IMPROVING STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN WRITING PROCEDURE TEXTS THROUGH WORD WEBBING TECHNIQUE

This study concerns on improving students’ achievement in writing procedure texts through word webbing technique. The research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (CAR). The population was the 2012-2013 nine grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Batang Kuis. The number of students was 36, consisting of 21 females and 15 males. The procedure of the research was administrated into two cycles where each cycle consisted of three meetings. Each meeting included four steps namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. There were two kinds of data collected during the study, qualitative and quantitative data. The instrument for collecting the quantitative data was the writing of procedure texts test while the qualitative data were gathered by using interview, diary notes and observation sheet. Based on the data analysis, the mean of students’ score in Test I was 53,47, for the Test II was 63,05, and for the Test III was 75 The qualitative data showed that the students were interested in the applying of Word webbing Technique. The conclusion is that Word Webbing Technique in writing Procedure Texts improves the students’ achievement in writing procedure texts. The study aims at improving students’ achievement in reading comprehension applying Metacognition Method by conducting classroom action research. The population of this research twelfth grade students of SMP Negeri 41 Medan. The number of the students was 33 students. There were two kinds of data collected during the study, qualitative and quantitative data. The instrument for collecting the quantitative data was objective test of reading comprehension, while the instruments for qualitative data were gathered through interview, diary notes, and observation sheet. The qualitative showed that the students were interested in Metacognition Method. Based on the data analysis, the mean of the students score for orientation test was 52, 12 and for test in cycle I was 63, 63 and for test in cycle II was 76, 51. The conclusion is that Metacognition Method can improve the students’ achievement in reading comprehension. Keywords : Reading, Comprehension, Metacognition Method

This study was conducted to discover students’ achievement in narrative text through snowball throwing model. The design of this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of this study was the students of Grade VIII, 2013/2014 school year of SMP Swasta Taman Harapan Medan. The number of students was 39 students. The research was conducted in to two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meeting which consisted of four stages, namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. To collect the data the instruments that used were qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were collected by using diary notes, observation sheet, and questionnaire sheet. The quantitative data were collected by giving speaking test. Based on the data, the students’ score in speaking test got improvement in every cycle. In Test I, the mean of the students’ score was 64.44 while in Test II, the mean of the students’ score was 68.92 and in Test III, the mean of students’ score was 74.15. Based on the result of quantitative data, it was found that there was improvement on students’ speaking achievement in narrative text. This research is conducted in order to improve the eight grade students’ competence in using question tag through Discussion Method at SMP Deli Murni Medan. It also helps the English teacher of the eight grade students of SMP Deli Murni Medan to manage learning and teaching activities in the classroom. In conducting this research, the writer used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the method of research. Thisresearch consists of two cycles and each cycle consists of four steps, they were planning, action, observation and reflecting. The data were in the form of qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data analyzed the learning process. The quantitative data counted the students’ score in pre-test and post-test. The result of this research shows that in teaching question tags through Discssion Method at the eight grade students of SMP Deli Murni Medan could improve their competence in using question tags. Moreever, the students’ achievements in pre-test and post-test showed a significant improvement. The total score of quantitative data in pre-test was 1998 with the mean score 54, while the total score in formative test was 2630 with the mean score 71,08  and the total score of post-test was 3004 with the mean score 81,18. From the result, the writer concluded that Discussion Method could improve students’ competence in using question tags.

This study addresses how writing games improve acceleration students� writing narrative achievement, also observe how students� behavior during playing the games and also the teacher on conducting the games along the research. This study has been conducted in acceleration students. It uses classroom action research, the data analyzed from qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data are about teacher�s interview and students� questionnaire, while the quantitative data is about their scores on writing narrative. To solve the problem, the teacher has implemented Writing Games as a technique. Writing Games contain of games which tend to writing ability and in this case, the teacher chose two kinds of writing games; they are �Silly Story� and �What�s Next?�. �Silly Story� focuses on students� ability on writing sentences and �What�s Next?� focuses on students� ability on making paragraph. This research consists of two cycles and each of it has planning, action, observation and reflection. These findings implicate that acceleration students were interested with writing games and involved in it well. However, during the research, especially in the first cycle, there was still one group was less active in �Silly Story� because they could not discuss each other and the group was quiet big.�

This study deals with the improvement of the students’ achievement in writing explanation text through Numbered Heads Together (NHT) Method. This study try to find out to what extent using NHT could improve students in writing explanation text. Subject of the study this research, first grade students of SMA NEGERI 1 PEGAGAN HILIR, TIGABARU. There were two kinds of data collected during the study, qualitative and quantitative data. The instrument for collecting the quantitative data was writing test while the qualitative data were diary notes, observation sheet, and questionnaire sheet. The qualitative data showed that the students were interested in the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) Method. Based on the data analysis, the mean of the students score for the first test 52.26, for the second test 69.68, for the third test 79.24 and the last test 82.12. The conclusion is that the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) method can improve the students in writing Explanation text.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the basic math skill students 5-6 years old can be improved through music and movement. This research was conducted at TKIT Ibnu Sina Duren Sawit, East Jakarta Timur, with as many as 27 students study subjects. The study was conducted in two cycles and accompanied by 2 teachers who act as observers, method action research. Data collected through observation and interviews as well as qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Qualitative data were analyzed by comparing the students’ grades in cycle 1 and cycle 2 while the qualitative data was analized by data reduction, display data, and conclusion. The results showed an increase in students’ basic math skill through music and movement. In cycle 2 the development of the mathematical aspects of general intelligence has increased 23% from the initial conditions before the study, in wich each indicator increased by 52% compared to the time of observation. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that the students’ basic math skill can be improved through music and movement. It is thus suggested to kindergarten teachers to use music and movement in order to improve the learning basic math skill of students. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui apakah kemampuan dasar matematika siswa usia 5-6 tahun dapat ditingkatkan melalui kegiatan music and movement . Penelitian ini dilakukan di TKIT Ibnu Sina Duren Sawit, Jakarta Timur, dengan sebanyak 27 siswa subjek penelitian. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua siklus dan didampingi oleh 2 orang guru yang bertindak sebagai pengamat, metode penelitian tindakan. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara serta analisis data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Data kuantitatif dianalisis dengan membandingkan nilai siswa dalam siklus 1 dan siklus 2 sedangkan data kualitatif dianalisis dengan reduksi data, data tampilan, dan kesimpulan. Hasilanya menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan matematika dasar siswa melalui kegiatan music and movement . Pada siklus 2 perkembangan aspek matematika dasar telah meningkat 23% dari kondisi awal sebelum penelitian, yang mana setiap indikator meningkat sebesar 52% dibandingkan dengan waktu pengamatan. Berdasarkan analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan matematika dasar siswa dapat ditingkatkan melalui kegiatan music and movement. dengan demikian disarankan kepada guru TK untuk menggunakan music and movement dalam rangka meningkatkan kemampuan matematika dasar siswa.

<p class="05IsiAbstrak">The purpose of the research was to find out the improvement of student’s reading comprehension on narrative text through directed reading and think pair share at madrasa Aliyah of Manahijul Huda Ngagel in academic years 2019/2020. This research was done by applying Classroom Action Research which carried out through four steps. They were planning, action, observation, and reflection, in cycle 1 and cycle 2. The subject of research was the grade X-MIA, they are consisted of 30 students. Based on the result of the data analysis showed that mean of the score has increased in the cycle 2, the mean in the pre-test was 63,33%, the mean of cycle 1 was 74,33%. Then the mean of cycle 2 was 84,17%. The students who got up 75 also grew up. In the pre-test, students who got up 75 were only 5 of 30 students (16,67%). In the post test of cycle 1, students who got up 75 were only 17 of 30 students (56,67%). It means that there was improvement about 40%. In the post test of cycle 2, students who got up 75 were 24 of 30 students (80%). The improvement was about 23,33%. The total improvement of the student’s score from the pre-test to post test of cycle 2 was 63,33%. So, the result of the research showed that Directed-reading and Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy significantly improved student’s reading comprehension on narrative text.</p>

<em>The aims of this study is to improve teacher potential through Bimtek to compile the 2013 Curriculum Syllabus in Cluster 1 of Kintamani District, and Bangli Regency. This study was Regional School Action Research (PTSW) using two cycle designs and each cycle consists of four stages, namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. In collecting the data, this study used measurement techniques, in the form of tests to obtain quantitative data. The observation sheet is used to obtain qualitative data. The data was analyzed by using descriptive analysis. There are 11 Hinduism Teachers, in Cluster 1 with less moderate and capable criteria. The teachers are ability to compile the syllabus as a classroom learning plan. The results showed that the quality of Hindu teachers in Cluster I gets enough title and the teacher who gets a good predicate is 45% so that the increase is 17% from enough to good. Furthermore, while the first cycle received a very good predicate as much as 18% in cycle 2 to 55% so that it experienced a 37% increase in the number of syllabus compilation from cycle I to cycle II. However, based on the result of this study was effective to achieve the target.</em>

This study focuses on improving students’ achievement in writing News Item text through Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Technique. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of this research was the grade X students of SMA Mitra Inalum. Twenty four students were taken as the sample. The research was conducted in two cycles. First cycle was conducted in four meetings. The second cycle was conducted in two meetings. The instruments for collecting data were quantitative data (writing test) and qualitative data (observation sheet, diary note, and questionnaire sheet). Based on the data analysis, students’ score kept improving in every test. The mean of the students’ score in the first competence test was 38.4, in the second competence test was 75.4 and in the third competence test was 81.9. The result showed that Cooperative Integrated and Reading Composition (CIRC) technique improved students’ achievement in writing news item text.

This research concerned on Improving the Students’ Achievement in Writing Descriptive Texts through Prepare, Organize, Write, Edit, Rewrite (POWER) Strategy. In this research, the writer conducted classroom action research. Subject of this research were the second year students of SMK Negeri 1 Tanjung Pura Class XI AK consisted of 35 students. This research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle was organized in four steps, namely Planning, Acting, Observing, and Reflecting. Cycle II was the improvement of Cycle I. There are two kinds of data collected during the research, qualitative and quantitative data. The instruments for the quantitative data was writing test while the qualitative data was gathered through Observation Sheet, Interview Sheet and Diary Notes. Findings showed that students’ score improved from Orientation Test to Test II. Based on the data analysis, Students’ mean in Orientation Test was 38.37, in Test I was 66.49, and Test II was 83.11. The conclusion is that the Prepare, Organize, Write, Edit, Rewrite (POWER) Strategy can improve the students’ achievement in writing descriptive text.
