Abstract High-quality nursing care is a goal and requirement in health services. The Norwegian primary health care is challenged by a shortage of nurses, difficulties with recruiting and retaining nurses. This study aims to describe and interpret important aspects allowing nurses working in home healthcare to remain in their current position. A qualitative research design was used. The setting was one district municipality’s home healthcare. Six nurses aged between 26 and 60 years were recruited through strategic sampling to individual interviews. Data were analyzed using a phenomenological hermeneutic method. Four themes emerged from the analysis: Being welcome at the patients’ home; experiencing community with colleagues and leader; experiencing work task variety; traveling in scenic surroundings. Thus, the significance of having a sense of coherence, comprehensibility, and manageability cannot be too strongly emphasized. The study indicates that remaining in home healthcare practice seems to revolve around achieving a sense of success as a nurse.

Abstract Background: A focus of nursing care is the preservation of patients' human dignity. The aggressive nature of burn injuries is a threat to the integration of the patient's existential dimensions and dignity, however, previous studies have not examined the experience of dignity about this client group. The present study was aimed to define and explain the concept of dignity for burn patients from the perspective of their caregivers .Methods: This study was a qualitative research design. The data were collected by using semi-structured in-depth individual interviews. Also, data analysis was performed using conventional content analysis. Nurses and family caregivers of the biggest burn injury hospital in southeastern Iran were selected based on purposeful sampling method (n=18) to reach data saturation from October 2017 to August 2018.Results: According to the findings obtained from interviews, three main themes were identified, including the creation of an intimate atmosphere, respect, and comprehensive support. Conclusions: Burn patients need to be provided with care in a cordial and friendly atmosphere facilitated through empathetic caregiver-patient communication, as well as enough time to allow them to express their feelings and concerns. Also, patients' intrinsic values and beliefs and all aspects of existence should be taken into crucial account to preserve the dignity of these individuals. Therefore, the establishment of training interventions based on these indicators may improve the quality of nursing care.

This paper develops an understanding of how shared leadership emerges in social network interactions. On the basis of a qualitative research design (grounded theory methodology – GTM) our study in two interorganizational networks offers insights into the interplay between structures, individuals, and the collective for the emergence of shared network leadership (SNL). The network-specific Gestalt of SNL appears as a pattern of collective and individual leadership activities unified under the roof of a highly developed learning conversation. More importantly, our findings support the idea that individual network leadership would not emerge without embeddedness in certain high-quality collective processes of relating and dialogue. Both theoretical and practical implications of this original network leadership perspective are discussed.

AIM: qualitative study, which aimed to identify the barriers that influence nursing care practices related to the sexuality of women with gynecological and breast cancer.METHODS: the study was conducted with 16 professionals of the nursing area (nurses, nursing technicians and nursing assistants) from two sectors of a university hospital situated in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The data was collected using semi-structured, in-depth individual interviews. All the interviews were recorded and the participants' responses were identified and categorized using Content Analysis.RESULTS: three major themes were identified. These are as follows: 1) barriers related to the biomedical model; 2) barriers related to institutional dynamics and 3) barriers related to the social interpretations of sexuality.CONCLUSIONS: the results of this study showed that the systematized inclusion of this issue in nursing care routines requires changes in the health paradigm and in the work dynamic, as well as reflection on the personal values and social interpretations related to the topic. A major challenge is to divest sexuality of the taboos and prejudices which accompany it, as well as to contribute to the nursing team being more aware of the difficulties faced by women with gynaecological and breast cancer.

ABSTRACT Objective: To carry out a documentary study on the rules, guidelines, policies and institutional support for the nurse to prescribe medicines and request tests with a view to the advanced practice in the scope of Primary Health Care. Methods: Documentary research using open-access institutional documents - Federal Nursing Council (COFEN), its regional representations in the respective Brazilian states (COREN) and the Brazilian Nursing Association (ABEN). Results: Most of the news/notices were issued by the Regional Nursing Councils in the different Federative Units. The argumentation regarding the prescription of medicines and request for tests by nurses is based on three categories: Autonomy and competencies for the prescription of medicines and/or request of tests; Corporate policies that undermine the full exercise of nursing; and Transformation of health and nursing care in Primary Health Care. Conclusion: The prescriptive practice by nurses integrates health care and has been defended by the institutions that represent the category. It emerges as an important element of advanced practice and in the transformation of care in the context of health teams.

Abstract.Introduction: Patient satisfaction is an essential indicator for assessment of the quality of care and there is evidence of its correlation with health outcomes. Satisfaction with health care is a multidimensional concept which considers aspects such as access, organization and patient-professional interactions. We believe that the nursing care, in particular, are critical in the health/disease process. Objectives: Validate a scale to assess the satisfaction of users with regard to nursing care, adapted from EUROPEP instrument and assess the satisfaction of users of the primary health care of the central region of Portugal. Methods: Cross-sectional study with a sample of 827 adult users (female 64.4%) with a mean age of 50,08±18,58 years. Data were collected through a questionnaire consisting of socio-demographic variables, the instrument EUROPEP (Ferreira, 1995) to assess satisfaction with primary health care and to assess satisfaction specifically with the nursing team we have created issues grouped in the help relationship, interpersonal and instrumental dimension. Internal consistency, reproducibility and content analysis were evaluated using the SPSS 23.0; considering the consistency acceptable to an α of Cronbach’s alpha > 0.70. The coefficient for each item is presented with a confidence interval of 95%.Results: In all dimensions of EUROPEP questionnaire, the highest percentage of satisfaction with the care was between "good" and "very good". The dimensions created to evaluate specifically the nursing care showed a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of α total of 0.972.Conclusions: These results suggest that the dimensions created to evaluate nursing care will be useful for research on the Portuguese population. User satisfaction is crucial to the quality and efficiency of care, requiring the commitment of all service providers on implementation of systematic management practices leading to satisfaction, giving particular attention to the continuous improvement of organizational processes. Field-based learning in higher education is lacking both in practice at colleges and in research within the academic literature. This study aims to address these deficits by exploring the benefits of, and suggesting strategies for, executing field study in higher education across a variety of courses. We report the results of a qualitative research design that included the observation of five courses within the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Approximately eight students per observed course were interviewed three times during their course to assess perceptions of the class, their peers and instructor, the field experiences, and their motivation throughout the course. In total, 130 individual interviews were conducted with 45 students. Results revealed that field-based learning enhances the degree of relatedness students feel with their classmates and instructors, they have a greater degree of intrinsic motivation in the course, and these experiences facilitate learning in ways that may not be replicated in the traditional classroom. In addition, we created a typology of field-based learning, which includes eight different trips that could be employed in higher education courses. We also identified general strategies to improve the execution of these trips.
