IMPROVING THE STUDENTS’ WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT BY APPLYING COOPERATIVE INTEGRATED READING AND COMPOSITION TECHNIQUE

This study concerrns with Improving the Students Writing Narrative Text by ApplyingCooperative Integrated Reading and Composition Technique.The objective was toinvestigate improvement of students’ writing narrative text by applying CooperativeIntegrated Reading and Composition Technique. This research was conducted by usingaction research method. The subject of the study was grade VIII students of MTS Al-Hasanah Medan totalling to 29 students. They were taught writing by cooperativeintegrated reading and composition technique. The instruments for collecting data werequantitative data and qualitative data (observation sheet, questionnaire sheet, andinterview sheet). Based on the test score of quantitative data, students’ score keptimproving in every evaluation. In the orientation test the mean was 43, 2, in the cycle Itest the mean was 55, 6. In the cycle II test the mean was 67.2. The percentage oforientation test was 10, 34%, cycle I test was 24, 13% and cycle II test was 86, 20%.The finding of the research showed that applying Cooperative Integrated Reading andComposition Technique significantly improved students’ writing. The qualitative datashow that the students were more interested and motivated on writing throughcooperative integrated reading and composition technique. It is suggested that teachersshould apply cooperative integrated reading and composition technique as one ofmethods to improve students’ writing.

This study concerrns with Improving Students’ Achievement in Reading Comprehension Through Reciprocal Teaching Strategy. The objective was to investigate improvement of students’ achievement in reading comprehension through by applying reciprocal teaching strategy. This research was conducted by using action research method. The subject of the study was grade XI students of SMA NEGERI 1 SIABU MADINA totalling to 40 students. They were taught Reading by Reciprocal Teaching Strategy. The instruments for collecting data were quantitative data and qualitative data (observation sheet and questionnaire sheet). Based on the test score of quantitative data, students’ score kept improving in every evaluation. In the orientation test the mean was 57, 48, in the cycle I test the mean was 69, 75. In the cycle II test the mean was 81.28. The percentage of orientation test was 7, 50%, cycle I test was 15, 00% and cycle II test was 85, 00%. The finding of the research showed that applying Reciprocal Teaching Strategy significantly improved students’ achievement reading comprehension. The qualitative data show that the students were more interested and motivated on reading comprehension through achievement Reciprocal Teaching Strategy. It is suggested that teachers should apply Reciprocal Teaching Strategy as one of methods to improve students’ achievement in reading comprehension.

This study concerns with improving students vocabulary achievement in reading recount text through anagram technique. The objective was to investigate improvement of students’ achievement in vocabulary by applying anagram technique. This research was conducted by using action research method. The subject of the study was grade VIII students of SMP SWASTA PEMBANGUNAN GALANG totalling to 29 students. They were taught vocabulary by anagram technique. The instruments for collecting data were quantitative data and qualitative data (observation sheet and questionnaire sheet). Based on the test score of quantitative data, students’ score kept improving in every evaluation. In the orientation test the mean was 43, 2, in the cycle I test the mean was 55, 6. In the cycle II test the mean was 67.2. The percentage of orientation test was 10, 34%, cycle I test was 24, 13% and cycle II test was 86, 20%. The finding of the research showed that applying anagram technique significantly improved students’ vocabulary achievement. The qualitative data show that the students were more interested and motivated on vocabulary achievement through anagram. This study was attempted to improve students’ achievement in writing narrativetext by watching movies. This study was conducted by using classroom action researchin two cycles. Cycle I consisted of four meetings while Cycle II consisted of twomeetings. The subject of the research was class VIII-A SMP SWASTA IMMANUELMEDAN. The number of the students was 34. To collect the data, the instruments werequantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data was the scores of the studentsand the qualitative data was interview sheets, observation sheets, and diary notes. Basedon the writing score, students’ score were improving in every test. It can be seen inOrientation test, Test I in Cycle I, and Test II in Cycle II. In Orientation test, the meanscore was 37.94 then it was improved to 65.85 in Test I. In the end of cycle II, the meanscore for test II was again improved to 83.41. Based on interview sheets, observationsheets and diary notes, it was found that teaching-learning process ran well. In line withthe data, it showed that the application of watching movies significantly improvedstudent’s achievement in writing narrative text. English teachers were suggested to givemovies to be watched as guidance on students’ narrative writing in the class.

This study deals with the way to improve students’ achievement in speaking particularly through Two Stay Two Stray Strategy. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of of the research was class X-AP SMK Swasta Harapan Danau Sijabut in Asahan Regency that consisted of 34 students. The research was conducted in two cycles consisted of three meetings in each cycle. The instruments of collecting data for quantitative data used Speaking Test and instrument for analysis of qualitative data used observation, interview and questionnaire sheet. Based on the speaking test score, students’ score kept improving in every test. In the test I the mean was 61,47, in the test II the mean was 67,41 and the test III the mean was 78,52. Based on observation sheet and questionnaire sheet, it was found that teaching learning process run well and lively. Students were active and interest in speaking. The using of Two Stay Two Stray Strategy is significantly improved students’ achievement in speaking.

AbstractThe objectives of this research were to improve the students’ speaking skill and students’ interest about learning speaking by using Project-based learning. This research used classroom action research method in which the subject was the 25 ten graders of SMA PSKD 7 Depok and the subjects consisted thirteen males and twelve females. The quantitative data were analyzed by computing the students’ score of pre-test, post-test 1, and post-test2. Based on the data results, the mean score of pre-test, post-test in Cycle1, and post-test Cycle2 were respectively 49.12, 66.4, and 70.08. The gain of pre-test to post-test1 was 35.17%, the gain of post-test1in cycle 1 to post-test cycle 2 was 6.14%, and from the pre-test to post-test 2 in cycle 2 was 43.48%. The qualitative data were described based on interview and field-note to the improvement of students’ speaking skill. The findings showed that Project-based learning could improve the students’ speaking skill, it is suggested to use this method in teaching speaking skill. Keywords: CAR, Project-based learning

ABSTRACT This study concerns with the improve students’ creativity ability in writing descriptive paragraph through mind mapping technique. The objective of this study is to discover whether the use of mind mapping could significantly improve students’ creativity ability in writing descriptive paragraph. With support from the theory by Buzan. This study was conducted by applying Classroom Action Research which was carried out in two cycles in 4 meetings. The subject of this study was the Administration Public course in 2ed semester of Students Universitas Merdeka Malang which consisted of 20 students. The data will take in quantitative and qualitative data. Where quantitative data collected by giving descriptive writing tests that related to topic in TA( (tugas akhir) and calculating the mean of students’ scores. The quantities data were collected by the students’ score in (80. 55) which was higher than the first cycle (74.95) and orientation test (69.65). The qualitative data were collected observation and questionnaire sheets. The analyzed qualitative data gathered from the observation and questionnaire sheet during cycle I and II. It was found that students also made improvement students creativity in writing descriptive paragraph by using mapping on their TA (tugas akhir) while guidance and teaching learning proses . Despite all students got problems at 1st meeting, they could handle their difficulties and more enjoy their lesson. By the process they become active and creative in writing descriptive paragraph and  qualitative data showed students strongly agreed by mind mapping  had solve students problem in writing TA (tugas akhir) that related to writing descriptive paragraph. The result of the research showed that mind mapping significantly improved students’ ability in writing TA (tugas akhir) that related to descriptive paragraph text.

This study was conducted to discover students’ achievement in narrative text through snowball throwing model. The design of this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of this study was the students of Grade VIII, 2013/2014 school year of SMP Swasta Taman Harapan Medan. The number of students was 39 students. The research was conducted in to two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meeting which consisted of four stages, namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. To collect the data the instruments that used were qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were collected by using diary notes, observation sheet, and questionnaire sheet. The quantitative data were collected by giving speaking test. Based on the data, the students’ score in speaking test got improvement in every cycle. In Test I, the mean of the students’ score was 64.44 while in Test II, the mean of the students’ score was 68.92 and in Test III, the mean of students’ score was 74.15. Based on the result of quantitative data, it was found that there was improvement on students’ speaking achievement in narrative text. The objective of this study is to find out whether discussion starter story significantly improves the achievement on narrative text of the first grade students of Senior High School. This study was conducted by applying Clasroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of this study is the first grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Pangururan in academic year of 2016/2017. The sample of this study is the students X-4 consisting 30 students. There were two kinds of collected data, quantitative and qualitative data. The technique for collecting the quantitative data was writing test while with qualitative data were gathered through interview, diary notes, and observation sheet. Qualitative data showed the students were interested in discussion starter story technique. Based on quantitative data it is found that students’ writing achivement improved from pre-test to post-test cycle I and post-test cycle II. It can be seen from the students’ mean scores and the percentage of the students who got score up to 75. The mean of the students’ scores who got score up to 75 for pre-test is 51.4 , for the post-test cycle I is 74 and post-test cycle II is 80.2. There was an improvement of the application of discussion starter story technique to teach writing narrative.

This study presents a research report on using simulation method to improve the activity and the students’ learning result improving students’ Learning results on PKn. The objective was to find out whether the activity and the students’ learning result improved when they are taught by using Video. It was conducted using classroom action research method. The subject of the study was the Grade IV students of SDN 187/IV Kota Jambi which is located on Jln. Adi Sucipto RT 05 Kecamatan Jambi Selatan, and the number of the students were 9 persons. The instruments used were test as quantitative data and observation, interview, and questionnaire were used as qualitative data. In analyzing the data, the mean of the students’ score for the on first cycle was 74.11 and the mean on cycle two was 78.00 and the mean of the third cycle was 84.7. Then it can be concluded that the use of simulation as a learning method can improve the students’ activity and students’ learning result. It is suggested that teachers should apply simulation method as a learning method to improve students’ activity and students’ learning result on PKn.Keywords : PKn, learning results, simulation method
