Abstract The present research investigated the efficacy of parent engagement in children's learning and achievement in the English language. It is emphasized that adult guidance in foreign language learning cannot necessarily play an influential role in children's zone of proximal development (ZPD). It seems that parents or adults should enjoy relative linguistic skills, while in Vygotsky's theory, there is ambiguity over some concepts such as adult guidance characteristics. The statistical society consisted of sixty Iranian children ranging from 9 to 10, divided randomly into three groups of experimental 1, experimental 2, and control. Children received face-to-face education while Telegram was used for their parents. The research results showed significantly more learning, skill training, parent involvement, and shared activities between children and parents in the experimental1 and experimental 2 groups compared to the control group. Moreover, a positive correlation is found between parent involvement and children's achievement in all three groups. The results also showed that parents' involvement and teaching involvement, and language skills had the most influence on parents' involvement. Furthermore, teaching engagement to parents had the most significant influence on children's activities. In addition, children's activities and language skill training had the most influence on their learning.

This study was developed with the aim of analyzing the role of parents in improving the quality of family worship based on the book of Deuteronomy 6:7. This study use a qualitative method by descriptive approach using literature and journal studies. The results of the study indicate that the inculcation of spiritual and religious values must be carried out by parents. The word 'teach' in this verse uses the Hebrew word shânan and the word shânan here uses the root form of the Piel PERFECT type which means to whet or to sharpen, in Ugarit this is interpreted as the act of repeating, expressing an active process so that shânan is interpreted by teaching diligently. A similar emphasis to the word 'to speak' which comes from the Hebrew word dâbar also uses the Piel form to mean to talk continuously. Shânan and dâbar can be done in well-organized family worship in the morning ang evening as exemplified by parents. Parents can 'teach diligently' by linking children's activities with knowledge of God, at any time and at every opportunity. Parents are important educators for their children to forge, educate, train, guide and discipline their children by promoting peace and harmony.

Young children often struggle to accomplish goals without instructions or reminders from adults. Less-structured activities might facilitate children’s emerging self-directed executive functioning, by giving children opportunities to choose what to do and when, and to practice setting and accomplishing goals. In one study, 6-year-old children who spent more time in less-structured activities showed better self-directed switching on a verbal fluency task; conversely, more time in adult-structured activities predicted worse switching (Barker et al., 2014). However, it is unclear from such correlational studies whether children’s activities caused differences in executive functioning, as opposed to differences in executive functioning shaping how children spent time, or a third factor driving both. The current study thus investigated relationships between children’s experiences and self-directed executive function in a genetically-informative longitudinal twin sample (N= 936; 472 female, 464 male) . Twins who lived in more structured homes and participated in more structured activities at ages 3 and 4 showed worse self-directed switching on a verbal fluency task at age 7, controlling for earlier performance and concurrent levels of environmental structure. These relationships persisted controlling for general cognitive ability, vocabulary knowledge, and socioeconomic status. Associations between early time use and self-directed switching were mediated by nonshared environmental rather than genetic factors. These findings are consistent with early structured time causally affecting later self-directed executive function.

Thus, raising talented youths can lead to increased challenges of parenting.Purpose: This study aimed to explore the challenges faced by Javanese Muslim parents in promoting the well-being of talented youths. Methods: A descriptive phenomenological approach was chosen to guide this study. Thirteen Javanese Muslim parents of talented youth (nine men and three women) were recruited using snowball and purposive sampling techniques. The data were obtained by conducting semi-structured interviews and field notes. The collected data were transcribed using verbatim transcription and analyzed using Giorgi’s method of analysis. Results: Three themes were found after data analysis, i.e., challenges coming from the youths, challenges from the community, and the existence of financial constraints in the family. Challenges coming from the youth were related to the oppositional behavior of talented youths and difficulties in managing children’s activities as students and as talented youths. Challenges from the community included low commitment and belittling behavior from teachers or lecturers, ridicule from their neighbors, gender-based discrimination, and the absence of support from the organization. Another theme was related to financial constraints in the family which made it difficult for parents to finance their youth’s education and talent activities. Conclusion: Identifying the actual problems experienced by the talented youths’ parents could help nurses develop appropriate family programs, consider, and incorporate holistic aspects into the programs to obtain optimal results.
