With the rising popularity of “pop” art, “op” art. and stunning geometric designs in femi nine fashions, the author is reminded how easily art and mathematics can be closely related, especially in the upper elementa ry school or junior high school classrooms. For students who have been convinced that mathematics is always associated with calculations or manipulations (or even hallucinations!), the following suggestions can arouse new interest in mathematics—and perhaps reestablish vigorous efforts when regular mathematical topics are pursued again. These lessons arc introductory art lessons that have ma thematical overtones, and it is im portant that the student not become too burdened with the mathematical ideas at the expense of losing interest in art. The concepts in both subject areas are simple and basic. and each student is given an opportunity to discover relationships for himself—in art as well as in mathematics.

Abstract: The lack of students’ knowledge about the relationship between culture and mathematics requires an innovation in the learning process in the classroom. Some schools use teaching materials with almost no material related to Banjar culture. Learners are only emphasized in working on exercise questions without an in-depth understanding of the concept about the use of mathematics contextually, especially in the implementation of ethnomathematics based on Banjar culture. The purpose of this study is to produce a Student Worksheet (LKPD) about number patterns based on ethnomathematics sasirangan in grade VIII of junior high school that is valid, practical, and effective. This study uses the Plomp development model which consists of an initial investigation phase, a design phase, a realization / construction phase, a test, evaluation and revision phase. In the test, evaluation, and revision phases the validity test was carried out by four validators and a small group trial with a total of six research subjects to measure the practicality and effectiveness of LKPD. The results of the validity test against LKPD developed showed that LKPD reached valid criteria. The results of small group trials showed that LKPD achieve practical criteria in terms of the questionnaire response and effectiveness criteria viewed from the learning outcomes of students. Thus, this study produced LKPD about number patters on ethnomatemics sasirangan-based in grade VIII of junior high school that is valid, practical, and effective. Keywords: development, LKPD, number patterns, ethnomathematics, sasirangan.

The article has critically assessed the information sent to the public, including teachers, on the results of external examinations contained in the Central Examination Board (CEB) reports. Basing on the analysis of two sources of information decoded from the CEB reports and the analysis of the database containing the results of examinations, 93% of lower secondary school students, it has been showed that about half of the population "failed" the lower secondary school exam in science and mathematics. Therefore they should not continue their high school education. The analysis of data decoded from the CEB report is in line with the results obtained from 93% of students. Therefore, it is advisable to conduct similar analyzes of contemporary CEB reports on students achievement after the new primary school which is operating in the new education system after liquidation of junior high schools.

There has never been a more interesting time to be teaching mathematics. The new programs are rich in subject matter and are a challenge to students and teachers a like. We are building mathematical concepts in addition to drilling on fundamentals in the same amount of time which previously had been used for drilling alone. This presents a substantial problem to which, I am sorry to say, I do not have the total solution. My concern is with being able to teach all of the mathematics desired in the time that is available. There is one device of instruction in the new materials that I believe has great potential in conveying mathematical ideas quickly and accurately. This device is the number line.

As computer literacy and programming ability increase at the elementary and junior high school levels, more thought must be given to the role of computers in mathematics learning. One step to be taken at the high school level is to accept Gerald Rising's (1983) suggestion to separate computer science and mathematics. This proposal is an excellent one and would help us to focus on ways to improve mathematics learning through the use of computers.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education including science learning, is needed to face 21st-century development, especially for training thinking skill. STEM is believed to increase students’ thinking skill, interest, and STEM literacy. This study aims to know the extent of thinking skill trained through science learning in Junior High School and to know challenges and potencies of developing STEM- based science learning. The study was conducted in SMP N 1 Masaran through various data collection methods. Data were collected by in-depth interviews with 7 science teachers, observation, documentation, and literature study about plan and process of the science lesson, also STEM education as an approach. And then, data were analysed reflectively toward various documents and literature. Assessments which categorized "higher order thinking skill" were below 5% of all assessments provided to students. There are potencies that able to develop to train students’ thinking skill through STEM-based science learning which appropriates with national curriculum in Indonesia. Teachers can innovate in developing strategies and lesson plans to incorporate content Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in science lesson for train students’ thinking skill.

The purpose of this study is to determine the tendencies of learning in Lampung Province especially at junior high school level. Subjects of this study are all result of national examination data for junior high school in 2017 and 2018 in Lampung Province. The method of this study using model analysis of maximum spanning tree (MST) graph assisted by descriptive and inferential statistics technique. The data obtained are analysed using descriptive statistical analysis to find out the basic information of the data and inferential statistical analysis to get the value of coefficient correlation. Then, the MST graph is formed using Kruskal’s algorithm by interpreting the vertices as a subject and the edges as the value of coefficient correlation. The subject that have the closest relationship to any subject is a graph vertex with the greatest degree. Based on the MST graph model, the result of this study shows that the subject which has closest relationship with another subject is Science in 2017, while in 2018 are English and Mathematics. Based on these result and relevant research, the conclusion shows that Science and Mathematics to be the centre for the national examination of junior high school in 2017 and 2018 in Lampung Province.
