Scope of the Study: The purpose of this paper is to understand factors influencing consumer behavior in purchasing exotic vegetables in Coimbatore city. Design/Methodology/Approach: A total of 125 respondents were personally surveyed with a well-constructed and pre-screened interview schedule. The sample constitutes both the female and male consumers those purchase exotic vegetables in markets and as well as organized retail stores like Reliance Fresh, SPAR, Nilgiris, Pazhamuthir Nilaiyam. These respondents are spread across  the well-developed Coimbatore city. Simple statistical analyses such as descriptive analysis, factor analysis, and analysis of variance to assess the factor influencing consumers’ purchasing of exotic vegetables were carried out. Findings: Findings of the study indicate that the exotic vegetable purchase decision was majorly done by female consumers. The people of the age group of 21-30 years were highly interested   in purchasing exotic vegetables. A higher level of education and higher income groups prefer exotic vegetables in their food habit. The result of the factor analysis of various attributes of exotic vegetables indicated that 66.65% accounting for four factors that include value aspect, health-oriented, lifestyle & external information, and quality prospects of vegetables. Research Limitations:  It is limited to the data collected through the framed and closed-ended questionnaire. The study being a primary one, the accuracy and reliability of data depend upon the information provided by the respondents. The respondent’s views and opinions may hold  good for the time being and may vary in future Practical Implication: The result of the respondents based on various socio-demographic profiles and product factors will help the farmers/retailers to understand the needs of consumers  in the emerging market of exotic vegetables in a better way. Originality/Value: The study topic is relatively less researched in terms of consumer perspectives and also it has a wide scope among consumers. It has emerging market growth, especially where organized retail stores and its still early stage.

Purpose Integrated reporting (IR) is a new trend in corporate reporting that has spread rapidly in recent years for disclosing financial and non-financial information. This study aims to assess the status of the current regulations and the trends in IR disclosure practice in an emerging market, Malaysia, by providing a comparative analysis of the IR disclosure level (IRDL) and IR disclosure quality (IRDQ). Design/methodology/approach The current study has developed a comprehensive IR disclosure index based on the international integrated reporting framework (IIRF), which comprises 100 items divided into four categories (background, assurance and reliability, content and form). The data were collected from annual reports of companies listed on the Bursa Malaysia over the three years 2017 to 2019, based on 267 observations. Content analysis technique was used to evaluate and measure IRDL and IRDQ. Descriptive analysis was performed to provide the background statistics of the variables examined. Findings IR regulations are at an early stage, and IR adoption is still voluntary in the Malaysian market. Only 267 Malaysian company-year observations during the years 2017–2019 have adopted IR techniques. However, descriptive analysis results showed that Malaysian companies have moved towards the preparation of IR consistent with the IIRF. The findings indicate a significant increase in both IRDL and IRDQ over this period, after the recent recommendation by the Malaysian code of corporate governance (2017) on adopting IR. Further, the results show statistically significant differences in the mean of IRDL and IRDQ between large and small companies. Practical implications These results are important for regulators and policymakers in articulating new IR legislation in an emerging market and for corporate entities and investors in shaping their understanding of IR disclosure practice in the Malaysian institutional context. Originality/value To the best of the researchers’ knowledge, the study is among the first to address the IR regulation status and practice in Malaysian companies. It also established a comprehensive index for measuring IRDL and IRDQ based on the IIRF. The results add to the meagre descriptive literature on IR practice by providing comprehensive insights into IR practice from the perspective of an emerging country.

This study attempts to determine the factors influencing youth’s intention to venture into agriculture sector. Since Malaysia is a developing country, unemployment is one of a major issue especially youth unemployment. Malaysia government recognised that agriculture sector is an important sector to contribute nation GDP followed by service and manufacture. Government implemented actions through programmes for attracting youth’s intention. However, youth still lack of intention to venture into agriculture sector. Data was gathered through survey questionnaire on a total of 245 respondentswho are 15 to 40 years old. Data was analysed by using SPSS system and analyse methods are descriptive analysis, factor analysis, Chi square analysis and multiple regression analysis. Based on the result, it can conclude that youth’s intention will be affected by knowledge, attitude and acceptance as well as gender, age, marital status and education field of youth. By setting agriculture as an obligatory subject and offering agriculture based activities, there are recommended to government, agricultureagencies and universities to take responsibilities of attracting youth to venture into agriculture sector.

The Beliefs about Medicines Questionnaire (BMQ) and Adherence Starts with Knowledge (ASK-12) questionnaire were originally developed and validated in Western populations to assess beliefs and barriers to medication adherence. The study aim is to validate the BMQ and ASK-12 questionnaire for use in a Singapore population with early stage breast cancer. English-speaking women on adjuvant endocrine therapy ( n = 157) were recruited. The BMQ-Specific showed good internal consistency with structural validity. The internal consistency of BMQ-General and ASK-12 Behaviour scale improved with the new factor structure obtained from exploratory factor analysis. Further studies are needed to confirm these factor structures.

ObjectiveTo investigate whether the patterns of striatal dopamine depletion on dopamine transporter (DAT) scans could provide information on the long-term prognosis in Parkinson disease (PD).MethodsWe enrolled 205 drug-naive patients with early-stage PD, who underwent 18F-FP-CIT PET scans at initial assessment and received PD medications for 3 or more years. After quantifying the DAT availability in each striatal subregion, factor analysis was conducted to simplify the identification of striatal dopamine depletion patterns and to yield 4 striatal subregion factors. We assessed the effect of these factors on the development of levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID), wearing-off, freezing of gait (FOG), and dementia during the follow-up period (6.84 ± 1.80 years).ResultsThe 4 factors indicated which striatal subregions were relatively preserved: factor 1 (caudate), factor 2 (more-affected sensorimotor striatum), factor 3 (less-affected sensorimotor striatum), and factor 4 (anterior putamen). Cox regression analyses using the composite scores of these striatal subregion factors as covariates demonstrated that selective dopamine depletion in the sensorimotor striatum was associated with a higher risk for developing LID. Selective dopamine loss in the putamen, particularly in the anterior putamen, was associated with early development of wearing-off. Selective involvement of the anterior putamen was associated with a higher risk for dementia conversion. However, the patterns of striatal dopamine depletion did not affect the risk of FOG.ConclusionsThese findings suggested that the patterns of striatal dopaminergic denervation, which were estimated by the equation derived from the factor analysis, have a prognostic implication in patients with early-stage PD.

Purpose – Marketers try to influence food shopping behaviour of children through various in-store food promotional strategies (FPS). These in-store FPS comprise of attractive packaging, accessibility, availability of foods in wide varieties and presence of helpful and friendly sales personnel. However, little is known about how children buy and the extent to which these marketing strategies are successful. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to investigate food shopping behaviour of children in retail stores and to study the effectiveness of in-store FPS and demographic factors (age and gender of child and monthly family income) on food shopping behaviour of children. Design/methodology/approach – Data have been collected from 473 mothers of children in age category four to 11 years. Data have been analysed through descriptive statistics (means and standard deviations), bivariate correlations, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. Findings – The study explores and validates four factor structure of food shopping behaviour of children in retail stores in Indian settings. These factors include children’s active assessment of foods, impact of availability and variety on children’s purchases, influence of TV food ads on children’s purchases and influence of packaging on children’s food purchases. Further, the findings also reveal that in-store FPS are truly effective in influencing food shopping behaviour of children. Practical implications – Marketers may highlight packaging attributes in food advertisements as they can help escalate food purchase requests of children in retail stores. In addition to this, food advertising is strongly associated with assessment of foods in retail stores and looking for availability of advertised foods in retail stores. This suggests that food advertising as a medium of communication should not be ignored. However, sales personnel can also be used more effectively as they are seen to help children in identifying availability and variety of foods in retail stores. Originality/value – As no such study has been conducted so far (to the best of researcher’s knowledge), this study potentially helps in bridging gaps in literature.

Background: Breast cancer is today a global health problem. With 1,671,149 new cases diagnosed in 2012, it is the most common female cancer in the world and accounts for 11.9% of all cancers and it affects more people than prostate cancer. In 2008, The United States statistics showed that, for all cancer that affect women before 40 years, more than 40% of them concerned the breast. The aim of this study was to describe the clinical, histopathological and therapeutic aspects of breast cancer in women under 40 years of age in Yaoundé.Methods: This was a retrospective study with data collected from 192 medical case files of women treated over a period of 12 years, from January 2004 to December 2015 at the Yaounde General Hospital and the Yaounde Gyneco-Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital. Microsoft Epi Info version 3.4.5 and SPSS version 20.0 softwares were used for data analysis. Results: From 2004 to 2015, 1489 cases of breast cancer were treated in both hospitals. Of these, 462 women were less than 40 years old, representing a proportion of 31.0%. The mean age at diagnosis was 33.5±5.0 years and 17.7% of women had a family history of breast cancer. The average time before an initial consultation was 6.7±6.6 months.  Most cases were classified as T4 (46.1%). The most common histological type was ductal carcinoma (87.4%). Grades SBR II and SBR III were predominant (76.4%). Axillary dissection (64.4%) and neoadjuvant chemotherapy (43.9%) were the main therapeutic modalities. The overall survival rate at 5 years was 51.2%. Five-year survival rates with no local recurrence and no metastatic occurrence were 35.8% and 43.2% respectively. Conclusions: Breast cancer largely affects women under the age of 40 and is often discovered late, at an advanced stage. The prognosis appears poor. Only screening could facilitate diagnosis at an early stage of the disease for better outcomes.
