The potential of the solar energy sector is starting to become increasingly important. The possibility to produce electrical power for household needs, as a result of an investment in photovoltaics is gaining popularity, and storing its surplus in a power grid and settlement of its consumption on the basis of an annual balance, allows to limit electricity bills to the minimum. The implementation stage, which promotes investing in solar renewable energy for own household needs was introduced by the new Act on RES, promoting the prosumer On-Grid system. The paper focuses on presenting the analysis of profitability of installing photovoltaic On-grid systems.

The main purpose of developing microgrids (MGs) is to facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources (RESs) into the power grid. RESs are normally connected to the grid via power electronic inverters. As various types of RESs are increasingly being connected to the electrical power grid, power systems of the near future will have more inverter-based generators (IBGs) instead of synchronous machines. Since IBGs have significant differences in their characteristics compared to synchronous generators (SGs), particularly concerning their inertia and capability to provide reactive power, their impacts on the system dynamics are different compared to SGs. In particular, system stability analysis will require new approaches. As such, research is currently being conducted on the stability of power systems with the inclusion of IBGs. This review article is intended to be a preface to the Special Issue on Voltage Stability of Microgrids in Power Systems. It presents a comprehensive review of the literature on voltage stability of power systems with a relatively high percentage of IBGs in the generation mix of the system. As the research is developing rapidly in this field, it is understood that by the time that this article is published, and further in the future, there will be many more new developments in this area. Certainly, other articles in this special issue will highlight some other important aspects of the voltage stability of microgrids.

There is no denial that renewable energy is considered to be the most cost-competitive source of clean power in many parts of the world. Saudi Arabia’s vision 2030 aims at achieving the best by using different sources of renewable energy such as solar energy, wind energy, and others. The use of solar energy in particular for power generation will decrease the dependency on oil, and thus, decrease the greenhouse gasses. Solar panels efficiency tends to decrease with the accumulation of dust on their surface. Thus, a cleaning process requires assigning and employing labor, which increases the cost of running as well as high cost of machinery. The current study focuses on assessing and designing a simple auto self-cleaning system in order to improve the efficiency of the solar panel. The results showed that for the Al-Khobar region, Eastern Province, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the efficiency of the solar panels after cleaning was increased from 6% to an average of 12% at nominal temperature of 27 °C. In addition, the average power output was increased by 35% during the day time. In addition, the normal efficiency of the solar panels before cooling was between 10% to 15% at 42 °C. After cooling, the temperature of solar cells decreased to 20 °C and the efficiency increased by 7%. Moreover, the output power was increased by 31% with maximum efficiency of 32% at noon time.

Renewable energy especially solar energy has become a significant part in electrical power generation with its advantage in the environmentally friendly and current trend of decrease in installation cost. The photovoltaic (PV) system on a rooftop is one of the power generating system based on renewable energy that can fit building to utilize space efficiently. This paper is analyzing the feasibility of installing a solar PV rooftop on the building using a case study building located in Bangkok, Thailand. The performance will be evaluated in term of both energy and economic perspective. The comparison with Thailand building energy code also been done to show that overall energy consumption with PV system complies with the law. The result has shown that with rooftop photovoltaic system installation, annual energy consumption in the building can be reduced significantly and it can achieve feasibility in term of economic perspective.

Hydrogen is regarded as the potential bearer of energy of the future. Solar hydrogen is the hydrogen produced using renewable energy, particularly solar energy [15,8]. The availability of water and hours of sunshine make Algeria a place of choice for solar hydrogen production. In this work, solar hydrogen production by electrolysis of water is considered. The required energy for water dissociation is supplied by a photovoltaic system. A design and operation study of a photovoltaic system has been done for three different regions in Algeria. The production potential is highly significant particularly in the south parts of this country.

In today’s world we are going towards the major share of renewable energy to reduce the effect Green House Gases (GHG) in the atmosphere. The limitation of energy sources which produces clean energy, the rise in the pollution in the environment, and programs initiated by the Indian Government have encouraged lots of open field researches on Solar Photovoltaic Systems or Solar Energy Systems. As producing the clean and renewable energy is main component of energy sector, solar photovoltaic could be considered as an alternative in various regions. Although Solar Photovoltaic does have different advantages and can be used for various purposes, but also there are several challenges for it. This paper took a whole overview of the advantages and uses of Solar Photovoltaic and barriers in their adaptation/opportunities.

India’s electrical power system grid also known as the power grid is serving us from a very long time. In this duration, there were no major developments or changes reported in the power grid system. Electrical power consumer demand is increasing drastically and the present grid system is not able to fulfil these emerging requirements. To fulfil the requirements of future power load, we need a modified system which has to be reliable, secure, intelligent and efficient. By converting the power grid into the smart grid will be a promising solution for adopting the above properties. Communication Infrastructure is a major part of the smart grid. The end-user can reduce their expenditure on electricity demand by using smart home appliance, to keep away from the rush hours and also make use of the renewable energy instead from utility, is a great example of deployment of internet of things (IoT) in grid communication. In this paper, we have provided a survey of different communication technology, applications, benefits and challenges in communication infrastructure, spatially IoT.

Energy has important meaning in social and economics achievement to continously development and support to national economics activities. Energy consumption in Indonesia increases rapidly parallel with economics engagement and people growth. To supply energy requirement, renewable energy source should be developed. Renewable energy potency like solar energy hasn’t been used for big scale although Indonesia has big energy potency. Indonesia be included on tropical area which is exposed sun radiance almost year. It means solar energy has good prospects to be developed in Indonesia. Solar energy is one kind of energy which is gotten by converting sun calor energy to another type of energy. Solar energy can be used in form solar cell for electrical power plant. The utilization of solar cell can help people who lives on isolated area which is far from electrical network to use electrical energy.

Photovoltaic solar energy is a clean renewable energy source that allows obtaining electricity directly from solar radiation through semiconductor devices called photovoltaic cells. The present research aims to pre-design an isolated system for a house that can serve as a pattern for the electrification of houses that today do not have power in the province of Manabí. To carry out the proposal, the PVsyst was used, a tool for sizing the system, in addition to the bibliographic review, the qualitative-quantitative, and the inductive deductive. It was obtained as a result that photovoltaic solar energy is adequate to provide a solution to isolated homes that today do not have energy service, in addition to those that have a poor quality of service.
