The Norwegian National Curriculum in 1997 introduced four subject curricula for deaf students as part of new legislation giving deaf students who have acquired sign language as their first language the right to instruction in the use of sign language and through the medium of sign language. A few years later, new hearing technologies contributed to substantial changes in the educational context. This situation has challenged the school system, schools, and teachers. The chapter is organized in three sections. First, the educational system and the process leading to the introduction of new legislation is presented. The second section deals with information about the use of curricula for deaf students. The last section discusses issues of students’ achievements, classroom processes, and national policies.

Estudo etnográfico, com revisão de literatura sobre a construção social do conceito juventude, tem como objetivo relatar e analisar narrativas juvenis em torno do direito à educação. A análise empírica seleciona duas ondas de mobilizações protagonizadas por jovens estudantes: Atos em defesa das Universidades e Institutos Federais ocorridos na cidade de Florianópolis-SC; Na capital da Argentina, Buenos Aires, a narrativa etnográfica se debruça na análise de mobilizações protagonizadas por jovens portenhos que tomaram as ruas exigindo a manutenção da Ley Nacional de Educación, além de se posicionarem radicalmente contra as medidas de austeridade anunciadas pelo Governo Maurício Macri. A análise dos dados etnográficos aponta que a pauta em defesa da educação é capaz de unir coletivos e organizações dos mais variados espectros ideológicos.Palavras-chave: Juventude. Neoliberalismo. América Latina.NARRATIVES ON THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION IN DISPUTE: anthropological lights to understand youth mobilizationsAbstractEthnographic study, with a review of the literature on the social construction of the concept of youth, in order to report and analyze youth narratives around the right to education.The empirical analysis selected two waves of mobilizations carried out by young students: Acts in defense of public educational institutions occurred in the city of Florianópolis-SC, Brazil;In the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, the ethnographic narrative focused on the analysis of mobilizations carried out by young people who went to the streets demanding the maintenance of the “National Education Law”, as well as to stand radicallyagainst the austerity measures announced by the MaurícioMacri Government. The analysis of the ethnographic data indicates that the agenda in defense of education is capable of uniting collectives and organizations affiliated to the mostdiverse ideological currents.Keywords: Youth. ResumenNos proponemos reflexionar acerca de la relación entre dos principios bioéticos fundamentales en el ejercicio del derecho a la salud: el principio de autonomí­a y el de vulnerabilidad, en el marco de cambios legales en salud ocurridos en las últimas décadas en Argentina. El respeto a la vulnerabilidad comienza a consolidarse no sólo como el reconocimiento al principio más esencial de la Bioética sino como la base de toda la ética. La vulnerabilidad de individuos y poblaciones requiere una concepción de autonomí­a que implique en sí­ misma la inclusión. Se presentan algunas reflexiones y resultados de un proyecto de investigación realizado en 2018-2019 desde la Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, que analiza este tema a partir de la percepción de los profesionales de la salud pública en el Partido de General Pueyrredón, provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Palabras clave: autonomí­a, vulnerabilidad, bioética, leyes en salud, derecho a la salud. AbstractWe propose to reflect on the relationship between two fundamental bioethical principles in the exercise of the right to health: the principle of autonomy and that of vulnerability, within the framework of legal changes in health that have occurred in recent decades in Argentina. Respect for vulnerability begins to consolidate not only as recognition of the most essential principle of Bioethics but as the basis of all ethics. The vulnerability of individuals and populations requires a conception of autonomy that implies inclusion in itself. The author discovered American Sign Language (ASL) and the world of the deaf whilst in the United States. He helped set up a research program in the psycholinguistics of ASL and describes a few studies he did. He also edited, with Harlan Lane, a special issue of Langages on sign language, for French colleagues. The author then worked on the bilingualism and biculturalism of the deaf, and authored a text on the right of the deaf child to become bilingual. It has been translated into 30 different languages and is known the world over.
