The purpose of this study was to determine: (1) the implementation of playing methods in science learning at Raudhatul Atfhal Asyyifa Medan. (2) children's activities in participating in science learning at Raudhatul Atfhal Asyyifa Medan, and (3) the application of play methods can improve children's critical thinking skills in science learning. The study was conducted at Raudhatul Atfhal Asyyifa Medan. The method used is a qualitative research method. Data sources are the principal, teachers and students. Data retrieved through observation, documentation, and interviews. Data are analyzed based on data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The research findings show: (1) the implementation of play methods in science learning at Raudhatul Atfhal Asyyifa Medan, presented through various science experiment activities that can improve children's critical thinking skills. This can happen, because in science learning done with fun through science experiments that are packaged in playing while learning, children are not burdened with things that are academic because actually the nature of learning in kindergarten emphasizes more fun learning activities so the concept of play is very strong, (2) children's activities in participating in science learning at Raudhatul Atfhal Asyyifa Medan showed a positive response in this case because learning is done while playing that brings children to a pleasant atmosphere because science experiments applied are varied experiments in which there are children's activities to think critically, and (3) the application of play methods can improve children's critical thinking skills in learning science.

Mathematical learning needs to be given to all students starting from elementary school, so that students practice how to think in drawing conclusions and be able to express their opinions with the beliefs and honesty that comes from someone. But when learning mathematics the problem that often arises is a lack of motivation. Baroody (1993) says that reasoning is an important tool in learning mathematics to produce ideas so students can understand mathematical concepts correctly. Efforts made by teachers to improve thinking skills and motivation in learning mathematics are through the Adobe Flash CS 5.0 game which is expected to provide new and enjoyable experiences for teachers and students. In addition to more varied learning, students can be motivated to learn and enjoy what they learn.

Teachers committed to practicing critical pedagogy often must do so in spite of the curriculum materials available to them. This paper analyzes the conventions of form and style that typify traditional educational film. The argument is made that while teachers and students are active producers and negotiators of meaning, the aesthetic conventions of most educational films negate this classroom reality. The paper analyzes a sample of films produced between 1940 and 1960 to determine the norms that were set in place during the time when the dominant style of educational films became fully established. It then compares these norms to the forms and styles of two contemporary educational films that deal with social issues. It suggests that while some conventions have changed across time, they continue to be employed in ways that actively work against critical thinking and liberatory education.

This research is motivated by the lack of teachers' ability to use media related to the students environment as teaching materials to develop primary school students' critical thinking ability. The research aims at developing problem-based learning media (PBL) using comic book in order to improve students' critical thinking ability. The research employed a research and development design using the experimental research design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of the research were 28 fourth-grade students in one of primary schools in Indramayu Regency. The research produced a product in the form of problem-based comic media developed based on the needs of teachers and students. The subject material in the comic book contained problems that occurred in the real environment within the students. Based on the validation tests carried out by material experts, media experts and practitioners, the results revealed that the product was included in the “Very Valid” category. While, the practicality test results revealed that the product was included in the “Very Practical”.
