In an environment of business uncertainty that has characterized the 21st century, enterprises, mainly small and medium-sized ones (SMEs), have to redirect or adequate their business strategies in order to adapt as fast as possible to the changes demanded by the market. Therefore, SMEs have to be more proactive nowadays, take higher risks and be more innovative in order to survive as well as to improve significantly their innovation capabilities in products, services and management systems. In simple terms, SMEs have to adopt and implement the entrepreneurial orientation as part of their everyday activities so they have more possibilities to increase their innovation level. Thus, the main objective of this research is to analyze the existing relation between proactivity, risk taking and innovativeness (dimensions of the entrepreneurial orientation) with the innovation capabilities (innovation in products, services and management systems). The results obtained show that there is a positive and significant relation among the three dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation and innovation capabilities.

Environmental intention is a key predictor of environmental behavior but there is little theoretical and empirical evidence on environmental intention, especially in developing countries. To address this gap, we study the environmental intention of industrial owner-managers in Tunisia. Based on Tunisia’s participation in sustainable development programs of the United Nations, it seems to be representative of developing countries. We study the environmental intention of owner-managers through a multidimensional concept rarely mobilized in the environmental field, namely, entrepreneurial orientation. We test our hypotheses in the textile-clothing industry, which is the source of significant amounts of water and air pollution and is among the priority industries designated by the Tunisian state as part of an environmental improvement program in 2014. Based on a survey of 226 owner-managers, the results show that the three dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation, namely, innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking, are robust to predict the environmental intention of Tunisian owner-managers.

Abstract: While the EO-performance nexus has received extensive attention in entrepreneurship literature, other studies suggest that the magnitude of this relationship is dependent upon the external environment and internal organizational processes. The objective of this study was to measure the effects of EO (innovativeness, risk-taking, proactiveness, autonomy and competitive aggressiveness) on SME performance, as well as to examine the moderating effect of environmental hostility on the EO-performance relationship in South Africa. The study showed thatwhile innovativeness and proactiveness does not have a significant effect on SME performance; risk taking propensity, competitive aggressiveness, and autonomy have a significant positive effect on SME performance. It was also seen that while the risk taking-performance relationship is negatively moderated by environmental hostility, the competitive aggressiveness-performance relationship is positively moderated by environmental hostility. This suggest the need for SMEs to always align their business strategies with appropriate EO dimensions to mitigate some of the negative consequences of operating in hostile business environments and improve the performance of their businesses. Keywords: Entrepreneurial orientation, SME performance, Environmental Hostility, South Africa

Many business schools in the world seek to create newly aspiring entrepreneurs starting from their university years. Many Indonesian universities also engage in this challenging effort. This study investigates the effect of students’ individual entrepreneurial orientation (IEO) on entrepreneurial intention (EI) through regression analysis and t-test on 200 students from several major Indonesian universities. Our results indicate that all IEO dimensions (i.e., innovativeness, risk-taking, proactiveness, passion, and perseverance) positively affect EI. These findings fill in the gap regarding the IEO studies in other contexts by adding two new dimensions, namely passion and perseverance. Further, this study demonstrates that students who have taken entrepreneurship courses exhibit greater effect of IEO on EI, but only in two dimensions (i.e., risk taking and proactiveness). Besides, students who actively participate in student organizations exhibit higher IEO than those who do not, especially in three dimensions dimensions (i.e., innovativeness, risk taking, proactiveness). Hence, this study underscores the importance of various learning exposures (not only in the classroom) for university students to develop their IEO.

In the literature, there are various studies relating positively the entrepreneurial orientation to business performance. In such studies a great deal of variables have been introduced to measure business performance, among the variables most accepted by researchers and academics are profit and business growth. Therefore, it is possible to consider that entrepreneurial orientation plays an essential role in business growth. For that reason, this paper has the objective to analyse the existing relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and growth, by using a random sample of 318 small and medium-sixed enterprises in México. The results obtained show that proactivity, risk taking and innovativeness along with the competitive aggression and autonomy have significant and positive effects on small and medium-sized enterprises’ growth.

Abstract: Family Involvement In Governance And Company Organizations In The Context Of Entrepreneurial Orientation. Family companies, as the biggest contributors to economic growth, often have an inconsistent performance. This study aims to determine how the dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation can have an influence on family firm performance. This study uses three dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation consisting of innovativeness, proactiveness and risk taking. Family involvement in the management of family companies is used as moderation whether it has an impact on family firm performance. The sample of this research is a family company community formed from a university in Surabaya. The research used PLS analysis tool. The results showed that proactiveness had a significant effect on family firm performance, while innovativeness and risk taking had no effect. The result of moderation shows that family involvement does not moderate the dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation towards family firm performance. These findings provide an overview for family companies that are still medium and small in scale and have not been open to involving family members in organizational governance yet have an impact on company performance. The involvement of family members is only administrative in nature for company owners

Abstract Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has a relatively low level of entrepreneurial activity as evidenced by GEM reports but also has an economic structure in which SMEs account for about 99% of the total number of enterprises. The goal of this paper was to examine the level of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and influence of EO on business performances of SMEs in the Republic of Srpska (RS), one of the two BiH entities, in which the empirical research was done. We have used adapted Covin & Slevin (1989) version of the questionnaire. We found out that only 12.28% of sampled SMEs have all three dimensions of EO pronounced. The least pronounced dimension is risk-taking and the most pronounced dimension is proactiveness. Our research did not confirm the impact of EO on selected indicators of business performances.

The critical phenomenon that SMEs' innovativeness denotes has growing interest from developing country researchers from multiple fields over the last decades. Thus, the study's objective is to examine the Entrepreneurial Orientations' effect on SMEs' innovativeness in Sri Lanka. Risk-taking, proactiveness, autonomy, innovativeness, and Competitiveness have been used to operationalize the Entrepreneurial Orientation concept, and SMEs' innovation performance was conceptualized based on three dimensions. A self-administrated questionnaire is distributed to the SEM owners and collected seventy-six completed questionnaires. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Results of the study shown that OE as a whole significantly impacts innovative performance. Specifically, while the four dimensions of EO, namely, risk-taking, proactiveness, innovativeness, and autonomy, significantly impact SMEs' innovative performance. But, Competitiveness does not have a significant influence on SMEs' innovation performance. The study focuses only on OE that influences SMEs innovation performance. The most considerable significant portion of enterprises in Sri Lankan business sector represents SMEs. It is anticipated that Sri Lankan policy makers, SME owners, and business decision-makers will help SMEs better understand policymakers' significant impact on SMEs' innovation performance.

In the current literature, there is an important debate about the nature and way of measuring the entrepreneurial orientation level in companies. Some researchers regard this as a one-dimension construct, whereas others view this as a multi-dimensional construct that can vary in an independent manner. Similarly, others consider that the right scale to measure entrepreneurial orientation is through three dimensions instead of five as some propose. Therefore, the objective of this investigation is to analyze the level of entrepreneurial orientation of small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) by using three dimensions: proactivity, risk taking and innovation in a sample of 318 companies in Aguascalientes region, Mexico. The results obtained show that proactivity, risk taking and innovation have significant positive effects on business orientation of small and medium-size enterprises.

The high failure rate among small businesses in South Africa has created an urgent need to identify strategies that will improve their levels of performance. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between entrepreneurially orientated strategies implemented by small businesses in the Eastern Cape and the influence of these strategies on business performance. Entrepreneurial orientated strategies were assessed in terms of the five dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation, namely innovativeness, proactiveness, competitive aggressiveness, risk-taking and autonomy. Business performance was assessed in terms of profitability and growth. A measuring instrument was developed based on valid and reliable items. Statistical techniques including descriptive statistics, Pearson’s product moment correlations and structural equation modelling, were performed on data gathered from 317 small business enterprises. The results of this study showed that the more small businesses implement the strategies of proactive innovativeness, competitive aggressiveness, and autonomy, and the less risk-taking their strategies are, the more likely their businesses are to be successful.

Key words: Small business, Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial orientation

Entrepreneurial orientation is found to influence Project success along with the moderation of adaptive organizational culture and people centered management in most of the cases. This study, by addressing the moderation brings clarity to the assessment of the relation of entrepreneurial orientation dimensions on project success and is a contribution to the advancement of knowledge enhancement and improvement in Pakistan. A predominantly quantitative research strategy supported by qualitative inputs employed to obtain empirical data from 256 corporate firms in Punjab Pakistan. The gathered data examined by the structural equation modeling through Partial least square method. The results indicate that innovativeness, risk taking and proactiveness reflect the entrepreneurial orientation components. The findings of this study conclude that three dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation Innovation, Risk-taking and Proactiveness have significant and positive influence on project success. When these three dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation are moderated with adaptive organizational culture and People-Centered Management shows moderate to strong relations between different variables with a few insignificant results.
