Two Stray Strategy is significantly improved students’ achievement in speaking.
