This study aims to determine the effect of knowledge, work training, risk behavior, and use of personal protective equipment on loading and discharging work safety. The population in this study were all loading and unloading labor at Tanjung Emas Port Semarang with a sample of 100 respondents. The sampling technique used is probability sampling The analytical method used is quantitative analysis, the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression The results of multiple linear regression analysis obtained the equation Y = -2.004 + 0.286 X1 + 0.246 X2 + 0.253 X3 + 0.328 X4 + μ. And the coefficient of determination is 62.3%, it means all independent variables can explain the dependent variables as much as 62.3% while the rest (100% - 62.3% = 37.7%) is explained by other variables outside the regression model.

Construction industry is one of the most dangerous industries worldwide. Use of personal protective equipment reduces injuries associated with it. This study has been undertaken to find out safety improvement measures and enforcement of statutory provisions available for safety practices, to analyze the current issues regarding application of PPE and to identify key factors preventing effective use of safety wears in construction industry of Nepal. The methodology adopted consists of comprehensive review of literature and questionnaire survey.100 sets of questionnaires to the professionals and 385 to the site operatives were administered. The collected data were analyzed using relative mean score and independent samples test and then ranked as per their significance. This study concluded that routine check of scaffold and ladder, in house safety training, daily consciousness of safety practice, etc. will improve workers’ safety practices. Wearing PPE can help protect from work related injuries, feeling responsible for wearing PPE all the times, asking supervisors for provision of appropriate and adequate PPE but the management has not maintained sufficient stock of appropriate safety wears are the current issues regarding application of PPE. Based on the result of Independent Samples T-test, safety wears are not comfortable to wear with, operatives’ engagement in improper conduct that could endanger their safety, ineffective communication between safety managers and workers are the major factors preventing effective use of safety wears.

Occupational health and safety is one of the necessary things in the industrial world. The problems that arose in the industrial era were the need for workers and increased productivity to be able to produce quality products. Health conditions and the availability of employee safety protections can affect work productivity. So that the safety and work safety culture in the workplace can be realized and can increase the safety performance index, an approach is implemented in the form of methods that can be applied to all organizations in the enterprise, one of which is behavior-based safety methods. The analysis of the data obtained shows that the factors that cause work accidents due to behavior are taken from the validity test, namely the factors of perception, communication and environment, because these three factors are very easily ignored by employees and company management. Environmental factors and personal protective equipment have no effect on work accidents as management always provides periodic education to its employees and enforces strict rules on the use of personal protective equipment. The magnitude of the influence of the variables studied in Behavior-Based safety in an effort to improve safe behavior was 79.7% and the remaining 20.3% was influenced by other unexamined items. The value of 79.7% consists of perception, communication and environment.

The analysis of the results of theoretical and experimental studies, normative and technical literature, using well-known techniques is carried out. The types of personal protective equipment used in dusty production areas of the construction industry are considered. Measures are proposed to improve the working conditions of workers in the warehouse for temporary storage of packaged bulk materials. A project for a power supply system has been developed to improve the lighting of warehouses and maintain lighting in case of certain emergencies. In the premises of the warehouse, it was proposed to use a supply and exhaust ventilation device with mechanical and natural motivation through the windows of the premises and the openings of the warehouse gates. A number of measures have been proposed to achieve a standardized noise level from ventilation units in a temporary storage warehouse for packaged bulk materials.

The purpose of this study is to examine the utilization of PPE and how the knowledge of using PPE affecting the safety of the workers on building construction. There are 100 workers from the building construction industry who participated in the survey. The data were collected using self-designed questionnaires and analyzed using partial correlation and multiple regression analysis. The obtained result reveals that awareness and training have positive effect while experience has negative effect toward the effectiveness on PPE on the construction workers.

This article presents an analysis of accidents caused by falls from a height examined by the National Labour Inspectorate in 2013-2017. Accidents have been analyzed taking into account irregularities related to the use of collective protection measures. 121 events, which had occurred due to the lack or non-use of collective protection measures, were selected for detailed study. The article discusses 10 typical worksites and selected activities performed when accidents took place. It presents a statistical analysis of accidents caused by various irregularities in the use of collective protection measures and it presents descriptions of selected events. Using collective protection measures against falls from a height in the construction industry is an effective preventive technical solution, which does not physically burden workers and does not cause their discomfort at work. Therefore, legal provisions give them priority over personal protective equipment.
