This study focused on the impact of COVID-19 on K-12 access to community education organizations such as museums, theaters, and art studios. Participants from five community education organizations were interviewed to explore and understand their experiences of developing and promoting virtual resources. While each organization responded differently, three approaches for adaptation and innovation were critical: existing virtual presence, collaboration, and responding to e-learning fatigue. Organizations found that the leveraging of technology in the short term may enhance K-12 access to their resources in the future.

This paper is aimed at analyzing the impact of COVID-19 on the Chinese online video industry. The hypothesis is that since people had more time to spend on leisure during the quarantine, the online video industry should be positively affected. Using methods such as collecting data from consulting firm’s research reports, analyzing news events, and summarizing evidence from security firm’s capital market research reports, I concluded that the pandemics did bring a short-term increase in people’s attention to the online video industry, opened up new opportunities for creative business models, yet also posed potential threads shall the virus strike again in the future.

ABSTRACT The objective of this research is to analyze the working capital and the impact on the profitability of the Tsáchila “El Gustador” food industry. The methodology used had a mixed approach and is non-experimental, descriptive and explanatory, so techniques such as survey, interview and observation were implemented for data collection, which after being analyzed and interpreted showed that there are deficiencies regarding the administration of the short-term asset and liability accounts, a situation that directly affects the liquidity of the industry and the determination of investment in working capital; identifying that this fact originates from poor inventory and accounts receivable management, which may affect the company’s sales in the future and therefore its profitability.   Keywords: productivity; liquidity; current active; current liabilities.

The growing popularity of short-term study abroad and faculty-led immersion offer scholars and educators a new opportunity to study the impact of cross-cultural experiential learning practices on fostering cross-cultural competency among business students. Rising foreign direct investment, international trade, the growing significance of emerging markets, and other socio-political elements of globalization are reshaping 21st century business practices. Pedagogies of business education, including sales and marketing education, must adapt to these changes and provide an emphasis on cross-cultural understanding and its impact on business decision making, along with fostering skills for cultural sensitivity. This article will review two relevant theoretical frameworks, transformative learning theory, and experiential learning theory, which describe the processes by which students develop intercultural competence, particularly with respect to faculty-led, short-term study immersion programs. It will outline a series of best practices for designing, measuring, and implementing such programs in higher education and conclude with brief recommendations for future research.

This chapter provides an alternative approach to career and technical education (CTE) and the use of e-learning technologies. The authors suggested that, by shifting our emphasis in education from the development of people to meet occupational and economic needs to the development of people as individuals, they might become more successful in meeting occupational and economic goals. Based on lifelong learning, we concentrated on experiential learning, critical reflection, transformative learning, and learning communities as best educational practices. Having established the pedagogical basis for lifelong learning, they will then focus on the impact of e-learning and how it can be used to foster and develop these practices. The authors then discuss how these technologies can be used to help create lifelong learners and a learning society. The authors conclude with a discussion of two groups of CTE learners and how the use of e-learning technologies may help meet their learning, career and life goals.

E-learning has emerged as a necessity to meet the challenges posed by the development of information technology and its potential for greater access to knowledge. E-learning technology is becoming more visible in schools in many parts of the world. Kuwait, like many other countries, has started to study the adoption of an E-learning system in K-12. E-learning in schools must meet certain standards that make students competent in a number of areas. The purpose of this study is to investigate teachers' opinions of the impact of E-learning on the public education system in Kuwait. Based on responses by 519 teachers, to a questionnaire survey consisting of 36 items, the study identifies the following six educational improvement areas: 1) basic operations and computer concepts; 2) ethical and human issues; 3) productivity tools; 4) research tools; 5) problem-solving and decision-making tools; and 6) communication tools.

This study incorporates a qualitative, case study based approach to analyze the impact of a short domestic study tour on business students of a Mumbai based college. The methods for data collection were structured questionnaires, feedback forms, interviews, focus groups, and work diaries. Short and economical study tours within the country have succeeded tremendously in their objective and have provided a very high level of learning experiences. There is strong evidence of experiential learning which seem to produce a significant, almost magical, impact on students.

The chapter sets the scope, rationale and purpose of the book. It then covers a number of related topics, principally a review of learning theories and considers Bloom's well known learning taxonomy, and at which levels games of the mixed reality genre can be associated. The impact of games and simulations in learning is backed up by evidence from a survey of opinions as to which types of learning raise achievement levels the most. It also introduces the concepts of Experiential Learning (EL), Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Simulation Based Training (SBT) and then considers recent developments in education such as digital games, e-learning, distance and blended learning. It concludes with a review of earlier assessments of the value of games and an introduction to the suggested elements of good design in mixed reality games.

Much time, money, and attention has been given to the issue of technology in the K-12 classroom. In addition, there is an ever-expanding interest in preparing students for success in a transforming, technology-rich world. In the 21st century technology and education must work together to secure the future for students and society. Society in the 21st century is knowledge-based; learning is critical as knowledge resiliency continually becomes important for survival in the rapidly changing environment. The need for changing traditional approaches to education from the acquisition of short-term skills to proactive programs that infuses technology into the learning are of utmost importance as educators prepare students for the 21st century.

Tape storage is still a cost effective way to keep large amounts of data over a long period of time and it is expected that this will continue in the future. The GridKa tape environment is a complex system of many hardware components and software layers. Configuring this system for optimal performance for all use cases is a non-trivial task and requires a lot of experience. We present the current status of the GridKa tape environment, report on recent upgrades and improvements and plans to further develop and enhance the system, especially with regard to the future requirements of the HEP experiments and their large data centers. The short-term planning mainly includes the transition from TSM to HPSS as the backend and the effects on the connection of dCache and xrootd. Recent changes of the vendor situation of certain tape technologies require a precise analysis of the impact and eventual adaptation of the mid-term planning, in particular with respect to scalability challenge that comes with HL-LHC on the horizon.
