This study focuses on the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) in writing greeting card to enhance students’ writing ability and creativity. It is based on the classroom action research at the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Sumber, Cirebon, in the academic year of 2019/2020. The subject of the study were 32 students, they were 16 females and 16 males. This study was conducted into two cycles, and each cycle consisted of two meetings. The data were taken qualitatively and quantitatively. Qualitative data were taken from classroom observation, interview and pictures documentation. While quantitative data were taken from the writing test, including the students’ score on pre-test and post-test in each cycle. The findings showed that the use of PBL was able to enhance students’ writing ability. The implementation of PjBL strengthened students’ creativity since it enabled students to explore themselves while developing the greeting card. They were enthusiastic and active in participating during the teaching and learning process of writing. The findings showed that the students’ mean score in the pre-test was 67,8 and it increased to 94,15 in their post-test with the gain score 26,35, which indicated that the improvement was very significant.

The objective of this research was to improve students’ English speaking competency by using podcast in teaching and learning. The subject of the research was the speaking competency of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Amlapura, i.e. X MIA 1 class. The method used in this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles. There were two kinds of data collected, the qualitative data were obtained from the questionnaires and observation checklist. The quantitative data were collected by conducting pre-test and post-test. The result of study showed that the main score of the students’ English speaking competency gained on the pre-test was 60.43, on the post-test 1 was 72.46 and on post-test 2 was 79.78 and 83.33% of students could pass the standard minimum score. It can be concluded that the students’ English speaking competency could be improved by using podcast in English teaching and learning.

This project entitled “Improving students’ writing descriptive text using mind mapping teaching strategy of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Kupang in academic year 2017/2018.” This research is aimed at; 1) to find out the use of mind mapping teaching strategy can improve the writing ability of tenth grade students, 2) to find out the weakness and strength of mind mapping teaching strategy. This research was classified as action research. It was done in two cycles. The first cycle was divided into two meetings and the second cycle was divided into two meetings. The research was done with the participation of 43 students of the tenth grade students of science program. The data obtained during the research were qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were in the form observation checklist while the quantitative data were in the form of the students’ scores. The results of the research showed that the use of mind mapping effectively improved the students writing ability. Based on the qualitative data, the students were able to generate their ideas to produce well-organized recount texts. They were also able to use the appropriate vocabulary, correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization in their writings. During the teaching and learning process, they also showed positive response toward the lesson. Based on the quantitative data, the students’ mean score improved. In the pre-test, the students’ mean score was 60.58 The  students’  mean  score  in  the  post-test  1  is 70.81  and  the students’  mean  score  in  the  post-test  2  is  78.60,  which  the  last  mean  score is  higher  than  KKM  which  is  75.00.  It  means  that  there  are  a  difference between  the  students’  writing  descriptive  text  before  and  after  the  action research.

The objective of this study is to find out whether discussion starter story significantly improves the achievement on narrative text of the first grade students of Senior High School. This study was conducted by applying Clasroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of this study is the first grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Pangururan in academic year of 2016/2017. The sample of this study is the students X-4 consisting 30 students. There were two kinds of collected data, quantitative and qualitative data. The technique for collecting the quantitative data was writing test while with qualitative data were gathered through interview, diary notes, and observation sheet. Qualitative data showed the students were interested in discussion starter story technique. Based on quantitative data it is found that students’ writing achivement improved from pre-test to post-test cycle I and post-test cycle II. It can be seen from the students’ mean scores and the percentage of the students who got score up to 75. The mean of the students’ scores who got score up to 75 for pre-test is 51.4 , for the post-test cycle I is 74 and post-test cycle II is 80.2. There was an improvement of the application of discussion starter story technique to teach writing narrative.

<p class="Default" align="center"><strong><em>Abstrak</em></strong></p><p>Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui  bagaimana teknik <em>Peer Editing</em> dapat meningkatkan penulisan mahasiswa untuk mahasiswa semester dua program studi pendidikan Agama Islam di IAIN Pontianak pada tahun akademik 2016/2017. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahapan;  perencanaan, tindakan, mengamati, dan evaluasi.  Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa kelas A yang terdiri dari 34mahasiswa dengan perincian 10 mahasiswa pria dan 24 mahasiswa wanita. Penelitian ini menggunakan observasi dan pengukuran sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Dalam mengumpulkan data, penulis menggunakan data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Data kualitatif diambil dari daftar observasi, catatan lapangan, dan perekam sementara data kuantitatif diambil dari tes menulis mahasiswa. Kemudian, dalam menganalisis data, penulis menggunakan analisis deskriptif kualitatif untuk data kualitatif dan statistik deskriptif dengan data kuantitatif.</p><p>Berdasarkan hasil checklist observasi, catatan lapangan, dan perekam, mahasiswa merasa termotivasi untuk menulis. Mereka juga aktif dan antusias selama proses pembelajaran dipandu oleh peneliti. Kemudian, hasil nilai individu mahasiswa pada tulisan mereka juga meningkat di siklus kedua. Dalam dua siklus itu, tidak ada siswa yang masuk kategori sangat buruk. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik <em>Peer Editing</em> berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan menulis mahasiswa. Melalui teknik <em>Peer Editing</em>, para mahasiswa dapat menghasilkan dan mengatur ide-ide mereka dan menghasilkan teks  juga. Salah satu saran yang baik bagi dosen untuk menerapkan teknik <em>Peer Editing</em> sebagai cara alternatif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis mahasiswa.<em></em></p><p><em>Kata kunci: menulis, teknik </em><em>Peer Editing, </em><em>IAIN Pontianak</em></p><p class="Default" align="center"><em>Abstract</em></p><p>This research aimed to investigate how Peer Editing technique can improve students’ writing to the second semester students of Islamic education study program of IAIN Pontianak  in the academic year of  2016/2017. This classroom action research was done in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four actions; they were planning, acting, observing and reflecting.  Then, the subject of research was the students of class A consisting of 34 students with detail of 10 male students and 24 female students. This research used observation and measurement as the technique of collecting data. In collected the data, the writer used qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were taken from observation checklist, field note, and recorder while quantitative data were taken from the students’ writing test. Then, in analyzed the data, the writer used descriptive qualitative analysis to the qualitative data and statistic descriptive to the quantitative data.</p><p>Based on the result of observation checklist, field note, and recorder, the students were feel motivated to write the text. They also were active and enthusiastic during the learning process guided by the researcher. Then, the result of the students’ individual score on their writing had improved too in the second cycle. In the two cycles, there were no students categorized into very poor level. The results of this research showed that the implementation of the Peer Editing technique was successful to improve the students’ writing skill. Through Peer Editing technique, the students were able to generate and organized their ideas and produce a text as well. AbstractThe objectives of this research were to improve the students’ speaking skill and students’ interest about learning speaking by using Project-based learning. This research used classroom action research method in which the subject was the 25 ten graders of SMA PSKD 7 Depok and the subjects consisted thirteen males and twelve females. The quantitative data were analyzed by computing the students’ score of pre-test, post-test 1, and post-test2. Based on the data results, the mean score of pre-test, post-test in Cycle1, and post-test Cycle2 were respectively 49.12, 66.4, and 70.08. The gain of pre-test to post-test1 was 35.17%, the gain of post-test1in cycle 1 to post-test cycle 2 was 6.14%, and from the pre-test to post-test 2 in cycle 2 was 43.48%. The qualitative data were described based on interview and field-note to the improvement of students’ speaking skill. The findings showed that Project-based learning could improve the students’ speaking skill, it is suggested to use this method in teaching speaking skill. Keywords: CAR, Project-based learning

This study was aimed to improve the students’ grammar achievement, especially in using conditional sentences by applying peer teaching technique. The subject of the study was the third semester students of English Education Study Program in academic year 2017/ 2018. This study was conducted by applying Classroom Action Research (CAR) which had been conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meetings. The instruments of collecting data were quantitative data (grammar test and questionnaire) and qualitative data (observation checklist and fieldnotes). The results of the test showed that the mean score of pre test was 15, formative test was 35 and post test was 63. The result of observation checklist and fieldnotes showed that the students were interested in teaching and learning conditional sentences by applying peer teaching technique. These indicated that there was a significant improvement of the students’ grammar achievement by applying peer teaching technique.

The objective of the research was to find out whether or not the use of juxtaposing pictures can improve the students’ writing ability especially in writing description. The researchers applied a pre-experimental method with one group pre-test and one group post-test design. The subject of the research was the second year students of SMAN 3 Enrekang in academic year 2017-2018. The sample consisted of 32 students of XI IPA 1. The data were collected through writing test (pretest and post-test). To find out the effectiveness of juxtaposing pictures in improving writing ability, the researcher applied t-test analysis. The result of the analysis showed that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test. The value of t-test (9.09) was greater than the t-table (2.039) and degree of freedom (df) = 31. It is concluded that juxtaposing pictures is effective in improving the students’ writing ability in writing description.

This study was aimed to improve the students’ speaking achievement by using storytelling technique. The subject of the study was the eight grade students of Public Junior High School 22 Medan in academic year 2018/2019. This study was conducted by applying Classrom Action Research (CAR), which had been conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meetings. The instruments of collecting data were quantitative data (speaking test) and qualitative data (observation checklist and field notes). The result of the test shows that the mean score of pre test is 40, formative test is 46.34, and post test is 62.89. The percentage of the students’ means score improve from pre test to post test 57.2%. The result of observation checklist and field notes showed that the students were interested in teaching and learning English especially speaking skill by using storytelling technique. These indicated that there was a significant improvement of the students’ speaking achievement by using storytelling technique.

The aim of this research was to improve students’ vocabulary mastery of the tenth grade through the use of Keyword technique. This research is categorized as classroom action research. The subject of this research was the tenth grade students of SMAN 2 Tulang Bawang Tengah in the academic year of 2021/2022. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and quantitative data analyses. This research was conducted in two cycles where each cycle consisted of three meetings. Based on the analysis of the research findings, the students’ vocabulary mastery was improved by using Keyword technique based on the quantitative and qualitative data. From quantitative data, the result showed that the mean score of each cycle was increased from post-test of cycle 1 to cycle 2. The mean score of cycle 1 was 62.07, there were 13 students or 46.43% who passed Minimum Mastery Criterion, while in cycle 2 was 77.93, there were 21 students or 75% who passed Minimum Mastery Criterion. Moreover, this improvement can also be seen from qualitative data, such as the results of students’ observation sheet from cycle 1 to cycle 2. The mean score of cycle 1 was 6.41, while in cycle 2 was 7.31. The improvement of students’ learning activity from cycle 1 to cycle 2 was 0.90. It showed that the students seemed to be more motivated and  confidence in learning vocabulary. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Keyword technique can improve students’ learning activities and vocabulary mastery.

This study is written: (1) to find out whether the use of media Microsoft Power Point can improve students’ reading ability (2) to describe what happens when the Microsoft Power Point is applied in teaching reading. The subject was V of one of elementary school in Karanganyar in the academic year of 2013/2014. This is an action research conducted in two cycles. There are two kinds of data: qualitative data and quantitative data. The qualitative data are collected through observation and interview. The quantitative data are collected using test. The research findings prove that media Power Point could improve the students’ reading ability in indentifying detailed information in a text, meaning of certain words, and reference. The students’ achievement from pre-test score to post-test increased from 61.45 in pre-test, 70.53 in post-test 1, and 88.29 in post test 2. Besides, the media also made the teaching and learning process became effective and the students became more focus to the lesson
