Purpose - To understand the relationship between sustainability indicators and information technology projects.Design/methodology/approach – This is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach of multiple cases involving service providers in the information technology sector.Findings – It was found that companies use sustainability indicators at an organizational level for management of information technology projects, but no specific sustainability indicator was present in none of the cases. Thus, the use of sustainability indicators depends on the nature of the information technology project.Research limitations/implications - This study is limited to the identification of sustainability indicators in information technology companies.Originality/value - Although this study points to the effectiveness of the use of sustainability indicators in projects, there is still a gap for performing new studies on information technology projects with the objective of increasing the companies’ economic performance.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to investigate the teachers’ knowledge on educational speech-language-hearing pathology and the importance of auditory and linguistic skills to learning, comparing the answers of public-school teachers with those of private ones. Methods: an exploratory study with a mixed quantitative and qualitative approach, conducted with 25 teachers working in kindergarten and elementary school. Data were collected with a questionnaire comprising 19 closed-ended questions (which dealt with the relationship between language, hearing, and learning) and one open-ended question (which approached their knowledge on educational speech-language-hearing pathology. The quantitative data were analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistical analyses, and the qualitative ones, with theme modality content analysis. Results: in general, the teachers recognize the importance of hearing and language to learning, although they do not feel prepared to deal with it at school, neither do they have more specific knowledge of auditory processing. The results obtained in the open-ended question revealed an also limited knowledge on educational speech-language-hearing pathology. In this sense, their greatest source of information was some teachers’ previous experience with the work of a speech-language-hearing pathologist within the educational setting. No important differences were observed between the answers given by public school teachers and those by private ones. Conclusion: the teachers’ knowledge on educational speech-language-hearing pathology and the importance of hearing and language to learning is still limited, which requires more investment in the training in this field.

This study aims to investigate the relationship between Scrum framework and risk management processes in Malaysia. Companies discuss the management based on a concerned business scale and the influence risk management in Malaysia Information technology projects success. This research is targeting Information technology firms and technology projects. Were researched through guarantee inside and out comprehension of the postulation foundation. In the outcome segment, the author influences a few proposals for the case to small-scale organizations to actualize ventures and to develop risk management successfully. The phases of risk management, in particular the step of risk detection, have a detrimental impact on project performance. Furthermore, risk control has its own risks as a mechanism. This makes it impossible to know if risk management is an appropriate approach in the IT production process for managing and minimizing risks. The study shows the effect of risk management in IT businesses is utilized in the Scrum

This paper focuses on a new approach for facilitating the participation of stakeholders in a process of strategic planning known as open strategic planning (OSP). OSP is recognised through three characteristics: inclusiveness, transparency, and the use of information technology (IT) tools. Drawing on the theoretical foundations of OSP, the research explores moderating factors impacting the relationship between these characteristics and OSP effectiveness by referring to qualitative data obtained from two open strategic planning projects. A secondary aim was to examine how stakeholders interpret the effectiveness of OSP in an organisational setting. Results indicate various moderating factors (level of trust, IT literacy, and diversity of participants) impacted the relationship between the characteristics of OSP and strategic planning effectiveness. The study formulates eight propositions, each is discussed in relation to the existing literature on strategic planning effectiveness. This paper is significant as it is the first exploratory research linking openness and strategic planning outcomes.

The pan-national corporation, with its inherently complex structure, is the organizational form most severely affected by globalization. It is therefore important for the management of such corporations to improve the control and coordination of the corporations’ spatially dispersed subsidiaries. Information technology (IT) has been hailed as an important tool in changing traditional control and coordination processes in complex environments. This paper presents the results of a study that examined the role of IT in the control and coordination of pan-national corporation subsidiaries in Ireland. The findings indicate that IT is being used for changing the nature of the relationship between headquarters and subsidiaries in a manner that makes the pan-national corporation more global in orientation. This is occurring as operations and decision-making processes in subsidiaries are redesigned in order to improve global management and local responsiveness.

This study explored the impact of emotional intelligence on performance at individual and team levels in Information technology projects. The moderating effect of task interdependence has also been examined amid the relationship of emotional intelligence and individual and project team performances. Data were assembled, by means of questionnaires, from IT firms located in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Convenient sampling technique was applied for data gathering. Two types of questionnaire were disseminated; one for the project managers and other for the project team members. Out of 260 dispatched questionnaires, workable data were of 200 samples. Conclusion of this research could be put forward as emotional intelligence significantly affects the individual and project team performances and task interdependence positively moderates the relationship of emotional intelligence and performance at team level. This study has numerous theoretical and managerial implications.

Knowledge enablers exist at the organizational and project levels. There is however, no meaningful means to measure organizational or project knowledge sharing. The need to understand the elements that enable this flow of knowledge is dramatically evidenced in information technology organizations in which insufficient knowledge sharing leads to intellectual capital loss, rework, skills deterioration, and repeated mistakes that increase project costs or failures. The goal of this study was to examine the relationship among knowledge sharing processes at the organizational level – organizational learning enablers (OLEs) – the project level – project learning enablers (PLEs) – and project success variables (PSVs). After identifying and validating the OLE, PLE, and PSV constructs they were codified in a survey. Results showed a positive and significant relationship among OLEs, PLEs, and PSVs. A multiple regression indicated that the combination of OLEs and PLEs accounted for 30% of a project's success, however, PLEs alone were not statistically significant.

Prior studies of information technology (IT) capability mostly focused on dimensions and effects of IT capability at intra-organizational level in western context. This paper extends intra-organizational IT capability to inter-organizational IT capability, specifically examining process-oriented inter-organizational IT capability from a process-oriented perspective in an emerging market context. The authors use survey data from Chinese firms to identify dimensions of inter-organizational IT capability and validate its scale, compare the differences of inter-organizational IT capability in firms with three types of ownership structure, and test the relationship between these inter-organizational IT capability dimensions and firm performance. A comparative analysis reveals that seven inter-organizational IT capability measures identified in Chinese context are extended or more important than in the Western context. Empirical results show that inter-organizational IT capability varies between state-owned enterprises and non-state-owned enterprises. It is also found that four dimensions of inter-organizational IT capability have different impacts on firm performance.

Objective To reveal forms of domestic violence experienced by older people with impaired functional capacity. Methods This descriptive, exploratory study, using a qualitative approach guided by the oral history method, analyzed forms of violence. The oral histories told by older adults were used to identify the relationship between violence and dependence on someone else. The content analysis proposed by Bardin was used as a technique of systematic and objective analysis to describe the contents of the messages to categorize the data. Results Oral histories reveal that older adults are aware of the fact that their dependence on other people exposes them to situations of violence, expressed as negligence, psychological abuse and misappropriation of assets. Conclusion The expression of domestic violence experienced by older adults with impaired functional capacity was revealed, which indicates a relationship between depending on other people and suffering domestic violence.
