The objective of this study is to find out whether discussion starter story significantly improves the achievement on narrative text of the first grade students of Senior High School. This study was conducted by applying Clasroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of this study is the first grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Pangururan in academic year of 2016/2017. The sample of this study is the students X-4 consisting 30 students. There were two kinds of collected data, quantitative and qualitative data. The technique for collecting the quantitative data was writing test while with qualitative data were gathered through interview, diary notes, and observation sheet. Qualitative data showed the students were interested in discussion starter story technique. Based on quantitative data it is found that students’ writing achivement improved from pre-test to post-test cycle I and post-test cycle II. It can be seen from the students’ mean scores and the percentage of the students who got score up to 75. The mean of the students’ scores who got score up to 75 for pre-test is 51.4 , for the post-test cycle I is 74 and post-test cycle II is 80.2. There was an improvement of the application of discussion starter story technique to teach writing narrative.

The main objective of this research was to find out whether students’ reading comprehensionimproved when taught using reciprocal teaching. The research method was classroom actionresearch. The subject of this research was the 35 students of class VIII B at SMP YADIKA 2,consisted of six males and twenty nine females students. The qualitative data obtained frominterview, observation, and researcher’s diary notes, while the quantitative data obtained fromthe pre – test and post – test. The result indicated that there was an improvement of students’reading comprehension. It can be seen from the mean score of the students (Pre – test: 60.21;post – test cycle 1: 74.42; and post – test cycle 2: 86.78). In addition, from the interview resultthe researcher found that the students enjoyed learning reading using reciprocal teaching. Theconclusion of the research is that reciprocal teaching technique can improve the students’ readingcomprehension. It is suggested that teachers should apply reciprocal teaching as a teachingtechnique in the classroom.Keywords: classroom action reasearch, reading comprehension, reciprocal teaching.

AbstractThe objectives of this research were to improve the students’ speaking skill and students’ interest about learning speaking by using Project-based learning. This research used classroom action research method in which the subject was the 25 ten graders of SMA PSKD 7 Depok and the subjects consisted thirteen males and twelve females. The quantitative data were analyzed by computing the students’ score of pre-test, post-test 1, and post-test2. Based on the data results, the mean score of pre-test, post-test in Cycle1, and post-test Cycle2 were respectively 49.12, 66.4, and 70.08. The gain of pre-test to post-test1 was 35.17%, the gain of post-test1in cycle 1 to post-test cycle 2 was 6.14%, and from the pre-test to post-test 2 in cycle 2 was 43.48%. The qualitative data were described based on interview and field-note to the improvement of students’ speaking skill. The findings showed that Project-based learning could improve the students’ speaking skill, it is suggested to use this method in teaching speaking skill. Keywords: CAR, Project-based learning

This study focuses on the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) in writing greeting card to enhance students’ writing ability and creativity. It is based on the classroom action research at the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Sumber, Cirebon, in the academic year of 2019/2020. The subject of the study were 32 students, they were 16 females and 16 males. This study was conducted into two cycles, and each cycle consisted of two meetings. The data were taken qualitatively and quantitatively. Qualitative data were taken from classroom observation, interview and pictures documentation. While quantitative data were taken from the writing test, including the students’ score on pre-test and post-test in each cycle. The findings showed that the use of PBL was able to enhance students’ writing ability. The implementation of PjBL strengthened students’ creativity since it enabled students to explore themselves while developing the greeting card. They were enthusiastic and active in participating during the teaching and learning process of writing. The findings showed that the students’ mean score in the pre-test was 67,8 and it increased to 94,15 in their post-test with the gain score 26,35, which indicated that the improvement was very significant.

The aim of this research was to improve students’ vocabulary mastery of the tenth grade through the use of Keyword technique. This research is categorized as classroom action research. The subject of this research was the tenth grade students of SMAN 2 Tulang Bawang Tengah in the academic year of 2021/2022. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and quantitative data analyses. This research was conducted in two cycles where each cycle consisted of three meetings. Based on the analysis of the research findings, the students’ vocabulary mastery was improved by using Keyword technique based on the quantitative and qualitative data. From quantitative data, the result showed that the mean score of each cycle was increased from post-test of cycle 1 to cycle 2. The mean score of cycle 1 was 62.07, there were 13 students or 46.43% who passed Minimum Mastery Criterion, while in cycle 2 was 77.93, there were 21 students or 75% who passed Minimum Mastery Criterion. Moreover, this improvement can also be seen from qualitative data, such as the results of students’ observation sheet from cycle 1 to cycle 2. The mean score of cycle 1 was 6.41, while in cycle 2 was 7.31. The improvement of students’ learning activity from cycle 1 to cycle 2 was 0.90. It showed that the students seemed to be more motivated and  confidence in learning vocabulary. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Keyword technique can improve students’ learning activities and vocabulary mastery.

This study attempts to improve students’ writing achievement in recount text through Think-Pair-Share Strategy. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class VIII-1 SMPN 1 Pematangsiantar. The number of the students was 32 students, consisted of 5 males and twenty seven females. The research was conducted in two cycles and consisted of six meetings. The instruments for collecting data were writing tests as the quantitative data and diary notes, observation sheet, interview sheet and questionnaire sheet as qualitative data. Based on the writing score, students’ scores kept improving in every test. In analyzing the data, the mean of the students’ score for the first test as a pre-test was 57.84, for the second test as a post test I was 73.56, for the third test as a post test II was 77.56. Based on diary notes, observation sheet and questionnaire sheet, it was found that students were actively involved in writing process. The result of the research showed that Think-Pair-Share Strategy can improve students’ achievement in writing recount text.   Keywords: Think Pair Share, Writing, Recount text, Action research

<p class="Default" align="center"><strong><em>Abstrak</em></strong></p><p>Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui  bagaimana teknik <em>Peer Editing</em> dapat meningkatkan penulisan mahasiswa untuk mahasiswa semester dua program studi pendidikan Agama Islam di IAIN Pontianak pada tahun akademik 2016/2017. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahapan;  perencanaan, tindakan, mengamati, dan evaluasi.  Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa kelas A yang terdiri dari 34mahasiswa dengan perincian 10 mahasiswa pria dan 24 mahasiswa wanita. Penelitian ini menggunakan observasi dan pengukuran sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Dalam mengumpulkan data, penulis menggunakan data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Data kualitatif diambil dari daftar observasi, catatan lapangan, dan perekam sementara data kuantitatif diambil dari tes menulis mahasiswa. Kemudian, dalam menganalisis data, penulis menggunakan analisis deskriptif kualitatif untuk data kualitatif dan statistik deskriptif dengan data kuantitatif.</p><p>Berdasarkan hasil checklist observasi, catatan lapangan, dan perekam, mahasiswa merasa termotivasi untuk menulis. Mereka juga aktif dan antusias selama proses pembelajaran dipandu oleh peneliti. Kemudian, hasil nilai individu mahasiswa pada tulisan mereka juga meningkat di siklus kedua. Dalam dua siklus itu, tidak ada siswa yang masuk kategori sangat buruk. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik <em>Peer Editing</em> berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan menulis mahasiswa. Melalui teknik <em>Peer Editing</em>, para mahasiswa dapat menghasilkan dan mengatur ide-ide mereka dan menghasilkan teks  juga. Salah satu saran yang baik bagi dosen untuk menerapkan teknik <em>Peer Editing</em> sebagai cara alternatif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis mahasiswa.<em></em></p><p><em>Kata kunci: menulis, teknik </em><em>Peer Editing, </em><em>IAIN Pontianak</em></p><p class="Default" align="center"><em>Abstract</em></p><p>This research aimed to investigate how Peer Editing technique can improve students’ writing to the second semester students of Islamic education study program of IAIN Pontianak  in the academic year of  2016/2017. This classroom action research was done in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four actions; they were planning, acting, observing and reflecting.  Then, the subject of research was the students of class A consisting of 34 students with detail of 10 male students and 24 female students. This research used observation and measurement as the technique of collecting data. In collected the data, the writer used qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were taken from observation checklist, field note, and recorder while quantitative data were taken from the students’ writing test. Then, in analyzed the data, the writer used descriptive qualitative analysis to the qualitative data and statistic descriptive to the quantitative data.</p><p>Based on the result of observation checklist, field note, and recorder, the students were feel motivated to write the text. They also were active and enthusiastic during the learning process guided by the researcher. Then, the result of the students’ individual score on their writing had improved too in the second cycle. In the two cycles, there were no students categorized into very poor level. The results of this research showed that the implementation of the Peer Editing technique was successful to improve the students’ writing skill. Through Peer Editing technique, the students were able to generate and organized their ideas and produce a text as well. This study deals with the improvement of the students’ achievement in writing explanation text through Numbered Heads Together (NHT) Method. This study try to find out to what extent using NHT could improve students in writing explanation text. Subject of the study this research, first grade students of SMA NEGERI 1 PEGAGAN HILIR, TIGABARU. There were two kinds of data collected during the study, qualitative and quantitative data. The instrument for collecting the quantitative data was writing test while the qualitative data were diary notes, observation sheet, and questionnaire sheet. The qualitative data showed that the students were interested in the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) Method. Based on the data analysis, the mean of the students score for the first test 52.26, for the second test 69.68, for the third test 79.24 and the last test 82.12. The conclusion is that the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) method can improve the students in writing Explanation text.

This study concerrns with Improving the Students Writing Narrative Text by ApplyingCooperative Integrated Reading and Composition Technique.The objective was toinvestigate improvement of students’ writing narrative text by applying CooperativeIntegrated Reading and Composition Technique. This research was conducted by usingaction research method. The subject of the study was grade VIII students of MTS Al-Hasanah Medan totalling to 29 students. They were taught writing by cooperativeintegrated reading and composition technique. The instruments for collecting data werequantitative data and qualitative data (observation sheet, questionnaire sheet, andinterview sheet). Based on the test score of quantitative data, students’ score keptimproving in every evaluation. In the orientation test the mean was 43, 2, in the cycle Itest the mean was 55, 6. In the cycle II test the mean was 67.2. The percentage oforientation test was 10, 34%, cycle I test was 24, 13% and cycle II test was 86, 20%.The finding of the research showed that applying Cooperative Integrated Reading andComposition Technique significantly improved students’ writing. The qualitative datashow that the students were more interested and motivated on writing throughcooperative integrated reading and composition technique. It is suggested that teachersshould apply cooperative integrated reading and composition technique as one ofmethods to improve students’ writing.

This research aims  to find out the significant improvement of the students achievement in reading comprehension by applying Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). The subject of this research was X grade of SMK Bandung-2 at Academic Year 2017/2018. It consisted of one class with 30 students as respondents. The objective was to discover the significant improvement of the students’ achievement in reading comprehension by applying Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). This research was conducted by using classroom action research. The instruments of collecting data were observation sheet, and Reading  tests. The research finding is shown of  that there was an improvement on the students’ reading achievement on narrative text from each cycle. It was showed from the mean of pre-test which was 56.5 with persentage 0%. After CTL was applied in the first cycle, there was an improvement of the result of the students’ in reading comprehension the mean was 69.16 with persentage 33.3%. It means that there was an improvement from pre-test to post-test I was 33.3%. And for the second cycle after reflection on the first cycle, there was an improvement of students’ mean which was 85 with persentage 100%. Based on the result showed that there was an improvement after applying CTL was 66.7%. It concluded that students’ achievement in reading comprehension by applying contextual teaching and learning (CTL) improved.

This study is purpose to find out the use of numbered heads together (NHT) method to improve student’s writing recount text at first grade student of MA Darul Aminin NW Aikmal in academic year 2014/2015. There were 35 students of MA Darul Aminin NW Aikmual as the subject of the study. The type of this study was classroom action research. This action study was done in two cycles. Each cycle consist of four steps; Planning, Acting, Observing, and Reflecting. The data gathering used observation table check list and field note to obtain information about teacher, the student’s activities and performance during the implementation of NHT method and quantitative data was gained from student’s result writing test. The data analyzed use qualitative and quantitative approach. Based on the data analyzed was gotten that first, the students’ ability in writing recount texts could be improved by using NHT method. Before the study was done, the mean score of students from 50.14 to 75.31 with percentage (25.71%) to (78.12%) is higher than criteria minimum (KKM). The students got score up than 70 there were 25 students with percentage 78.12%. Second, the students’ activeness increased from cycle 1 to cycle 2. Finally, it can be taken conclusion that there was the significant effect of Number heads Together (NHT) method to increase the students’ writing ability in recount text at first grade student of MA Darul Aminin NW in academic year 2014/2015.
