Aims: This research objective was to determine productivity of two rice varieties using ratoon system through regulation of N fertilizer application at two flooding types in tidal lowland area.  Place and Duration of Study: The study was conducted from February to July 2020 at two locations in tidal lowland area, i.e. B-type flooding located at -203859, 132S 10404428,449E and C-type flooding located at -203858,81S 10404426,745E in Mura Sugih Village, Tanjung Lago Subdistrict, Banyuasin District, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Study Design: The experimental design used in this study was Factorial Randomized Block Design with two treatments factors and four replications.  The variety treatments (V) were consisted of V1: Inpari 30 and V2: Hipa 5 Ceva. N fertilizer application treatments (A) were consisted of A1: N fertilizing: 1/3 dose at planting period + 1/3 dose at 42 dap + 1/3 dose at 1 day after harvest (dah) of main crop; A2: N fertilizing: 1/3 dose at planting period + 1/3 dose at 42 dap + 1/6 dose at 1 dah of main crop + 1/6 dose at 21 dah of main crop. Result: The results showed that N fertilizer application regulation can increase productivity of two rice varieties using ratoon system at two flooding types land in tidal lowland area. Productivity of rice hybrid (Hipa 5 ceva) tend to be higher than that of rice inbred  (Inpari 30) using ratoon system at two flooding types land in tidal lowland area. Productivity of two rice varieties using ratoon system tend to be higher at B-flooding type land than that of C- flooding type land.

This research was conducted from July to October 2015, using Randomized Block Design with two treatment factors and three replications for each treatment. The first factor was rice varieties (V): V1 = IR 64; V2 = Inpara 5. The second factor was fertilizer (N): N0: without submergence, all N fertilizer was given during planting; N1: all N fertilizer dose was given during planting; and N2: 1/2 dose of N fertilizer was given during planting; the rest was given at 42 days after planting. The submergence was during 7–14 days after planting; N3 = the entire dose of N fertilizer that was given during planting, N4 = 1/2 the dose of N fertilizer that was given during planting, and the rest was given at 42 days after planting. The submergence was during 7–14 and 28–35 days after planting. The results showed that the management of nitrogen fertilizer application had effect on rice growth and production which experienced dirty water submergence stress; the application of 1/2 dose of N fertilizer given during planting had the best effect on rice growth and production; the longer the submergence period for rice variety, the higher the effect on rice growth and production.

The application of integrated agriculture is an effort to reduce dependence up on agrochemicals and increase the absorption of nutrients, especially nitrogen, to increase plant growth and production. <em>Azolla </em>is an algae that can provide nitrogen for rice, while ducks can increase the availability of N, P, and K, as well as the efficiency of nitrogen use. This research aimed to evaluate the role of ducks and <em>Azolla </em>in increasing the growth and production of rice plants. This research was conducted from October 2018 to February 2019 using an experimental method with a nonfactorial randomized block design. The combinations of nitrogen fertilizers, <em>Azolla</em>, and ducks (K) were as follows: K1 = 115 kg N ha<sup>−1</sup>, without ducks, without <em>Azolla</em>; K2 = 86 kg N ha<sup>−1</sup>, without ducks, 1,000 kg <em>Azolla </em>ha<sup>−1</sup>; K3 = 86 kg N ha<sup>−1</sup>, 3,000 ducks ha<sup>−1</sup>, 1,000 kg <em>Azolla </em>ha<sup>−1</sup>; K4 = 58 kg N ha<sup>−1</sup>, 3,000 ducks ha<sup>−1</sup>, 1,000 kg <em>Azolla </em>ha<sup>−1</sup>; K5 = 29 kg N ha<sup>−1</sup>, 3,000 ducks ha<sup>−1</sup>, 1,000 kg <em>Azolla </em>ha<sup>−1</sup>; and K6 = without N fertilizer, 3,000 ducks ha<sup>−1</sup>, 1,000 kg <em>Azolla </em>ha<sup>−1</sup>. The results showed that the application of 58 kg N ha<sup>−1</sup>, 3,000 ducks ha<sup>−1</sup>, and 1,000 kg <em>Azolla </em>ha<sup>−1</sup> (K4) was able to decrease the N fertilizer application by 50% and increase the rice growth and yield by 12.17% and 20.32%, respectively. Therefore, the integrated application of rice–duck–<em>Azolla </em>would support sustainable agriculture.

The effort to increase food production in tidal lowland areas was conducted by applying production technology through the use of superior varieties and organic fertilizer enriched with bacteria (bio organic fertilizer). This fertilizer was a formula that had been tested in swamp lowland area and proven capable to regain land fertility through action of beneficial microbia. Some microbia which used to produce bioorganic fertilizer are Azospirillium bacterium and phosphate solvent bacterium with carrier substance of chicken manure fertilizer. The reserach objective was to determine yield capacity of two rice varieties by using inorganic fertilizer and bioorganic fertilizer at tidal lowland area. This research was done at tidal lowland area of C-flooding type. The design used in this study was Factorial Randomized Block Design with 4 treatment combinations and 6 replications for each treatment. The first factor was varieties which consisted of Inpara 6 (V1) and Inpari I (V2), whereas the second factor was fertilizer types which consisted of inorganic fertilizer (P1) and bio-organic fertilizer (P2). The results showed that yield capacity of Inpari I rice variety treated with bio-organic fertilizer + 50% of recommended NPK fertilizer could increase the production of dry unhulled rice with magnitude of 165% (1.59 kg/plot or equal to 3.98 ton/ha) at tidal lowland of C flooding type. Through the provision of biofertilizers, chicken manure enriched with Azospirillum and bacteriophosphate biofertilizers contributes to sustainability agriculture, especially in tidal wetland

Rice is the most essential staple food of Indonesian. The strategy to meet these food needs is through efforts to increase productivity by means of agricultural intensification. One of efforts to increase productivity is the application of integrated technology using the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method and organic cultivation. The research was conducted from March to June 2017 in Sambirejo, Sukorejo, Sragen. Forty rice varieties originating from the Center for Rice Research, Sukamandi, Subang, West Java were tested in this study. Planting was carried out by transplanting using 1 seedlings of 15 days after dispersing (HSS) / planting hole on a plot measuring 2 m x 2 m with a spacing of 20 cm x 20 cm. The research was organized using a completely randomized block design with four replications. Cultivation techniques are carried out organically with guidelines for integrated plant management. Observations were made on the character of the agronomic performance and yield. The results of the analysis of variance showed that there were differences between the varieties tested on all agronomic characters and yields. Varieties that responded well to organic land with the SRI system at the study site were Membramo, Sintanur, Inpari 13, Inpari 32 and Inpari 5 Merawu varieties, while the varieties that responded poorly to the study were Batutegi and Lusi varieties.Padi merupakan makanan pokok masyarakat Indonesia yang mutlak harus terpenuhi. Strategi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pangan tersebut yaitu dengan melakukan upaya peningkatan produktivitas dengan cara intensifikasi pertanian salah satunya adalah dengan penerapan teknologi terpadu menggunakan metode System of Rice Intensification (SRI) dan budidaya secara organik. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret sampai Juni tahun 2017 di desa Sambirejo, Kecamatan Sukorejo, Kabupaten Sragen. Sebanyak empat puluh varietas padi yang berasal Balai Besar Penelitian Tanaman Padi, Sukamandi, Subang Jawa Barat diuji dalam penelitian ini. Penanaman dilakukan secara pindah tanam dengan menggunakan bibit berumur 15 Hari Setelah Sebar (HSS) sebanyak 1bibit/lubang tanam pada plot berukuran 2 m x 2 m dengan dengan jarak tanam 20 cm x 20 cm. Penelitian ditata dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Lengkap dengan empat ulangan. Teknik budidaya dilakukan secara organik dengan petunjuk pengelolaan tanaman terpadu. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap karakter keragaan agronomis dan hasil. Hasil analisis varian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan antar varietas yang diuji pada semua karakter agronomis dan hasil. Varietas yang memberikan respon yang baik pada lahan organik dengan sistem SRI di lokasi penelitian adalah Varietas Membramo, Sintanur, Inpari 13, Inpari 32 dan Inpari 5 Merawu sedangkan varietas yang memberikan respon kurang baik pada penelitian adalah varietas Batutegi dan Lusi.

<p>Tidal swampland in Indonesia is potential for cultivation of inbred and hybrid rice. However, rice cultivation in this land can be done only one time annually. Rice cultivation with ratoon system in this land might increase production from both the main crop and their ratoon. The study aimed to evaluate the ability of hybrid and inbred rice to produce ratoon and their grain yield in the tidal swampland of Central Kalimantan. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design with 12 rice varieties as treatments, namely six hybrids (Hipa 3, Hipa 4, Hipa 5, Hipa 6, Maro and Rokan) and six inbreds (Batanghari, Ciherang, IR42, Margasari, Mekongga and Sintanur); replicated three times. Cultivation of the main crop followed the recommendation. At harvest, the main crops were cut at 20 cm from the ground and fertilized with 100 kg ha-1 urea. The results showed that ratoon crops were emerged at 5–6 days after cutting, with 2–4 leaves per panicle and 5.5–26.0 tillers per clump. Average harvesting age of the ratoon was 69 days. Ratoon yield of the hybrids was better than that of the inbreds; the average was 75.2% of the main crops. Based on the criteria of rice yield, three clusters were identified, i.e. high (&gt;2 t ha-1): Hipa 3, Hipa 4, Hipa 5, Maro, Rokan, Ciherang and Sintanur; medium (1–2 t ha-1): Hipa 6, IR42, Margasari and Mekongga, and low, Batanghari. The study suggests that hybrid varieties could be developed in tidal swamplands.</p>

This study was conducted in Waelo Village, Waeapo Subdistrict, Buru District, with the objectives to determine N fertilizer application timing to increase rice yield and to understand the response of two rice varieties commonly grown in Waeapo. The experimental method used in this study was a Randomized Complete Block Design, with several fertilization treatments (NPK, NK,NP, PK and control), and rice varieties (Membramo and Mekongga), and with three replications. The results showed that administration of N fertilizer (NP, NK, NPK) gave significant effects on plant height, leaf color, full grain number per panicle, 1000 grain weight, dry grain yield, soil N content and leaf N content;  meanwhile it did not affect soil reaction (pH). A low rice yield was obtained in the treatment without N fertilizer, with 2.50 kg dry grain yield per plot and PK treatment with 2.78 kg  dry grain yield per plot.

Sixteen genotypes of rice (including one check) were evaluated on 18 quantitative traits during sali (August), 2018 in a randomized block design with three replications at Instruction cum Research Farm, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat to study the nature and magnitude of variability, heritability and genetic advance under delayed sown condition. The analysis of variance for 18 quantitative traits revealed the presence of significant differences for grain yield and its component characters. The highest genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) and phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) was observed for chaffs per panicle followed by grains per panicle, spikelet sterility (%), spikelets per panicle, grain yield (kg/ha). A high heritability coupled with high genetic advance was observed for plant height (cm), spikelets per panicle, spikelet sterility (%), chaffs per panicle, grains per panicle, grain yield (g/hill), grain yield (kg/ha), biological yield (kg/ha), straw weight (kg/ha) and harvest index (%) indicating that selection might be effective for improvement of these characters under delayed sown condition with low input. From the findings of this investigation, one genotype viz., Gandhari emerged as the outstanding genotype which yielded 4170 kg/ha and could be directly used for cultivation in delayed sown situation with low inputs. Some other promising genotypes that yielded higher than the check Manoharsali under delayed sown condition were JR 29, JR 16, Basundhara and JR 60 and could be utilized as potential parental material in the hybridization programmes designed to develop suitable rice varieties for delayed sown situation.

Boron is one of the most limiting micronutrients in grains production system in Brazil. In this way, the objective was to evaluate the effect of forms of application and doses of boron in irrigated wheat grain yield evaluating the economic terms in Cerrado region. The experiment was conducted in no-tillage system in an Oxisol with clay texture in Selvíria, MS, Brazil. The experimental design was a randomized block design with four replicates, arranged in a 4 × 3 factorial scheme: four doses of boron (0, 1, 2 and 4 kg ha-1) with boric acid source (B = 17%); and three apllication forms: a) in desiccation of the predecessor straw, together with herbicide; b) at the time of sowing, in soil along with the formulated fertilization seeding and c) via leaf tissue with the application of post emergent herbicide. The application of 2 kg ha-1 provides greater grain yields, but the highest economic return was obtained at the dose of 1 kg ha-1, with application in soil, ensuring profitability from production of irrigated wheat in the Cerrado.

ABSTRACT The upland rice farmers in Suriname use local varieties and low level technologies in the field. As a result, the upland rice grain yield is low, at about 1 000 kg ha-1. Our objective was to evaluate the use of upland rice cultivars from Suriname and Brazil, and the effect of nitrogen, N, phosphorus, P, and potassium, K, fertilizers on cultivation variables. We undertook four field trials in the Victoria Area, in the Brokopondo District, using a randomized block design each with four replications. The most productive rice varieties were BRS Esmeralda (grain yield 2 903 kg ha-1) and BRS Sertaneja (2 802 kg ha-1). The highest grain yield of 2 620 kg ha-1 was achieved with a top dressing application of 76.41 kg N ha-1 20 days after sowing. For P, the highest grain yield of 3 085 kg ha-1 was achieved with application of 98.06 kg ha-1 P2O5 applied at sowing. An application rate of 31.45 kg ha-1 of K2O at sowing achieved the highest grain yield of 2 952 kg ha-1. Together, these application rates of N, P and K resulted in rice grain yield of about 3 000 kg ha-1, which is three times greater than the national average for upland rice. We demonstrate that the use of improved rice varieties matched to the local conditions, and application of appropriate fertilizers, are management practices that can result in significant increases in rice grain yield in Suriname.

Sugarcane produces a large amount of biomass, extracts and accumulates high amounts of nutrients. In the literature the nutritional requirements for most cultivated varieties in the past are found, however there is little information on the new varieties currently planted. The objective of this study was to evaluate the nutritional requirement of four sugarcane varieties, currently very planted, in the cycles of plant-cane, first and second ratoon. The study was installed in a Yellow Oxisol. The experimental design was a randomized block design, with five replications, and four treatments: RB867515, RB92579, SP813250 and VAT90212. During maturation of the cane, in the three evaluation cycles, the productivity of natural biomass and the nutritional requirement of macronutrients of the varieties were determined. It was evidenced that the cultivars of sugarcane are of high productive potential and resemble the accumulation of biomass, observing a yield of 158, 128 and 107 t ha-1 in the cycles of plant-cane, first and second ratoon. Regarding the nutritional requirement, the varieties did not differ among them and expressed the following order of need in the plant-cane K > N > Ca > Mg > S > P, in the first and second ratoon, the sequence observed was K > N > Ca > S > Mg > P.
