The aim of this research was to improve the speaking learning process of eight grade students ofSMP Islam Terpadu (IT) QurrotaA’yunPaluin the academic year of 2019/2020 through animation movie. This study was an class action research study. It was conducted in two cycles, from the 4th of March to the 12th of March 2020. Each cycle consisted of two meetings. The steps of the research were planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were 30 students of VIII D class, the English teacher, and the researcher. The data were in the form of qualitative data and also supported by quantitative data. The qualitative data were obtained by observing the teaching and learning process, interviewing the students and collaborators, holding discussions with the collaborators, and taking pictures of the teaching and learning process. Meanwhile, the quantitative data were obtained through post-test, the field notes and interview transcripts were analyzed qualitatively through four steps namely data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusions. The results of this research showed that the implementation of animation movie in the speaking learning process was effective to make the students become enthusiastic in the Englishspeaking activities. The use of animation movie that was combined with speaking performances and group works made significant progress in the speaking learning process. The students were interested towards the materials, could understand the materials easily, and spoke more confidently. In reference to the number, the students who was completely the score of speaking skill was improved from 70% to 80% and the number of the students who has a high confidence in speaking was improved from 78% to 82,66%. The students’ interest level toward speaking was improved through the use of animation movies because they could learn speaking English through fun activities with their friends. Therefore, they were not bored in the teaching-learning process.

This thesis discusses about the improving students’ vocabulary mastery by using pictures media to the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 21 Medan. This study applies pictures, one of media which can be used by the teacher to build students’ mastery of vocabularies. To master the language, vocabulary is important element in learning process. This statement is supported by Thornbury. He said that without vocabulary nothing can be conveyed. This study is a field study in two cycles; each cycle consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. In collecting data, I used qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data are observation sheet, and questionaire and field notes. The qualitative data were collected through observing the teaching learning process, holding the discussion with the teacher, and taking photographs of the teaching learning process. The quantitative data are pre-test and post-test to measure the students’ vocabulary mastery by using pictures media. The instruments for collecting data were observations checklist, field notes, and photographs. This study concludes that the students’ vocabulary mastery is improved by using pictures media. It can be seen from the means score of pre test is 65, and post test is 78. In additional, the implementation pictures media are successful to help the students memorize and understand new words easily.

Language teachers play an important roles on teaching and   learning   process,   choosing   the   methods,   and designing the goal of the study. All their targets are based on how well they collaborate the methods and designs through the experiences and knowledge they have during the  process   of  teaching  and   learning.   Audio-lingual method was chosen to know the effectiveness, advantages, disadvantages, strenghts, and weaknesses   in improving the speaking skill of the fifth grade students of elementary school. The qualitative and quantitative data were used in this research. Qualitative data were taken from the scores of the pre-test and all cycles. The quantitative data were taken through the observation, interview, and questionnaire. Based on the discussions and conclusions, audio-lingual method is recommended to improve the speaking skill of elementary students.Key words: audio-lingual method, speaking skill, teaching learning process

The aims of the study are to know whether communicative games have an impact on teaching speaking skill and describe how communicative games give an influence on speaking skills of students at junior high schools in Jakarta, Indonesia. Classroom Action Research (CAR) was implemented based on Kurt. L model. The procedures used were planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. It was done into two cycles in each cycle consisted of three meetings. The researcher used collaborative action research with some of the English teachers. In collecting the data, the instruments were interview, observation, questionnaire and test. The test only given to students. The rest of the instruments administered for both teachers and students. The result of the study showed the mean score’s pretest reached of 60.42 to 69.02 and post test’s score reached up to 78.77. It is important to describe that there is a significant improvement of 13.9% to 41.7% in post test 1 and 83.33% in post test 2. Therefore, the criteria of success had been determined. It is crucial to note that communicative games have contributed a positive impact on teaching learning process. This also implies the communicative games expected to enhance students’ enthusiasm and motivation. Clearly, It gives positive improvement on students’ active participation, confidence and their fluency in speaking skill. In short it can be described that the strategy of teaching and learning creates good, enjoyable circumstances and reduces the boredom and stress of learning process.

Abstract In this study, the researcher used method Classroom Action Research (CAR) to improve the quality of the learning and teaching processes as well as to detect and solving the problems that found in the teaching and learning process. The subjects of this research were the 34 students in SMK Budi Bhakti Utama Padalarang. The researcher used collaborative action research with some English teachers in the school. In this study, the researcher using the instruments interview and questionnaire test to collecting the data. The test that given to students is pre test and also post test in the and of the class or after the students has a treatment. In this result of the study showed the mean score of pretest is 62.02 to 64.00 and post test’s score reached up to 79.00. It is important to describe that there is a significant improvement of the test. Therefore, the criteria of success had been determined. It is crucial to remember that communicative games have contributed and positive impact on teaching and learning process. The communicative games like snowball throwing game expected to enhance students’ motivation and enthusiasm in learning English. Clearly, It gives positive improvement on students’ confidence and their fluency in speaking skill. Speaking Ability was the important aspect in communication. The aim of the study was to investigate the improving speaking ability through storytelling in teaching speaking at eight grade of SMAN 1 Lambitu. This research used classroom action research. The subjects in this research were the students at the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Lambitu. The sample were 16 students in one class. The researcher used the technique of storytelling through recount text to improve speaking skill. Quantitative data analysis technique used this research through average score and percentage of students’ test, while qualitative data analysis was taken from analysis of observation during the classroom. The result of this study was in cycle I was at fair category (60-70) which average score was 67,4. It indicated the students’ ability in storytelling was not active (<50%)., which the critical success 31,5%. While in cycle II, the result of students’ score was 75,3, which means that the students were good category (60-79). The result was indicated that the students habits in storytelling technique in cycle II was active (<80%). Moreover the result of observation were student enjoy the lesson and follow the teaching and learning process smoothly and regularly. So, the conclusion that story telling technique was improving students’ speaking ability at Eleventh Grade of SMA 1 Lambitu.

The objectives of this study are to capture the implementation of Think Pair Share (TPS) in teaching-learning process, to identify the improvement of the students' writing skills, and to find out the strengths and the weaknesses of Think Pair Share (TPS) in the teaching-learning process of the seventh-grade students of MTS AL Islahuddin Kediri. This research is a classroom action research. The researcher used qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data was interview and observation. The quantitative data was tested. The step to analyze the qualitative data used data reducing, data display, and conclusion drawing. The step to analyze the quantitative data used mean formula. The result of the research shows that there are positive improvements in either student" writing skills or the class situation during the teaching-learning process.  It can be seen from the result of the test which is improved,  from the students" writing score and the post-test conducted after the action. The mean scores of students" writing scores are increased. Besides, the situation of the class is more conducive before implementing it. From the class situations improvement, it can be drawn some strengths and the weaknesses of the Think Pair Share (TPS) implementation in writing class. The strengths include that the Think Pair Share (TPS) can build critical thinking, motivation, classroom interaction, easy to discuss, -self-confidence, and active learners. The weaknesses are required special attention in classroom use, and it needs a mediator.

This study attempted to improve the students’ reading comprehension achievement in descriptive text through Team Games Tournament (TGT) method. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class IX SMP PAB 10 Medan Estate which consisted of 25 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and the first cycle consisted of four meetings the second cycle consisted of two meetings. The instruments for collecting the data were quantitative data (reading evaluation) and qualitative data (diary note, observation sheet and interview sheet). Based on reading scores, students’ score kept improving in every evaluation. In the test I the mean was 65,33, in the test II the mean was 71,72 and the test III the mean was 84,54.Based on diary note, observation sheet and interview sheet, it was found that teaching-learning process ran well. Students were active, enthusiastic, and interested in reading. The result of the research showed that Team Games Tournament (TGT) method significantly improved students’ achievement in reading comprehension especially in reading descriptive text.

This study was attempted to improve students’ achievement in writing narrativetext by watching movies. This study was conducted by using classroom action researchin two cycles. Cycle I consisted of four meetings while Cycle II consisted of twomeetings. The subject of the research was class VIII-A SMP SWASTA IMMANUELMEDAN. The number of the students was 34. To collect the data, the instruments werequantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data was the scores of the studentsand the qualitative data was interview sheets, observation sheets, and diary notes. Basedon the writing score, students’ score were improving in every test. It can be seen inOrientation test, Test I in Cycle I, and Test II in Cycle II. In Orientation test, the meanscore was 37.94 then it was improved to 65.85 in Test I. In the end of cycle II, the meanscore for test II was again improved to 83.41. Based on interview sheets, observationsheets and diary notes, it was found that teaching-learning process ran well. In line withthe data, it showed that the application of watching movies significantly improvedstudent’s achievement in writing narrative text. English teachers were suggested to givemovies to be watched as guidance on students’ narrative writing in the class.

This study deals with the way to improve students’ achievement in speaking particularly through Two Stay Two Stray Strategy. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of of the research was class X-AP SMK Swasta Harapan Danau Sijabut in Asahan Regency that consisted of 34 students. The research was conducted in two cycles consisted of three meetings in each cycle. The instruments of collecting data for quantitative data used Speaking Test and instrument for analysis of qualitative data used observation, interview and questionnaire sheet. Based on the speaking test score, students’ score kept improving in every test. In the test I the mean was 61,47, in the test II the mean was 67,41 and the test III the mean was 78,52. Based on observation sheet and questionnaire sheet, it was found that teaching learning process run well and lively. Students were active and interest in speaking. The using of Two Stay Two Stray Strategy is significantly improved students’ achievement in speaking.

This study attempts to improve students’ vocabulary achievement through Clustering Technique. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class VIII-B SMP Katolik Trisakti 2 Medan that consisted of 32 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meetings. The instruments for collecting data were vocabulary tests for quantitative data and diary notes, observation sheet and questionnaire sheet for qualitative data. Students’ score kept improving in every test. In the first cycle test, the mean of vocabulary score was 64.68. And in the second cycle test, the mean of vocabulary score was 79.85. Based on diary notes, observation sheet and questionnaire sheet, teaching and learning process had done effectively showed the improvement. Every student was studied actively. And from the research can be concluded that Clustering Technique can improve students’ achievement in vocabulary.
