The Y generation is understood as that born under the influence of the digital technologies. Now it’s represented by the young university students that created such a tight bond with the internet and its tools that uses them easily and frequently. Many works say that this generation of immediate young people accustomed to multitasking has developed a new kind of neuroplasticity entirely different of their antecessors and therefore possess peculiar habits and mechanisms of learning that should be respected and considered in the dynamics of teaching and learning, creating a pressure in the educational institutions to adequate in this reality. However, there are a few studies evaluating the real existence of these characteristics. Thus, we preset the conclusions of this descriptive qualitative project fulfilled with medicine students at Faculdade de Medicina de São José Rio Preto that aim to know how these students use digital technologies and the impact of their habits and behaviors regarding the involvement with technologies in their studies. The conclusion was that technologies are an important influence on student’s lifes, however continues to be one among several others, which allows the teachers to keep a fundamental role in the formation of these digital natives, especially helping and guiding them in the correct and full use of new technologies developed for learning.

Cyberbullying is a new, alarming, and evil phenomenon closely connected with relational changes that new technologies are causing in contemporary society. It consists in using the internet to harass, threaten, and harm individuals who are the weakest and most vulnerable. Victims of cyberbullying are mightily children and adolescents. In fact, young people are immersed in new digital technologies and use them without knowing their implications. In fact, there isn't the internet for children and the internet for adults. Both adults and children use the same devices, tools, and ways of communicating and interacting.

The rapid expansion of technology integration in everyday lives calls for a rethinking of teaching and learning with current and emerging digital technologies. How have pre-service teachers been prepared for teaching with these new technologies? Are they prepared for this educational revolution? This chapter presents an analysis of the impact of digital technologies in mathematics pre-service teacher preparation over the past four decades. The chapter examines how various technology types, content strands, grade-level bands, teacher outcomes, conceptual frameworks, research questions, and alignment with the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSSM) (CCSSO, 2010) Mathematical Practices (CCSSM-MP) have influenced the outcomes from mathematics teacher education papers and how this literature has affected teacher preparation. The goal of this examination is to identify recommendations for future mathematics teacher preparation research that show promise for revising mathematics teacher preparation in this digital age.

Summary Digital resolution is currently one of the most important forces determining changes and their dynamics in the social, cultural and economic dimension. Digital technologies such as the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence will, according to Gartner’s Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies 2017, play an increasingly important role while creating a new quality of the market space. Yet, these are multidimensional issues whose potential should be considered both, from the perspective of enterprises that create and/or adapt such technologies in their production, logistics or sale processes as well as in consumer perspective taking into account a degree of awareness, interest and fascination of potential buyers, users with such devices and solutions. This is determined by dualism of approach to digital technologies (economic approach vs. humanistic approach) and evaluation of their potential benefits and threats. It seems, however, that virtualization of consumer behaviour as a consequence of impact of technologies such as the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence, can at the same time be a significant driving force of further processes of digitalization, its dimensions and dynamics. The article attempts to identify the impact of digital technologies (IoT and AI) on attitudes, preferences and decisions of consumers and presented discussion was based on the results of own studies in the analysed area.

Abstract Constant development of information and digital technologies changes the learning process and the specifics of social relations between the student and the teacher. The use of new means of communication makes an important contribution to the development of skills in using technology, intensive self-study and social interaction. A new generation of students uses digital technology daily. The article shows the impact of digital technology on a new generation of students, digital natives, and their learning. It has been defined that a lot of scientists have been studying the impact of information technology on digital generation, advantages and disadvantages of digital technologies. It has been stated that some scientists (M. Spitzer, J. Bauer) point out that there isn’t any indication that digital media accelerate or deepen the brain development process and don’t have any positive effect on its development. Today’s students cannot do without IT technologies – computers, mobile phones, the Internet, applications: video and music, text messaging. Nevertheless, Nicolas Carr notices that texting and instant messaging may weaken human creativity. It is also mentioned that multitasking leads to more superficial learning and less efficient processing of information. Generation of digital natives creates their own social network in their virtual world (a new culture of communication, a new language, new abbreviations which are used for writing messages). As for forms and methods of learning, it is extremely difficult for them to attend lessons and they prefer to be active and to work autonomously. They use the Internet as the main alternative to the traditional literary sources. Learning should be interactive, creative and autonomous for them. The organization of the educational process for digital natives is not an easy task, because they require varied and very stimulating learning environment. Thus, it has been proved that new digital technologies and the Internet can bring not only damage and danger, but also give huge benefits. These benefits should be taken into consideration and appropriate educational programs should be developed and introduced into digital natives’ learning.

This article analyzes the issues of countering cybercrime, taking into account the dynamic development of modern information and communication and digital technologies, the impact of the Internet on the consciousness of the population, including young people, and the use of the possibilities of virtual space. The article deals with the practice of combating cybercrime and the trend of constant development of the «professionalism» of young hacker groups. The purpose of the study is to develop proposals and recommendations, taking into account foreign experience, for further improvement of the education system, training and retraining of specialists in the field of ensuring information security of the country, countering information challenges and threats, as well as improving comprehensive measures to combat cybercrime, including in the detection, disclosure, investigation, and examination of computer crimes. In conclusion, proposals and recommendations were developed to improve measures to counter cybercrime in universities of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Background: Like young people in other developed countries, sexually active young Australians can have an increased risk of acquiring sexually transmissible infections (STIs). This paper reviews intervention programs that aim to reduce the incidence and transmission of HIV and STIs among young people in Australia. Methods: Articles were identified from seven databases. Intervention studies conducted in Australia that included young people aged 12–25 years were reviewed. A two-dimensional matrix consisting of ‘setting’ and ‘intervention type’ was developed to categorise each study. Results: Forty-two studies met the inclusion criteria, and the majority were uncontrolled intervention studies. Of these, 23/42 studies measured participation in chlamydia ± other STI testing and found that the highest participation rates took place in non-clinical and non-general practice health care settings. Four studies facilitated access to testing indirectly, through the internet or other media. Ten studies involved the provision of education and measured its impact on factors such as knowledge, attitudes and/or behaviour. Three studies involved novel immunisation strategies for either hepatitis B or human papillomavirus vaccines. Two studies evaluated the impact of enhanced STI surveillance programs on prevalence rates. Conclusions: Proactive STI testing in non-clinical and some health settings appears feasible and achieves higher testing rates than in general practice; however, more evaluation of testing strategies in general practice settings is required. New technologies such as the internet and SMS are useful adjuncts for influencing behaviours such as condom use and STI testing. Media campaigns that promote STI testing can have a positive impact on testing rates.

AbstractDigital technologies fundamentally transform teaching and learning in higher education environments, with the pace of technological change exacerbating the challenge. Due to the current pandemic situation, higher education environments are all now forced to move away from traditional teaching and learning structures that are simply no longer adaptable to the challenges of rapidly changing educational environments. This research develops a conceptual model and employs Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) using Partial least Squares (PLS) to examine the impact of information and digital literacy on 249 Finnish university staff and students’ intention to use digital technologies. The findings show the complex interrelationship between literacy skills and digital technologies among university staff and students. The results illustrate that information literacy has a direct and significant impact on intention to use; while, unlike our expectation, digital literacy does not have a direct impact on the intention to use. However, its effect is mediated through performance expectancy and effort expectancy. The authors suggest that to understand the changes that are taking place in higher education environment, more attention needs to be paid to redefining policies and strategies in order to enhance individuals’ willingness to use digital technologies within higher education environments.
