Some mathematics teachers profess to see a steady deterioration in the quality of the high school student as he comes to the engineering college. At a conference of college and high school teachers of mathematics held in New York last year the following conclusions were drawn.

Exposure to different types of radiation is an integral part of everyday life (e.g. cosmic radiation, radon, medical applications, cell phones, etc.). Therefore, the general public should adequately be informed on the issue from an early age in order to develop a realistic understanding of the associated risks and the necessary safety culture. In this respect, the quality of the related information provided in the school textbooks is of great importance. The present work demonstrates a quantified assessment of high school textbooks regarding the information on different radiation-related topics provided to students. The assessment was carried out based on an anonymous online survey with the participation of a total of 347 high school teachers. According to the results of the survey, the high school textbooks address radiation issues in a sparse, occasional, and fragmentary manner. Moreover, the results indicate that the quality of information they provide was judged as unsatisfactory in terms of scientific correctness, completeness, clarity-comprehensiveness and objectivity. Radiation protection and applications of non-ionizing radiation are the topics that are covered to a lesser extent in the textbooks and curricula evaluated.

This research aimed to recognize the reasons made the high school teachers (female) in Houtat Bani Tamim province abstains from the leadership's positions at the institutions that they are working in. And to achieve the goals of the research the descriptive analytical approach was used, while the study tool was an electronic questionnaire distributed among a random simple sample which consisted of (93) secondary teachers. The study revealed that the arithmetic averages of the responses of the study sample on the axis of reasons for abstention from leadership positions ranged between (2.62) and (3.94) with a general average of (3.46) (3.45) and (4.31) with a general average of (3.92). The results of the study on the analysis of mono- variance showed that there were no statistically significant differences due to differences in academic qualifications and years of experience. This reflects the agreement of the sample members of the secondary school teachers on the reasons of abstention of leadership positions.

The study was to generate a valid, practical and effective competence-based training model for the electricity program vocational high school teachers. The type of the study was research and development that referred to the development stages proposed by Plomp. The data gathering instrument for the study consisted of: (1) validation sheet; (2) observation sheet; and (3) response questionnaire for the training participants and the trainers. In order to measure the level of reliability and the level of agreement consistency among the raters, the researcher implemented the Cohen’s Kappa coefficient statistics has a minimum value of ≥ 0.70. The subjects of the study were the electricity program vocational high school teachers in the City of Makassar and the Regency of Gowa totaling 22 people. The results of the study were as follows: (1) the training model had fulfilled the criteria of validity so that the model might be implemented for the training activities of electricity program vocational high school teachers; (2) the training model had fulfilled the criteria of practicality that were measured from the level of model stage (syntax) implementation; (3) the training model had fulfilled the criteria of effectiveness that had the following indicators: (a) the level of knowledge and understanding exposed by the training participants, (b) the level of teaching skills exposed by the training participants, (c) the quality of training participants’ portfolio and (d) the response of the training participants and the trainers.
