In this study, the effect of the harmony between organizational culture and values on job satisfaction is examined.  Hierarchical regression analysis was applied to the data, which was obtained from the study conducted on 181 employees working in a private hospital in Istanbul. The result of the analysis shows that value-culture variation in which employees will have the highest job satisfaction is the traditionalist/conservative values-clan culture. The second most successful value-culture variation on job satisfaction is the impulsive/hedonistic values-adhocracy culture. In other words, it is predicted that job satisfaction will be high when an employee with traditionalist/conservative values works in an organization where clan culture is important, and an employee with impulsive/hedonistic values works in an organization where adhocracy culture is important. The most negative impacts on job satisfaction are impulsive/hedonistic values-clan culture and precautionary values-market culture. In other words, it can be said that an employee with impulsive/hedonistic values will be unhappy in clan culture, and an employee with precautionary values will be unhappy in market culture.

This study examines the relations among employee involvement, job satisfaction, and in-role performance. Job satisfaction is posited as a mediator. A total of 102 respondents filled out a self-administrated survey. The hierarchical regression analysis was performed to test the direct influence hypotheses. To carry out the mediation test, the procedures proposed by Baron and Kenny and the Sobel Test to strengthen were both used. It was found that the influence of employee involvement variables was positive on job satisfaction and in-role performance. Results also showed a positive of job satisfaction on in-role performance. Job satisfaction partially mediated the relationship between employee involvement and in-role performance.  Implications of the findings, implications, and limitations are discussed.

Although popular management wisdom has suggested that telecommuting enhances job satisfaction, research has found both positive and negative relationships. In this study, the authors attempt to resolve these inconsistent findings by hypothesizing a curvilinear, inverted U-shaped relationship between the extent of telecommuting and job satisfaction. Using hierarchical regression analysis on a sample of 321 professional-level employees, their findings suggest a curvilinear link between extent of telecommuting and job satisfaction, with satisfaction appearing to plateau at more extensive levels of telecommuting. In addition, task interdependence and job discretion moderated this link, suggesting that some job attributes play an important, contingent role.

Indicators of leadership style are directive leader, supportive leader, participtive leader and achievement oriented leader. Indicators of organizational culture are clan culture, adhocracy culture, hierarchy culture, and market culture. Indicators of job satisfaction are pay satisfaction, promotion satisfaction, supervision satisfaction, coworker satisfaction, and satisfaction with work itself. The primary data was obtained from questionnaires from 60 samples of 144 employees in PT. Agung Automall branch Sipin in Province Jambi. While secondary data were obtained by literatures. Method data analysis used multiple linear regression analysis, using SPSS program version 16.0. The result of the study showed that leadership style, organizational culture, and job satisfaction are good. The result of a mathematical equation is Y = 0,782 + 0,483X1 + 0,326X2 + e. The result showed variable leadership style and organizational culture has a positive impact on job satisfaction. The influence of leadership style and organizational culture on job satisfaction are 40,4 percents and 59, 6 percents job satisfaction is influenced by another variable. Keywords : leadership style, organizational culture, job satisfac

This study investigated the relationships of bases of leader power (coercive, reward, legitimate, expert, and referent) and styles of handling interpersonal conflict (integrating, obliging, dominating, avoiding, and compromising) to subordinates' effectiveness. Data for this study were collected with questionnaires from the United States and Bulgaria and analyzed with hierarchical regression analysis for each country. Results indicated that in the United States referent power base of supervisors and integrating style of handling conflict of subordinates were positively associated with effectiveness. In Bulgaria, legitimate power base of supervisors was positively associated with effectiveness, but the subordinates' conflict styles were not associated with effectiveness.

In two independent studies, we aimed to examine the extent to which teacher and peer nominations of loneliness are associated with children’s and adolescents’ self-reported loneliness, respectively. Additionally, we examined whether loneliness nominations from teachers and peers were informative above and beyond peer status and social behaviors associated with loneliness. In Study 1 (N = 1594, Mage = 9.43 years), teacher nominations of loneliness showed a small to moderate correlation with children’s self-reported loneliness as assessed using the Loneliness and Social Dissatisfaction Questionnaire (LSDQ). The results of a hierarchical regression analysis showed that teacher nominations of loneliness predicted children’s self-reported loneliness above and beyond teacher nominations of peer status and social behaviors. In Study 2 (N = 350, Mage = 13.81 years), peer nominations of loneliness showed a small to moderate correlation with adolescents’ self-reported loneliness as assessed using the peer-related loneliness subscale of the Loneliness and Aloneness Scale for Children and Adolescents (LACA). The results of a hierarchical regression analysis showed that peer nominations of loneliness predicted adolescents’ self-reported loneliness above and beyond peer nominations of peer status and social behaviors. We conclude that loneliness nominations are valuable, but caution is needed when they are used exclusively to identify lonely children and adolescents.

Abstract This study aims to examine the predictors of professional commitment of the Chinese new generation, divided into post-80s and post-90s cohorts. A questionnaire survey was employed to collect data from Chinese seafaring officers of these cohorts. The results through hierarchical regression analysis present the two cohorts as having both similar and different predictors. The main difference is that company management and policies positively drive the post-80s cohort to work at sea but not the post-90s. The main similarity is that the work itself is the most important predictor for both cohorts. This study contributes to helping maritime companies to estimate the possibility of Chinese new generation officers quitting sea jobs and can be of value to both managers and authorities as they seek to comprehend the generational dynamic features to better cope with the problem of shortage of younger qualified officers.

The purpose of this study was to investigate possible predictive relationships between interval identification and melodic dictation performance on tasks where students identify short pitch spans after a brief tonicization. College musicians ( N = 35) completed an interval identification test and a series of melodic dictation tasks. Results indicated that interval identification and melodic dictation tests reflected a battery of items ranging from very easy to very difficult with acceptable Cronbach’s α levels. We conducted a two-stage hierarchical regression analysis to examine the extent to which interval identification served as a predictor of melodic dictation accuracy while controlling for selected music and demographic variables. Results indicated that interval identification served as a significant predictor of melodic dictation scores, contributing 28.9% of the variance in melodic dictation scores while controlling for musical experience variables. The analysis indicated a dictation task by interval ability interaction based on grouping by lower, mid-, and upper performing groups on the interval identification test. Issues in measurement of melodic dictation accuracy and strategies that affect the development of melodic dictation skills are discussed.
