“Open Innovation” activities are of crucial importance in the Research and Development (RD) department, especially for survival among enterprises in the competitive nature. There has been an increasing interest in “Open Innovation”. However, the rate of interest has yet to be measured by publications trends. This study aims to demonstrate the trends of “Open Innovation” from 2012 to 2017 and highlight the key-phrases for the selected topic. In this bibliometric study, a total of 3,567 publications were investigated in the SCOPUS database using SciVal platform. The concept of “Open Innovation” has received considerable attentions since 2003, and the highly cited paper was published by Chesbrough. The top 50 key-phrases by relevancy indicated the importance of “Open Innovation” and other emerging research areas, giving a guideline for future research.

Bitcoin, as the first decentralized cryptocurrency, pioneers the cryptocurrency markets, both in terms of market capitalization and scientific interest. In this paper, we performed a comprehensive bibliometric study of the Bitcoin-related literature. Using the Scopus database, we created a sample that comprises 4495 documents written in the 2011–2020 period. Furthermore, we provided insights about dimensions such as the change in the number of publications over the course of years, the main research areas, types of published documents, most important platforms and sources of Bitcoin publications, highly cited studies, productive authors, author’s countries, and finally main funders of Bitcoin-related research. Lastly, our bibliometric study manifests the current state and future path of Bitcoin literature from distinct perspectives.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to review the literature on logistics and supply chain costs to provide an analysis of sources of publication, citations and authorship using bibliometric analysis techniques (VOSviewer and CitNetExplorer tools).Design/methodology/approachA review of 756 articles published during the period 2014 to 2019 referenced in the Scopus database was performed. The review was limited to articles published in English and directly related to logistics and supply chain costs.FindingsThe research identified more than 2,000 authors representing more than 5,000 keywords and 10,000 references from a total of 155 journals investigated. A critical synthesis of the resulting data revealed several insights about various aspects of studies in this field. For instance, the review identified a scarcity of academic publications in three key areas, namely “supply chain,” “optimization” and “transportation”, which are concepts focused on the total supply chain.Originality/valueThis research highlights important areas of attention for both researchers and practitioners considering costs associated with logistics and supply chain operations and strategies. The results can also help identify thematic areas, journals and topics for future research. The paper identifies and proposes research areas to contribute to the literature when challenges to investigating logistics and supply chain costs are discussed.

Research and Development (R&D) activities and Open Innovation activities (OI) have been of crucial importance in Low/Medium Technology (LMT) sectors that are based on the innovation abilities of LMT firms. This article analyzes the links between OI activities and R&D activities in Catalan (Spain) LMT firms. First, we develop a model of how innovation is developed within LMT Catalan firms. By analyzing R&D and OI activities in LMT firms, we measure both internal and external activities of these firms. Secondly, we explore the effects of R&D activities and OI activities in the industrial sector, and then the effects of both in the market of the Catalonia region. Catalan LMT firms have unique opportunities in the innovation process, yet face some obstacles. The objective of this article is to advocate for bridges to be built between university research and public centers, and LMT firms in Catalonia. To define the current issue within the field of Catalan LMT firms, we sample 2008 to 2010 data from the Spanish National Statistical Institute (INE), Statistical Institute of Catalonia (IDESCAT), and the Organization for Economic, Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Organizations use multiple strategies to increase the number and impact of eco-innovations as a path to achieve competitive advantage. In this article, we study the role of open innovation activities, specifically related to market sources, as a driver of eco-innovation performance. While studies have looked at the relationship between these two emergent innovation phenomena from a broad perspective, we explore whether specific market knowledge sources—clients, suppliers, competitors, and consultants—and their combined use—affect eco-innovation performance. We rely on insights from theories of open innovation and sustainable and environmental innovation to build a theoretical framework about the determinants of eco-innovation performance from a market-driven open innovation perspective. Our sample consists of 3047 firm-year observations obtained from three consecutive panels of the Chilean Innovation Survey (2009–2014). We found that clients, suppliers, competitors, and consultants as knowledge sources positively influence eco-innovation performance in firms. In addition, our results suggest that a combination of client sourcing with supplier and consultant sources of knowledge positively affect eco-innovation performance. We discuss the implications of our findings for open innovation activities on eco-innovation and suggest ideas for future research.

ABSTRACT  This paper investigates global research of highly cited articles on biochar for wastewater treatment using bibliometricanalysis from Scopus database. Based on bibliometric, highly cited articles were published between 2009-2018. We found33 highly cited articles with 6,429 citations from various journals, countries, institutions, and authors. The most activejournal to publish biochar in wastewater treatment is Journal of Hazardous Materials (JHM) from Netherlands. Mostactive authors come from America and China. University of Florida, USA, is the most active institution to research theuse of biochar in wastewater treatment. Then, the common keywords that authors used are biochar and heavy metals. Itshows that biochar is effective to remove heavy metals from wastewater. Also, biochar optimization in production andadsorption is a concern of future research. This is one of the first attempts to understand a stream of research which, overtime, has paved the way for the utilization of biochar as a material for wastewater treatment.

Objectives The number of original scientific researches on intracranial aneurysms has risen over the last 30 years. Despite the rise in the number of articles, there is no up-to-date exhaustive bibliometric research in the literature. This study aimed to contribute to the literature via a bibliometric analysis of the original scientific researches on intracranial aneurysms published over the last 30 years. Methods The literature review was done using the Web of Science. All articles and its citations containing aneurysm keywords were analyzed in the "title" section of articles published in the research areas: Neurosciences Neurology during 1980–2019. Correlation analyses between the number of articles produced by the countries and their economic and development indicators of gross domestic product, and Human Development Index were analyzed using the Spearman correlation coefficient. Linear regression analysis was utilized to estimate the number of articles to be published in the future. Results There were a total of 21,673 publications on intracranial aneurysms. Of these publications, 13,371 (61.7%) were articles. The three countries that produced the most articles were the USA (4098), Japan (2668), and China (937). A statistically significant correlation was found between the development indicators of world countries and publication productivity ( p<0.001). The three journals that produced the most publications were Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery, and American Journal of Neuroradiology. The most cited article was published in Journal of Neurosurgery. Conclusion This bibliometric study provides a collection of data that will help design future research on intracranial aneurysms more efficiently and make innovations at greater speed.

This work stresses the centrality of the Service-Dominant Logic (S-D logic) point of view and the relationships between firm and Open Innovation Intermediary in the knowledge development process providing a conceptual framework. From an in-depth literature review on S-D logic, Open Innovation Intermediaries and firm dynamic capabilities, a development of a conceptual framework based on these research areas is provided. The framework is intended to highlight the role of customers (firms) into professional relationships with intermediaries of innovation becomes progressively significant in the innovation activities because these professional relationships increasingly become co-creators of value. Within their advanced platforms, intermediaries or brokers, encourage, promote and sustain interactions and partnerships aligned to value co-creation enterprises. This is achieved by providing a heterogeneous set of services to augment dynamic cooperation, to advance concepts or solutions for solving interdisciplinary problems and, consequently, to address an organization&rsquo;s requirements for new market opportunities. Therefore, these partnerships represent a possible way to define and to improve the value cocreation actions by firms that intend to engage and to cooperate with adjunctive and integrative resources and expertise. In addition, the framework has been designed to highlight a particular domain centered on the role of each S-D Logic axioms within the innovation capabilities; and the relationship and orientation between organisation and innovation intermediary. The main findings highlight that both firms and Open Innovation Intermediaries need to develop innovative capabilities through direct and indirect relationships within the S-D logic perspective. This study is an effort towards building a conceptual framework by connecting the concepts of Open Innovation Intermediaries, dynamic capabilities and S-D logic.

Halal tourism has grown in popularity due to the rise of the Muslim population; howbeit it is still a relatively new field. This study aimed to evaluate halal tourism’s publication trends, research areas, prolific sources, most cited documents, co-authorship concerning authors, institutions and countries, and keywords co-occurrence. Using the Scopus database, 118 halal tourism publications were disseminated between 2010 and 2020. This study found an increase in halal tourism in 2018, and the rate increased to 42 in 2020. It can be construed that halal tourism draws in a variety of research areas. Indonesian scholars have been contributed to 26.42% of the overall publications, which leading 34 other countries. Authors’ keywords of ‘Islamic tourism’, ‘Muslim tourists’, ‘halal hospitality’, ‘customer satisfaction’, ‘halal certification’ and ‘religiosity’ have substantially impacted the online search for information. This bibliometric study offers a comprehensive and in-depth glance at halal tourism, which could aid industry and academia.

Purpose Halal is an emerging business sector and is steadily gaining popularity among scholars and practitioners. The purpose of this paper is to critically evaluate and review the reported literature in the broad area of Halal using bibliometric technique and network analysis tools. Moreover, this paper also proposes future research directions in the field of Halal. Design/methodology/approach This paper employed a systematic review technique followed by bibliometric analysis to gain insight and to evaluate the research area associated with Halal. Furthermore, data mining techniques are used for analysing the concerned article title, keywords and abstract of 946 research articles obtained through the Scopus database. Finally, network analysis is used to identify significant research clusters. Findings This study reports top authors contributing to this area, the key sub-research areas and the influential works based on citations and PageRank. We identified from the citation analysis that major influential works of Halal are from the subject area of biological science and related areas. Further, this study reports established and emerging research clusters, which provide future research directions. Research limitations/implications Scopus database is used to conduct a systematic review and corresponding bibliometric study; the authors might have missed some peer-reviewed studies not reported in Scopus. The selection of keywords for article search may not be accurate for the multi-disciplinary Halal area. Also, the authors have not considered the banking/financial aspects of Halal. The proposed four research clusters may inform potential researcher towards supporting the industry. Originality/value The novelty of the study is that no published study has reported the bibliometric study and network analysis techniques in the area of Halal.
