This study aimed to describe the learning process of using Realistic Mathematics Indonesia Approach as the solution to buildthe students ability on problem solving and mathematical communication and to know the result of application of thisapproach. The type of this research was Classroom Action Research. The procedure of this study wasdone twocycles; eachcycle consists of four steeps: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject of this study was the fourth grade ofelementary school at I Kaligesing, which are 17 students. The research instrument includes sheets observation and tests.Sheet Observation was used to obtain data on religiosity and social students during the students‘ learning, while the test wasused to measure the ability of mathematical problem solving and communication students. The core of these activitiesinclude: delivery of realistic problems, group discussions, presentations and conclusions. The rate of spiritual aspects ofstudents in the first cycle was obtained average 5.96, and the second cycle was obtained average 6.83. For the assessment ofthe social aspect, the liveliness indicator increased by 6% from the first cycle to the second cycle, the indicator ofcooperation obtained 10% increase and the tolerance indicator obtained an increase of 10% from the first cycle to the secondcycle. The results of the measurement of problem-solving skills in the initial conditions obtained an average of 50.15, in thefirst cycle obtained a mean of 64.12, and then at the second cycle were obtained average of 74.41. As for the measurement ofthe results mathematical communication skills, in the initial conditions only gained an average of 48.6, after the first cycleobtained average of 65.71, and the second cycle was obtained 75.23. From these results it can be concluded that theapplication of PMRI can increase student‘s ability on the problem solving and mathematical communication

Because of the recent emphasis on rhetorical context in business and technical writing (BTW) instruction, the problem-solving case has become a staple in BTW classrooms. However, a number of critics have voiced concerns about the use of the rhetorical case. These concerns recall an ancient debate among Roman rhetoricians over an early case-study method called declamation. For contemporary theorists, the debate over case study revolves around its value as a stimulant to problem-solving skills, its ability to imitate the realistic circumstances of professional BTW, and its emphasis on persona and audience along with its deemphasis of the teacher. A full spectrum of arguments on these and other issues in the case-study debate indicates that the discipline is entering a new phase in its deliberations over the role of problem-solving and pragmatics in the BTW classroom.

Mathematical problem solving was an crucial skill to be mastered by primary school student so that will help student to unravel their problems encountered in everyday life. By using the realistic mathematics approach, stundents learn mathematical concept based on reality or scope around students. This study aimed to develop an eligible learning materials and test the effectiveness of learning materials based on realistic mathematics education to enhance the problem solving skill of primary school students. This research and development study was conducted in Sawangan Subdistrict, Magelang Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. The testing subjects consisted of 12 students in the the preliminary field, there were 42 students in the main field, and 90 students in the operational field that divided into experiment dan control class. The data were collected by interviews, observation, and tests. The analyzing N-gain score and t-test with a significant level of 0.05 done to find out th effectiveness of the teaching materials. The developed of realistic mathematics eduation learning materials is feasible and effective in improving problem solving skill with significance value of 0.000 (p≤0.05). It can enhance the problem solving skills of 4th grade elementary school.

This study aims to describe the ability of communication and problem solving of mathematical students in the material quadrilateral and triangle in class VII in one district of MTs Bandung. This type of research is qualitative research with phenomenology model which aims to interpret communication ability and ability to solve the mathematical problem of students. The subjects of this study were 24 students for communication skills and 25 students for math problem-solving skills. The result of data analysis shows that the mathematical communication ability of grade VII students in one MTs in Kabupaten Bandung is still relatively low with the highest percentage being in the low communication ability qualification which is 37.5%, while for students who have ability is get percentage equal to 29,2% and for students with high communication skills get a percentage of 33.3%, while for problem-solving skills in class VII is quite good with the highest percentage in qualification students with high problem-solving ability with a percentage of 44%, while for qualified students who ability is getting percentage by 40%, and for low qualifications only got a percentage of 16%.. Keywords: mathematical communication ability, mathematical problem-solving ability

Background and objective: Concept mapping is a powerful instructional tool in the clinical settings that improves competency of undergraduate nursing students in interprets situations, problem solving, decision making and critical thinking in different circumstances. Also enable them to provide optimal comprehensive care for clients. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of concept mapping on problem solving skills, competence in the clinical settings and knowledge among undergraduate nursing students. Methods: Design and Setting: A quasi-experimental design was used and data were collected from Medical & Surgical Nursing Department and Community Health Nursing Department labs in the Faculty of Nursing, Tanta University. Sample: Random sample of 60 undergraduate nursing students which are selected by using simple random method who are divided into; thirty students from second year and thirty students from fourth year. Tools: Four tools were used for data collection: Tool (I): Structure questionnaire sheet to assess students’ knowledge regarding concept mapping, Tool (II): Case study rubric for assessing concept map, Tool (III): Problem solving skills assessment sheet and Tool (IV): Perception of students about using of concept map. Results: As a result of this research, there were significant improvements among students knowledge about concept map, simulation case study rubric and problem solving skills, in addition to more than three quarter from students had positive perceptions regarding application of concept mapping in the clinical settings. Conclusions and recommendation: Based on the findings of the study, there were significant improvement in the score of knowledge, simulation case study rubric and problem solving skills post application of concept mapping in the clinical setting. Therefore, it is necessary to improve wide-spreading of concept map training guidelines for large number of undergraduate nursing students at the level of the nursing faculties.

This research aimed to develop local instruction theory that is valid, practical, and effective to help elementary school students developing their mathematical problem-solving skills. Therefore a sequential activityis design on dailybasis to encourage students to develop their ability to solve mathematical problems, especially on the topic division. To achieve the goal, realistic mathematics approach was implemented to grade three elementary students in the learning process. The designed activities were validated by experts on the aspects of mathematical contents, language, didactical process based on realistic mathematical approach. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and parametric statistics. The validation results show that the local instruction theory was valid, and the implementation shows that the local instruction theory is practical and effective in improving students' mathematical problem-solving skills.
