Corona pandemic has a strong influence on almost all fields all over the world, especially in education. In Vietnam, in the case study of the University of Technology and Education Ho Chi Minh City (HCMUTE), most of the lecturers being responsible for theoretical subjects are required to teach their students online during the outbreak of COVID 19. It is a crucial issue that needs efficiency from online learning. This study aims to evaluate the status and efficiency of online learning at HCMUTE. Altogether 108 students and 25 lecturers participated in the study. The qualitative data collection tool was a questionnaire that has open and closed questions related to the learning environment, the interaction relationships, and learning outcomes. The results show that there is a synchronous learning environment and plenty of digital tools used by most lecturers. About 74 percent of students are satisfied and keen on continuing online learning; a large number of lecturers would like to continue with blended learning. Besides, the study also found out some difficulties that focus on two main issues such as technical issues, and decreasing students’ activeness during online classes. The study also recommends three learning activities design stages that the lecturers can apply for their online teaching to encourage students to active learning. This research extends knowledge of pedagogy and orient the next online course design at UTEx.

The 4th Industrial Revolution gives us a new protocol in learning named “Online learning”, this new kind on learning is special suitable with the quarantine condition cause by COVID-19. However, we are lack of knowledge how to increase results of online learning. This research based on the survey in students who difference in result in the same time using online learning. Thanks for this research, we have some first theories about the competences for students on new learning environment. These theories can be very useful when we want to increase the learning results.

This paper introduces the reader on how to foster successful learning communities to meet the diverse needs of university students by creating a brain based online learning environment. Students come in all shapes and sizes. At the university level, students enrolled in online programs, have made a choice to do so. Today, online education is a unique and important venue for many students wishing to continue (or start) their education. It is part of a new culture with many distinct characteristics (Farrell, 2001). For instructors, online instruction creates its own set of challenges in terms of the course design and implementation. The author hopes that developing an understanding of how to create a brain based online learning environment will inform the reader of ways to foster successful learning communities to most effectively meet the diverse needs of the students it serves.

E-Learning and Teaching is a modern method of teaching and learning based on information technology. In particular, during the industrial revolution 4.0, information technology and digitization develop strongly and rapidly in all countries, which make the traditional teaching method lose the leading position in modern education. Because E-Learning and Teaching allows the maximum exploitation of its features and utility in online teaching and learning, reduces training costs, time and brings convenience for learners anytime and anywhere. Recognizing the importance of online teaching and learning trends in the industrial revolution 4.0, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) has applied and implemented the E-Learning and Teaching system on the basis of teaching management systems such as LMS/FHQLMS and Google Classroom. Over the past few decades, substantial growth has occurred in online education in general, and this has been particularly true of the higher education sector. Most universities and post-secondary institutions now offer students the opportunity to enroll in online pre-tertiary, vocational, undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses. While some of these courses are successful for the learners who enroll in them, others have been found somewhat deficient, often criticized for their lack of humanization, interaction, communication and online presence. This chapter examines the role of the so-called soft skills of online course design and online teaching that are seen as vital for online educators who are responsible for the facilitation of high quality online learning. Along with a review of relevant literature about the soft skills of online teaching, the chapter presents three institutional case studies from which a set of practically-focused recommendations for promoting the design of humanized online learning environments has been developed.

Charles Stuart University adopted the open source software, Sakai, as the foundation for the university’s new, integrated Online Learning Environment. This study explores whether a pedagogical advantage exists in adopting such an open source learning management system. Research suggests that the community source approach to development of open source software has many inherent pedagogical advantages, but this paper examines whether this is due to the choice of open source software or simply having access to appropriate technology for learning and teaching in the 21st century. The author also addresses the challenges of the project management methodology and processes in the large-scale implementation of an open-source courseware management solution at the institutional level. Consequently, this study outlines strategies that an institution can use to harness the potential of a community source approach to software development to meet the institutional and individual user needs into the future.

The chapter discusses the background of a project which aimed at addressing the language needs of a diverse student body (both domestic and international student body) by embedding strategic approaches to learning and teaching in first year sciences in tertiary education. These strategies consisted of active learning skills which are widely used in language learning. The disciplines covered by the project were Biology, Chemistry and Physics and involved the University of Canberra, University of Sydney, University of Tasmania, University of Technology, Sydney, and University of Newcastle in Australia. This project was funded by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC).

During the times of COVID-19, teachers quickly had to address the barrier of virtual learning and adapt to a new world of online teaching. This chapter will look into effective practices for online teaching and learning. Additionally, it investigates parent communication in the classroom and how that has changed and developed during this season of COVID-19. This chapter will explore how the learning environment rapidly changed, developed, and improved. It also looks at useful resources that allow for online learning to continue to evolve and grow. In addition, this shift into an online world and how it can be transferred over when learning returns full time to classrooms to grant continued, uninterrupted learning are explored. Looking at how students from low socio-economic backgrounds were affected with the immediate shut down of schools and services, we must examine how to better set our students up for success for the future. Reflecting how schools can better prepare families will create an environment that is proactive, not reactive.
